  1. Those are all younger teams with upside. We are an aging team. The Pirates played over their head, no doubt but they didn't exactly come out of nowhere.
  2. The problem isn't as big as they think it is. It was overblown because of poor management by the GM and manager.
  3. I have multiple Outlook calendars and would like to view them on my android phone. How can I do that without using the web browser?
  4. He will never be forgotten. He lives in infamy.
  5. A Christmas Story
  6. A 40 point split in OBP vs 60 is pretty big. Loretta also struck out a lot less. We can hope he ends up like Loretta but at this point Loretta doesn't seem to be a good comparable because Loretta looks like he had a much better eye at the plate.
  7. Gennett is a perfectly fine 2B for a team that employs above-average to All Star potential players at RF (Braun), CF (Gomez), SS (Segura), C (Lucroy) and 3B (Ramirez). His line of .280/.330/.380 in the #8 hole will play just fine if surrounded by the aforementioned talent. I think it is a big assumption he hits that well.
  8. Just got a call from a coworker about this. Sweet lived down the street from him. Well his GF did anyway. They moved to Arizona.
  9. Not true. Some players will always have a higher BABIP and LD%. Also, Fiers LD% and BABIP were at or lower than career norms in 2013. Then again what kind of conclusion can you or should you draw from 22 innings.
  10. I would be very surprised if the Marlins would take on his whole salary.
  11. Is "we can just trade him" code for "let's sign an aging player and hold onto him until he he has no value and we are stuck with him because he has become ineffective because of injury and age?"
  12. Is there an app for that?
  13. I kind of hope Hart doesn't resign with us. I want to see what Melvin does if he doesn't. Does he continue the believing we are a playoff team? Does he go with a young guy? Does he make a trade for somebody?
  14. Even the players who get locked in to big money deals rarely get much money at the front end when they would have still been pre arby and arby. Braun got a signing bonus($2.3m) but still only had base salaries around the estimate of what he would have been paid had he not signed a contract.
  15. There seems to be less and less salt used on the roads every year.
  16. It isn't a binary decision. Talking to Seid or replacing him doesn't help for probably 5-6 years. That still puts us far enough out that guys like Gomez, Ramirez, Lohse, and Gallardo will not be around. Guys like Lucroy, Segura, and Braun will still be around but we can shorten the time it takes us to improve if we trade a couple guys. To compete we need the talent in the organization bunched up. Right now it is spread out throughout the entire organization. Flipping guys like Gomez, Ramirez, and Lohse puts our talent further out and bunches it up with the younger talent we already have.
  17. How could you not use Amazon? Especially if you have the Prime and free 2 day shipping. I don't know why anybody would want to actually step into a store this month with Amazon available.
  18. You act like just go out and trade for prospects and we"ll get better. This isn't fantasy baseball my friend. Gomez has a team friendly deal, great defender, ascending hitter and he loved Milwaukee. A number of the closet GM's on this board are pretty amusing (in a bad way). There's plenty of prospects who don't pan out, we have people on here who want to give 1b to Gamel for god sakes. No, I act like sitting on players while our minors are poor and the MLB team is mediocore is a bad idea. Of course prospects fail. However if we do nothing we are not going to improve anyway. I would rather try to get better than just sit on players and be mediocre until they leave in free agency.
  19. If we had a team like we had a few years back I would advocate holding onto Gomez. We sit here with a very poor farm system and a mediocre MLB club. No reason to keep guys like Gomez when we can flip them for talent and get better sooner.
  20. Full no trade clause.
  21. Drinking Mercy right now. Awesome Belgian quad from Ale Asylum. Between that, Bedlam and a few other beers they have a good chance at passing New Glarus on my favorite brewery list. Picked up Bell's special double cream stout and Great Lakes Blackout. Both wife(dark beer lover) approved. Dogfishhead is coming back to Wisconsin. I look forward to their IPA's. I think they are getting more than a little gimmicky though. Moon dust in beer, come on son. My Belgian Dark Strong homebrew turned out fantastic. The Barleywine I made last year gets better and better with age. Edit: Forgot to add, Lake Erie Monster is a fantastic beer.
  22. That is sort of a dirty title.
  23. I have heard bad things about provel cheese.
