  1. Not sure how you are coming up with 150. He should get at least 32 starts which would put him at just under 170 innings at his current rate.
  2. It looked like Hart was jogging around 3B. I thought he would be out at home. Don't care if Hall just got a hit off of a righty. He should still sit 99.999% of the time against RHP.
  3. There is absolutely zero reason to start Hall at 3B over Gamel. Hall at 2B over Counsell I could understand. I would prefer McGehee over Hall against righties, but I could at least justify Hall in my mind over Counsell because I think Counsell shouldn't play more than 2-3 games a week.
  4. Unfortunately that is what Mach likes to do. He really seems to like the match-up thing a lot.
  5. I wouldn't really look at the innings predictions. 151 innings is a way low expectation of Parra. He should be in the 180-190 range pretty easily(barring injury of course). Parra went 166 last year and was pulled from the rotation for at least half a month. I have no idea how they came up with the innings prediction. They also predict a 5.00 ERA. I doubt he is that high by the end of the year. I am sure the ERA prediction will go back down in a couple starts. It just looks bad now because of the 8 ER start in Minnesota.
  6. If she is really into beer, I think getting her something like New Glarus would be perfect given the fact they don't distribute outside Wisconsin. The best thing to do would be to find out what style she likes. Different styles of beer can have drastically different tastes.
  7. I know. I think the problem is that the Black Wheat is still all over the place. There isn't room for the D-man on the shelves. Everywhere I go they have Black Wheat. Hopefully it will be the same for D-man once the Black Wheat is gone. Tried the Horny Goat Wheat. Very cloudy. Not a bad beer. Of course I am not a big fan of most Belgium wheat beers so this wasn't really my style.
  8. I had a pretty good laugh today when the daily calendar had state resident nicknames from the 19th century. Apparently Missouri residents are "pukes" and Illinois residents are "suckers" so our to in division rivals are pukes and suckers.
  9. would you rather have 1 great player or 3 average to good players for the same money? It costs less to upgrade a position from bad to average/good than upgrading from average/good to great. Is that what you are trying to say? I agree. $17M for Peavy only gets us 2-3 extra wins if he is there instead of Parra. It is much cheaper/easier to get a Looper level player to replace a McClung level player like we did this year. Fangraphs Peavy Fangraphs Parra
  10. Studies on catcher ERA show that catchers matter very little.
  11. How about Schlitz and Blatz. Don't forget Hamms. Not that I would recommend drinking any of those beers. It was pretty cool to bring them on spring break with us just to see what people would say.
  12. Not sure if it was mentioned, but I saw a 6 hop IPA and Imperial Pilsner special edition beers from Point Brewery. They called them Wholehog Limited release beers. I didn't pick either up since neither is a style I like very much. Link I had they guy at the liquor store in the back room for 15 minutes looking for D-man. He went back there twice and then called his distributor before going back a third time and finding some.
  13. New Glarus doesn't distribute outside of Wisconsin.
  14. The bullpen isn't stressed as it is now. It would be less stressed if we had Peavy. We are not putting more stress on the pen by keeping Parra. It seems that many are assuming that the pen is going to be overworked and wear out by the end of the year if things stay as they are now.
  15. I think you are assuming a misused/overused pen. I think relievers can cover more innings than they currently do.
  16. I guessed that Parra is around a 4.5 ERA pitcher and Peavy at around 3.5. I think Parra is actually going to be better than that. Using Zips updated prediction, Parra/5.00 and Peavy/3.41, it pushes it up to 3.5 wins. Assuming the same number of innings of course. Replacing any of Parra's innings with bulpen inings would make it less since most likely he would be replaced with a reliever with an ERA no higher than 4. We only have one nonLoogy reliever with an ERA over 4(Julio) or 2 over 4 if you count Stetter.
  17. I have to agree a catchphrase to me means something that would be repeated over the course of several episodes at the very least. "Yada, yada, yada" doesn't really fit that.
  18. By my calculations each 0.25 points of ERA is worth 5.5 runs over 200 innings. Even if we assume Peavy would have an ERA one run bettter than Parra each year, that comes to 2 wins. I guess we have to ask, is Peavy a big enough upgrade over Parra to trade away Parra plus other top prospects. I think the answer over one year is yes. However, I think we are really going to need all of our top prospects to fill holes on the MLB team in the near future. I also think the extra cost of Peavy over Parra is to much to pay for 2 extra wins. Edit: I think this is the right way to do it. my calculation 200/9*0.25=5.555
  19. Brewing your own beer sounds like a good hobby. Fishing would be enjoyable as well. Can be a pretty cheap hobby unless you get really into all the different lures and stuff.
  20. I think that Macha going with Gamel full time at 3B and moving Hall to 2B would probably put an end to Escobar's chances of seeing the majors this year unless there is another injury.
  21. Neither one is ok. We should be looking at his career as a whole and expecting a small improvement based on his age. Bill Hall 2006 = Corey Hart 2007 I think you are wrong on this. Hall was never a very good hitter in the minors. His 2006 season was pretty surprising considering his minor league numbers. Hart on the other hand was a very good hitter through much of his time in the minors.
  22. Emergency purposes. I think they are waiting to bring him up until JJ is gone through trade or free agency. I think we are ok right now at 2B. Escobar might be a marginal upgrade over what we have right now at 2B, but I doubt it.
  23. If you are going to bring in a righty, bring him to face Pujols. Don't IBB Pujols and then take the pitcher out. Lame.
  24. Our manager annoys the crap out of me with all this IBB and sac bunting he does.
