  1. I would buy new unless you plan on replacing the car as soon as you have it paid off. When I bought my car I E-mailed several different dealers telling them exactly what I wanted and asked what price they would give me. I got the price I wanted from one of the dealers and that is where I bought my car. I live in a location where I had to travel at least an hour to get to a dealer so I had about 3 within 90 minutes and it really didn't matter to me which one I went to.
  2. This is why I will never buy a Civ game again. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2010/10/civstop.jpg
  3. Ultimately, and this is something I have said many times, we need to stop putting our worst defenders at first just because we have no other options. All teams do this. LF and 1B are where the bats play especially in the NL where there isn't a DH.
  4. $700,000 more to pay a top manager is a great investment when that one guy could represent 2-3 extra wins. Could but don't. That is the really sad part about managers. They can make a difference but most are so stuck in doing things by the book that they don't make a difference. That is why I don't want a guy who has ever managed at the MLB level.
  5. They asked Wolf to defer $4m so they could sign another player. To me that makes it seem like the budget is pretty tight. I'd rather give Valentine $3 million something a year than give it to stiffs like David Riske or LaTroy Hawkins. Jim Edmonds, Craig Counsell, and Jpe Inglett. Let's not forget that every time $3m gets spent it doesn't go to bad players. If we had and extra $3m last year maybe we could have paid a $8m/year player instead of a $5m/year guy.
  6. Yeah the masses are fickle. This just reeks of a publicity stunt as opposed to being a move to actually improve the team.
  7. But the Giants really need offense. They can never reach the World Series with their current offense. Wait, what?
  8. That's the whole problem though. How much impact does a manager actually have? Since they all manage pretty much the same, $3m would have little to no impact when that money gets poured into the managing position.
  9. Considering that most managers are going to manage the game almost exactly the same. $10m over 3 years is a huge waste of money. It's Mark A's money, not mine I doubt any money is coming out of Mark Attanasio's pocket. This money is part of the budget and probably means less money to the players.
  10. Dodged two bullets if I remember correctly. Didn't the Yankees try to pawn off Cabrera for Cameron a couple years ago? The Yankees wanted the Brewers to take Kei Igawa, too. and kick in part of Cameron's salary.
  11. Can we please get past the money argument. We can easily kick in money to make the deal happen if the return is good. No team should be eliminated based on money.
  12. They didn't like him as the 3B coach in Boston. If I recall they called him the windmill. Of course nobody likes the 3B coach. It has to be the job open to the most criticism just after the manager.
  13. Ricky Gervais was hilarious.
  14. I really don't like listening to another team's homers.
  15. I might go for that deal. I would rather give up McGehee though. As previously stated though, they have several corner guys in their system.
  16. Yes, I believe so. I use the default settings. The last post is by bjkrautk on page 27. There is a page 28 without posts.
  17. We have a main page?
  18. Didn't the players' wives go around the crowd selling raffle tickets for an autism charity?
  19. I have an '04 and I think it came with all season tires. They were fine in the winter. I also am not 100% thrilled with the transmission but I got it with the short throw shifter. It is a little chunky shifting but all the gears are right there.
  20. I went with only qualified players. I seriously doubt that all 11 players added to take it to 30 3B would be worse than McGehee, which is what it would take to get him to average. If you disagree, I have no problem with that. There stats are there to look up, post them and prove me wrong.
  21. The stats and the eye test say he is a bad defender but he is fine? Not following the logic here at all. There is a big difference between a good and bad defender or we could just put anybody anywhere.
  22. You mean like a DH winning a gold glove.
  23. I write this with the disclaimer that I believe fielding percentage to be almost useless for outfielders, catchers and infielders with the exception of infielders with many many errors like Braun circa 2007. I thought I would look at various statistics on our steady defender at 3B this year. I of course mean Casey McGehee. Fld% 15th out of 19 with 17 errors and a .954% RZR 16th out of 19. OOZ 19th out of 19 DRS 16th out of 19(closer to worst than average) UZR/150 16th out of 19(but closer to average than last) Pretty damning in my opinion. McGehee is worse than average in all cases and doesn't pass the eye test either. Unless Gamel is Braun bad(and most indications are he is not) I say we have little to lose by putting him at 3B instead of McGehee. In fact I see little or no justification for McGehee staying at 3B. He needs to move to an easier defensive position.
