  1. No, I took it that was as well, but I guess it's better than "He couldn't play second even if he wanted to." I guess. Maybe. How big of a problem is Lawrie's attitude? I have heard many different things about his attitude and most are not good. I would ignore it for the most part but it seems to come up more and more often. I am hoping it is just some immaturity because of his age.
  2. The Brewers games are on the radio?
  3. If he gives that kind of effort every game we'll be ok and his ERA will be in that 4.75-5.25 range that most expect. I would have no problem with a 4.75-5.25 ERA if I didn't think we had better pitchers.
  4. Don't you want your best hitters to get the most AB's? You sure do. Edmonds and Hart are better hitters than Escobar so they should be #2.
  5. Gomez would have to go down pretty soon and stay down almost the whole season to gain a year of service time. He had 2 years 141 days of service time coming into this year. He only needs 31 days of service time this year to get up to 3 years. May 6th(I believe) is when he will have 3 years in. Gerut is probably our best CF option so I really wouldn't have a problem with Gomez going down other than seeing Edmonds in Cf every day because Macha thinks he is a good CF. how badly do this RF squad have to play to warrant a shot? Hart and Edmonds have been hitting really well when in RH this year. .300/.382/.467/.849 is our current line in RF.
  6. The most positive thing I am willing to say about Ken Macha right now is at least we didn't hire Bob Brenly.
  7. As someone who lives about an hour and a half (figuring decent traffic) from Miller Park, I appreciate knowing that if I have tickets, I'll get to see a game one way or another. Driving nearly three hours round trip and not seeing a game would suck. Same here. Without a roof, I would probably have only gone to half the games if that over the last few years.
  8. I could see some argument for putting Edmonds in CF instead of Gerut or Gomez if you include offense. I would disagree, but I could see the argument. With Gerut and Edmonds both playing, Edmonds in CF is dumb.
  9. I have no problem with Suppan either personally or as a player. He just shouldn't be starting. That's on Macha and Melvin. Same with Edmonds. He just shouldn't be in CF especially with Gerut playing at the same time.
  10. He was coming off an .821 OPS as a 26 year old. As a 32 year old with one year before free agency Edgar Renteria posted an .860 OPS and got the Braves Jair Jurrjens. Sure, he may only have been offered a relief pitcher, but I find that unlikely. And didn't Melvin say he was offered a "#5 starter"? I'd love to see who that starter was and if he had any upside. I doubt many GMs were scared off by one bad season from a guy who posted good MLB numbers and still played excellent defense.
  11. Nice, leave your wall uncushioned so your players get hurt to keep your stupid "traditional" ivy Chicago.
  12. You assume we could have traded Hardy for more the previous offseason. We do not know that to be true. From the sound of it, we may have only been offered a relief pitcher for Hardy. There is no guarantee we could have traded for a player better than Gomez.
  13. Why must we have a LOOGY at all, if we have 2 left-handers that can come in to face that tough LH batter, and then stay in the game? That is fine if they get used that way. However, Macha will probably use them like LOOGYs which is really boneheaded if we need to keep them somewhat stretched out. He has used Narveson like that twice already this year.
  14. Have people learned nothing from the Hardy/Escobar fiasco? Sure have. We tend to overvalue our own players.
  15. We went through this when the team lost Sheets and Sabathia, a certain group said no big deal the pitching will be ok because other guys will step up and a few more average guys will replace the below average types. We would have been ok last year if Parra and Bush had not completely fallen apart and at least one replacement pitcher been good.(ok Narveson was but they didn't even go to him till September) Parra and Bush pitching to their career numbers would have been about 4 wins.
  16. So we send down our LOOGY so that we can use either Parra or Narveson as a LOOGY when we should be keeping them stretched out in case we need them to start. Instead we keep Villanueva who can go multiple innings a role that could easily be capably filled by either Parra or Narveson. I kind of get the feeling Macha doesn't really like Parra and he is only on the roster because Melvin doesn't want to lose him.
  17. I would be uncomfortable with anything more than 5 years or $18M per year.
  18. Things can always get worse. He hasn't hit into a DP yet today. At this point the only thing that would make Zaun even less popular is hitting a line drive at Fielder or Braun and breaking their arm.
  19. One of the better lineups the Brewers have had this year. I suppose Edmonds instead of Hart could be argued but all the bad hitters are at the bottom.
  20. We would be able to get higher upside guys with draft picks and if things don't line up right that might be the better way to go. We can probably fill out our roster over the next couple years with guys in the system as long as every single guy doesn't fall apart.
  21. At this point the only thing I would do is find someone else to hire managers.
  22. I don't agree at all. You can't trust a guy with a mullet.
  23. I put nothing on his shoulders for good or ill no matter what this season. We were likely to get better as a pitching staff no matter who was brought in. A few bad games isn't likely to change my mind.
  24. Casey was considered at least average on defense and many people thought his poor defense last year was the result of his bad knee. Whether or not he can keep up the power numbers is the question.
  25. I think this contract was just offered so Deputy Braun had someone to help him sell his Remetees.
