    I always think of Nix as being pretty much the same guy as Gwynn except with more power and less base stealing ability.

    I don't think MLB should be able to dictate what Japan teams do either. I don't like transfer fees because it limits the number of teams that a player would be available to. The whole point would be to give every team an equal opportunity at every player.

    I forgot to add that home plate umpires should be required to check with 3B or 1B on all check swings.

    He would have to get out of his current contract or wait until it expires then declare himself eligible for the MLB draft like every other player.

    The home plate umpire does look pretty inconsistent. Saw one off the plate to Fielder that was called a strike and one the the pitcher missed badly to the opposite side of the plate that was called a ball even though it still looked over the plate. Just 2 I remember right off hand. I forgot which player it was, but one of the Padres started to take off his shin guard on a called strike that looked like a ball.

    Is the Marlins/Cards game through 5 or in the middle of the bottom of the 5th inning?

    Are we there yet? I mean, are we done yet? The only thing I am really interested in seeing during the Olympics is the Canadian national baseball team play games.

    1) I like that idea 2)Make the slotted values more than a suggestion 3)Like the idea of evening things out, but makes it tough having an odd number of teams in each league 4)No, the playoffs are fine. They go to long as it is already 5)I can go either way on the DH I would like to do something to make strike zones more consistent. Replace the ball and strike calls with a machine. At the very least try to make umpires more accountable on their ball and strike calls. Public discipline for over aggressive umpires. I know they are human, but they should be above going after players and coaches. Just disgraceful how some umpires act.

    Amazing how a simple request goes ignored especially when most people have complained multiple times about the same thing and there is a whole thread devoted to it.

    I currently have TiVo and record 4 1/2 hours per game which covers everything except the most extreme cases(rain delays and games that are longer than Sunday's game). That's good to know that I would most likely get all the games recorded. Weekends are not a problem because I am usually home. It is nice to know that I don't have to rush home to watch the game because it will be waiting though. Thank you for the information.

    I almost never watch games live. I have to record games because of the shift I work. How well do DirectTV and Dish network record shows that are not on a regular channel? How well do Brewers' games get recorded without checking to make sure they are recording? If I was going to get either satellite provider I would have to be pretty sure that games would get recorded without having my wife check on it for me every night. I would absolutely hate to come home and find 1-2 games a week, strike that, 1-2 games a month, didn't get recorded because the game was on a different channel.

    Let's leave Cameron out of this. He is putting up a similar line to Hart with more HR in fewer games.

    So now that Weeks is playing as well as we expected him to, people think that is an aberration and he will start playing poorly again? I would be more inclined to think that Durham starts to drop off since I think he played over his head for the first part of the season and Weeks starts to play better since he way underplayed compared to expectations the first part of the season.

    I don't understand it either. Wild card teams are usually the 2nd best team in a league to make the playoffs every year. A wild card team has made it to the World Series in every year except one since the wild card was first introduced with 2 making it at least once, Pretty much shows that the most important thing about the post season is getting there.

    I remember last year when Craig asked Sheets if he was becoming a finesse pitcher instead of a power pitcher. That got a very nasty look and response from Sheets.

    I don't know why Tim and Sparky would think cheering for either would be a winning attitude. Seems to me a winning attitude would mean that you don't care what either team does because you have confidence in your own abilities. I know we should be cheering for the Cards to lose all of their games because burying the Cards is our best chance to get in, but I just cannot cheer for the Cubs. Any of the teams within 4-5 games of us in the wild card could easily get hot and overtake us even if we finish the year strong. I am not going to worry about it until maybe the end of the year. I am just enjoying winning baseball right now.

    I remember one specific post game interview with Yost where some reporter made some crack about Kendall only hitting a HR every third year or something. Trenni corrected him right away(so did Yost). Reminding the other guy that Kendall hit 3 last year.
