  1. So, bump, McGehee still stinks and Green is in AAA?
  2. No, because there is nothing new except McGehee's continued incompetence to discuss. Doesn't seem to make much sense continually repeating how incompetent McGehee is.
  3. Never said I agreed with it, just saying what RRR is probably thinking. I prefer not to try delving into what DPR is thinking. Insanity is scary.
  4. Gamel in RF could have probably mostly Hatched Hart's production. I can't believe I forgot to bring him up. He is athletic and has a good arm so he could probably have matched Hart's defense.
  5. You mean other than we have covered this topic pretty thoroughly and nothing has changed much? McGehee is still the 3B and Green is in AAA.
  6. 5-6 road trip isn't to bad. Unfortunately we could have picked up a few extra games with some better managing and a few timely hits.
  7. The question would be, will Gindl hit RHP better by a larger margin than Hart will hit LHP better than Boggs? How much will the improved defense help the team vs a possible decline in offensive production? How much would $9-10m improve another area of the team? I see a lot of opportunity to make the team overall better by platooning RF and using the money to improve another area. Where exactly, I don't know. An extra $8m is a nontrivial amount of money to improve the team. Mind you, this is coming from a guy who likes Hart.
  8. I know zips doesn't account for the platoon advantage, but zips projects the following numbers for the rest of the season:Carroll: .211/.282/.408/.690 Boggs: .218/.322/.376/.698 I think a .750 might be a bit optimistic. I don't think the platoon would be as productive as Hart, but I could go either way on the $9MM. Those are not platoon projections. Players hit better with a platoon advantage.
  9. I think it's a bit too broad-sweeping to just assume a platoon can produce as well as a regular like Hart I would agree if Hart was an average or better defender. Almost any player would benefit from a platoon except, possibly, elite hitters like Braun and Fielder(.791OPS career vs LHP). You obviously cannot do that for every or most positions. Corner outfield seems like a position where there is a much much larger pool of players to draw from,(another reason Kotsay is so disappointing) as opposed to middle infield or center field. I think it is reasonable to think the a Gindl/Boggs platoon could out produce Hart offensively. If Gindl is competent on defense I think they would improve the defense as well.
  10. Is that flexibility worth $9-10m a year? I think we could have brought up a couple AAA guys to platoon at a fraction of the cost of Hart and used the money somewhere else to improve the roster. I think that would have improved our RF defense. I have no explanation for Kotsay at this point. He stinks. He needs to go. We should bring up either Boggs or some other AAA player that can hit left handed.
  11. Intentional or not it was an "up yours" gesture. It can be considered an obscene gesture. Maybe you don't, but others do.
  12. The thing I think DPR doesn't understand is the quality of hitters outside of his elite hitters.(Braun and Fielder) Morgan is a far better hitter than either Carroll or Kotsay even without the platoon advantage. DPR also doesn't seem to grasp defense, which is really weird since he employs tons of infield shifts. He really got outmaneuvered last night and we got stuck with Kotsay in CF.
  13. So much for our manager learning from his early season mistakes on the bases.
  14. The guy DID NOT flip the bird during the game. He didn't flip the bird Nobody on this forum has said he flipped the bird. Read the thread. Some people said they didn't care if Morgan did flip off the fans.
  15. It would be nice for Lucroy toe get a full game off more than once every month.
  16. or, you know, random variance.
  17. I knew she was a singer because my wife listens to her. Beyond that she is/was just another celebrity to me.
  18. That looks to much like elements on the periodic table.
  19. Considering Mel Brooks humor is basted mostly on doing crass things for laughs, I think you just weakened your position considerably.
  20. I will say he has a past, but he has done nothing this season to indicate that he has been anything other than a model citizen. Yeah true, other than making obscene gestures to fans.
  21. There are no verifiable reports that he siad anything obscene or made any obscene gestures. He did make an obscene gesture. It is on video. 45 second mark.
  22. I think that sums up pretty well how I feel. I like what Morgan does in the field production wise but could really do without some of the antics. I see the glove on the inside of the elbow and raising his other hand as an "up yours gesture." I can see why fans or others would see it as derogatory gesture. Not quite as bad as flipping the bird but not good either.
  23. Guys like Hart can be replaced by a decent OF platoon. Especially when you take his below average defense into account.
