  1. His OBP is good but once you take into account his power he is only slightly above average at the plate.
  2. His SLG goes down with RISP and his OBP goes up. Looks like he isn't getting as many pitches he can drive with RISP. Kind of what you would expect to see if a guy is being pitched around with RISP.
  3. The Brewers were probably seen as a .500 club heading into the season so that would be right around expectations.
  4. Choo is way better than Aoki. 30 points of OBP and 60 points of SLG is a drastic difference. bWAR never passes the smell test. fWAR is probably more accurate. He is probably about an average player.
  5. So are you saying the manager is good with a young inexperienced team but can't handle a good team?
  6. Two trades: K-Rod to BAL for Nicky Delmonico (top-10 prospect) Axford to StL for Michael Blazek (wasn't he also a top-10 prospect?) Not shabby, all things considered. Other than Michael Gonzalez, who stunk his way out of every trade conversation, most any other "substantial" trade "hopeful" in BF.net-land (thinking primarily of Ramirez, Weeks, Hart) was eventually injured enough to be untradeable. 2 trades, whoopty do. Lohse, Gallardo, Gomez, Aoki and several other bullpen arms. None of which would be 2 month rentals.
  7. We thought the same thing going into this season just before our first pick was thrown away. I believe the FO will sign a pick and up our payroll for next year with the expectation we will have a lot of money coming off at the end of the year.
  8. Every hope I have this season with this team has been crushed. Hoped to seeing Gamel get regular playing time. Another torn ACL. Hoped to watch a developmental/small rebuilding year. Signed Lohse. Hoped to get a good player with our first round pick. Signed Lohse. Hoped the Yuni signing just being a sick internet joke. It's real. Hoped the team would ties with Yuni early in the season. He's still here. Hoped we could get back some good young players in trade at the deadline. One trade. Hoped Braun was smart enough to get away with using the roids. He wasn't. Hoped the team would call up a young guy to play 1B instead of Yuni. To little to late. Hoped to have a high draft pick for next year. They decided to start winning. Now I hope that management will start looking long term instead of just 2014. Unfortunately I feel they will believe 2013 would have been better if there had not been all the injuries and suspensions. Everybody gets a mulligan.
  9. Like he was going to get fired with the built in injury excuse this year. He is a bad manager but we are probably stuck with him until Doug is fired.
  10. Even if Gomez regresses he is still a more valuable player than Aoki. Of course that is also an argument to trade Gomez. He would bring back a better player.
  11. The smart teams are looking more at stats that matter like OBP and SLG or maybe wOBA.
  12. I would never want my team to do most of the things that hypocritical jackass would do. I am glad they didn't throw at McCann. I would be extremely upset if Lucroy acted like McCann did. I am honestly not all the thrilled with how Gomez acted but that is just a minor irritation. I don't know how McCann can get away with what he did though. Blocking Gomez instigated the whole brawl. Odd, it looked to me like Gomez was yelling at the guys who yelled at him. I don't have a problem with players watching their HR unless they tell other players not to do it(yeah you Pujols) or they get a single out of a double because they didn't run(that's you Billy). Molina is still my least favorite catcher.
  13. I would lean towards Melvin thinking we are a good team that had injuries and can right things next year.
  14. That's dumb but how is that different from Ronald. Not sure why you bring that up in a Ned Yost thread. I happen to think RR kinda sucks at managing the pen too although at least he is willing to let his closer get more than 3 outs. Macha, for all his leadership faults, could at least manage a pen. Just pointing out how typical bad bullpen management is.
  15. So did I the first time.
  16. Looking forward to hockey. Still do not like gutting the WCHA. I felt it was a strong traditional conference. We barely have enough teams to make a hockey conference.
  17. That's certainly going a little far. What "can't miss" prospects have there been since Braun and Fielder? That is what he is saying. Unless a guy is a can't miss prospect neither Macha or Ron seem like they want to start a young guy unless their hand is forced.
  18. Unfortunately I think the problem goes a little further than the manager.
  19. He gave Yuni about 160 PA less last year than our current manager has. That may have more to do with the GM though.
  20. Depends if we are talking about being a .500 team or a playoff team. I think it is a stretch to say we are good enough to be playoff contenders next year.
  21. I would never eat spaghetti sauce out of a jar. It is so easy to make a decent sauce. Buy some paste, sauce, garlic, oregano, basil, and bay leaves. Add meat. You have sauce. Or you can just substitute tomatoes for the sauce and paste. Takes some time to cook them down though.
  22. That's dumb but how is that different from Ronald.
  23. Gomez should put up 7 WAR but there is significant room for regression in that. Even taking the defense portion of that back to his career average drops off about a win.
  24. Yuni has "earned" $400,000 in playing time incentives this year. We have kept him on the roster longer than the last 2 teams that signed him combined. The Royals even had the good sense to cut him last August.
