  1. I think Sony makes really good TV's. The problem, I believe, is that you can get a TV almost as good for 2/3 the price in another brand. I would avoid Smart TV's since you can pick up a add on device like Roku for less than the difference between a smart TV and a "dumb" TV. The most expensive Roku is only about $100. Personally I would rather put money towards a bigger TV than a name brand(within reason) or add ons like a smart TV.
  2. This is probably the best place to start.
  3. What will you be using your TV for and how far away will you sit?
  4. He's played 1B in the majors (barely), but more importantly basically any corner OF should be able to move to 1B. I don't know why this forum acts like 1B is a difficult position to learn. He'll probably be way too expensive though, not to mention him not wanting that type of limited role. The only real objection to 1B I see is Braun and that is because he is a sucky infielder.
  5. Shouldn't be to hard. I have to remove the battery to get at one of mine. Unfortunately it keeps burning out. Edit: Don't touch the new headlight with your fingers. Use a clean towel or shirt to pick it up.
  6. Taking a closer look at Braun's deal makes me appreciate how the Brewers front loaded the contract while still deferring $18M ($4M each in 2016-18 and $3M each in 2019-20) to be paid out over the following ten years. Meaning the most they will be on the hook for in any one season will be $15M. This is very reasonable considering what other top players are now signing for. Well done DM and MA especially if Braun can return to form. The Brewers did not front load Braun's contract at all.
  7. Yes OBP is worth more than SLG but you can't totally discount SLG. McGehee ranked 15th out of 24 in wOBA, 19th out of 24 in wRC+, and 24th out of 24 in ISO. He hit like a middle infielder.
  8. I don't think you need an ace but you can see what happens if you have a hot pitcher in the post season. Just like having a hot goaltender.
  9. Possible but I wouldn't say probable. That's what really bugs me about how the team has been handled in recent years. They are managing for possible outcomes not probable outcomes.
  10. It also looks a lot better than it should due to a very unrealistic start to the season. Take away that unrealistically bad ending as well and you get pretty close to where we ended. Find a player or two that are better than the one you had and the overall product should be better. If the product was slightly above average and you improve on that then the team should go from slightly above average to solidly above average. Solidly above average is about where playoff hopes are realistic. I get what you are saying in that they didn't play that well for a much longer stretch of the season so that may have been an aberration. But take away Pittsburgh or St Louis best month or so and I bet their teams wouldn't have looked so good either. Very few teams play to their average all year long. Most teams surge then slump. Take away that surge and not the slump and no team would look good. I agree we probably ended up about where we expected. I think the start and collapse were both aberrations. The rest is here.
  11. Our team was really lucky to have so few injuries, especially to starting pitching. I wouldn't count on being that lucky again. The team also aged a year. I think 6 wins is a lot to find somewhere even with our pathetic 1B production when you take into consideration we are pretty much locked in for every position player and starter. I don't think we can expect much more from Lucroy. 2B was really good and unless we find a good platoon partner for Scooter that may drop off. I don't think we can expect much more from Gomez. The areas where we can pick up some production are 1B, 3B, LF, RF, and SS. 1B seems to be at least partially addressed. 3B and RF could possibly improve if they are given more rest. LF could be improved with a soft platoon. SS is where we could possibly see a big improvement. Starting pitching could take a step forward if Fiers can continue to do what he has done so far over an entire season. Other than Fiers I don't see much upside there and considering the age could see a minor or big falloff. The Cubs will be better. The only team that looks like they are aging and possibly declining is the Reds. I guess I could see 6 wins somewhere. I could also see them losing a few wins.
  12. He is using fWAR which for position players is generally accepted to be better that rWAR.
  13. I've seen this line of thinking in a few places. While the perception might be the Brewers are more than one or two players away from contending what they did last season says they really are just a player or two away. It looks a lot worse than it is due to how badly it ended but overall we were six games short of what the World Series winners had. Adding one legitimate starter where we didn't have one would go a long way towards winning six extra games throughout the season. It also looks a lot better than it should due to a very unrealistic start to the season.
  14. Why would we expect that? His larger body of work suggests he isn't going to be much of a hitter.
  15. I go right to wOBA and WRC+ and Posey was higher in both. Only 3 points in the case of wOBA. Can't really argue Posey didn't deserve it.
  16. Many of us just consider it to be part of the picture instead of the whole picture.
  17. It's mostly your whole condescending attitude in this thread that is upsetting people. It's fine to disagree but it can be done without calling names or hyperbole. That said, I would rather go by the Fielding Bible awards. The Gold Gloves are more about reputation.
  18. Give in to your anger.
  19. This is a good move as long as we can give Ramirez enough time off to stay fresh. He probably needs at least 1-2 days off a week once past the first month of the season.
  20. Top fielding catcher in baseball.
  21. Found it today! This ball & flightpath is the way I'll remember Weeks when he connected (& the kid's facial expression in the crowd at 0:13-0:14 pretty much summed up my reaction at the time) -- http://m.mlb.com/video/v16726143/cinmil-weeks-crushes-a-threerun-goahead-shot/?c_id=mlb And here's the much-referenced shot off the NYCE Club in LF (I'd forgotten it was a back-to-back job with Prince!): http://m.mlb.com/video/v19734007/must-c-crushed-fielder-weeks-hit-backtoback-shots/?c_id=mlb That first one was the one I was thinking of. I guess it was going down but it didn't look like a HR off the bat. Maybe a double in the gap.
  22. I like this deal but I am not sure why people want to find more playing time for Maldonado by playing Lucroy at 1B.
  23. Weeks is the last of the young players on the Brewers I really liked. I never warmed up top Braun or Gallardo. Not like I did with Hardy, Hart, and Weeks.
  24. I hate WalMart but we end up buying many of our non-perishables and household items there. The meat and produce is horrible and I would never buy them from WalMart.
