  1. I remember one HR that looked like a double to left center off the bat but kept rising and went out. I swear the ball was still going up when it went out.
  2. To go along with your assertion, part of the getting less talented each year after 2011 is rooted in the fact that Fielder & Greinke, like Sabathia, passed on the huge money the Brewers offered them for huge-er money from other teams with much deeper pockets. Sure they did but we knew that was going to happen. They sort of ignored that it was going to be an issue. At least Kotsay was previously a CF, whereas Ishikawa was more or less a never-before LF until the injury deal. That Kotsay was exposed was just as much a luck of the draw thing as was Ishikawa's not being exposed.... which I think was your point. Just because a guy was previously a CF doesn't mean he was physically capable of playing there. A guy in CF is much more likely to be exposed than a guy in LF.
  3. I thought the Cardinals had quite a few pitchers injured this year.
  4. Why not just quit caffeine all together?
  5. No, managers are going to look good if they have a good pen and bad if they don't. Last I read Maddon liked small ball strategy so it would be more of the same. Macha's handling of strategy along with our current manager's demeanor along with Yost's handling of young guys is close to a perfect manager.
  6. The $4M is only spent if Ramirez picks up his half of the option. Our best bet is to pickup the option and hope he declines.
  7. Yuni was the only option for a good part of the season. Not sure about McGehee. Ned would have probably stuck with McGehee.
  8. We don't really have a 1B in our system for the near future either so Headley on a 3 year deal would fill a need even though he may be overpaid. Considering where we are as far as being competitive it might be throwing away a lot of money.
  9. Prime is nice for buying a movie here or there. If your connection is a little slow Prime is horrible. I have had Prime stop to load on me at times where it was unwatchable. Happened just this weekend. Switched over to Netflix and had no problems. The only thing I miss is Brewers games.
  10. 1) Kind of. I think of a crossroads as where 2 roads meet so you have 4 directions to go. One being backwards. He is probably thinking of a fork in the road. Not a heck of a lot of difference. 2) My takeaway from that questionnaire is all they really care about is selling tickets.
  11. That 2009 Lineup was far better than what we have now. 2014 was better at catcher, RF, and CF but that's about it. The pitching was horrible though. C Lucroy 1B Fielder 2B Lopez/Weeks 3B McGehee SS Hardy edges out Segura RF Braun edges out Hart CF Gomez LF Braun
  12. I like that he is trying to put together a winning team. I am not a big fan of how he is going about it.
  13. Amazon Prime and Netflix streaming are virtually identical. There are a few exclusives on both. We have had more problems with Amazon Prime not working well compared to Netflix but not much. With Amazon the option to buy individual episodes or seasons is available.
  14. Lawrie could have been traded for a longer term solution. The CC trade also sent over Michael Brantley. Who was our next starter? That is who we have to compare Greinke to if we want to decide if they are still likely to make the playoffs.
  15. I agree that Gomez is our best piece to trade. I doubt Gomez is traded until at least midseason in 2015. I think they will try to build a competitive team and hope to luck into good health again next year. Probably end up in the low 80's for wins. If a big trade is made it is likely to be one of our starting pitchers for a position player. I doubt we see a position player traded.
  16. If any scouting department was more talented they would have Cruz. He was waived after we traded him. That is the kind of trade we need to make. Trade a proven veteran for young talent. We haven't made a deal like that for a long time. Last was Gomez, kind of. Before that maybe Sexson.
  17. He's been top-5 in MLB at shortstop RngR almost every season of his career. Was #2 last season behind Simmons. Smart positioning can be as good as freakish athleticism. His range is deceiving because he isn't fast but he has great instincts. He makes plays look easier than they actually are.
  18. Even better, they have the bookmarks bar at the top. I don't like my bookmarks up there. I like them always open on the side.
  19. Yeah but Chrome doesn't put my bookmarks on the side of the page.
  20. But what is the return on that $15M? We know it isn't a playoff berth, so maybe 3 wins above replacement? I'd rather take the 3 losses and watch Jason Rogers hack it for a year and $10.5M less. Save the money for when Lara and Co need a veteran bat to make the difference. Renting Aramis Ramirez for 1 year at 15.3M is like leasing a satellite radio for your 1992 Ford Taurus. Yeah, you got a nice selection of music to listen to, but your still overpaying for the same service that FM radio provides and oh yeah...you're still driving a 1992 Ford Taurus. I'd rather listen to the cheap FM radio and save the money for the day my whole ride is upgraded. This team needs some fresh tires and probably a new transmission. The radio can wait. I know he isn't the difference between making or not making the playoffs. Worst case is he accepts and gets hurt. We can trade him midseason if he is performing and not hurt.
  21. It's a one year deal. I would offer him the money. It's worth the risk.
  22. Twin Peaks is currently available on Netflix. At least it was a while back.
  23. I am not sure they can officially announce anything right now. I don't think he will be fired but I thought there was a news embargo for the post season.
  24. Orioles and Cubs could go in a run like the Yankees where they had a few stars come up at once then were WS contenders year after year for a long time.
  25. Then you have to click through every tab to find the right one. It's even worse when the ad is part way down the side of the page.
