  1. As long as it is moving him to 1B to get a little rest away from catcher and not moving him there on a day he should have off. I fully believe catchers need complete days off not just a day away from catcher.
  2. Not really. It looked like we had some good pitching at the end of last year as well. How did that turn out? Good offense or not, our pitching is still likely to stink again next year and we should probably expect heavy regression out of SS and CF.
  3. It wasn't hindsight. There were several posters who were lukewarm at best about that trade at the time it happened.
  4. Where did you get .750 from? It is every bit as assumptive that Schafer is a .750 guy as it is Gomez not being a .900 guy. While I tend to side with you on Gomez not being .900, I think you'd find a short list of baseball folks that think Schafer is anything more than .700. To me, his absolute ceiling is Aoki's performance this year, which isn't at the .750 you seem to think he can be. Read the post above mine. I don't think .750 is to far out of line. Probably a bit on the high side but not much. It doesn't make sense to hold onto Gomez unless we can improve the team in some other way. He is a very good trading chip with an at least league average guy behind him. To me that is the perfect guy to trade.
  5. Aoki is still more expensive than Schafer, Davis and Gindl.
  6. Well sure if you think Gomez is anywhere near as good going forward as he has been this year. I am not convinced he can keep it up. I think he will be around an .800OPS guy not .900 OPS like he is close to this year. It is a small drop from .800 to .750. That is a very very small drop compared to taking replacing our worst starter with a good starting pitcher. If we can get a #1 or #2 for Gomez we should 100% do it.
  7. He can come close to matching Gomez on defense. I don't think Gomez can keep hitting like he has this year and Schafer can hit better than he has this year. Small drop in overall production which can be made up in another area where we really need it like starting pitching.
  8. It isn't just the stats either. He doesn't even pass the eye test. He was pretty much widely known as a bad ballplayer for years in all circles. Stats, scouts, everything.
  9. Aoki and one of Lohse/Gomez should be traded(I would say both actually). We will not be good while we have either Lohse or Gomez unless we can get a good pitcher who will be on the MLB team by 2014. I think Lohse and Gomez are our best bet to do that. I would trade both since I think Schafer could capably fill in for Gomez and I thin Lohse is going to look worse in the next couple years. I would easily pick up half of Lohse salary to get a goo d enough player back. The money isn't as big a deal as the talent.
  10. If it is Mark A. that would be very unfortunate. With a new GM we can have hope that things will change. With the owner being the problem all we can expect is continuity. I would really hate to have years like this year with only the potential to be mediocre. I hope if it is Attanasio he is a faster learner than Kohl.
  11. He gets this offseason and that's it. If he foolishly holds onto everybody and tries to compete next year he should be fired.
  12. Holy Grail Used to be Mallrats. Maybe Tommy Boy.
  13. That is a very good point. Lohse's 2nd half of this year may very well be his most productive portion of his remaining contract. I would pay most of his remaining salary to get a good player back.
  14. That really didn't need to be in blue. If anybody thought it wasn't sarcastic they need new batteries.
  15. Nice. I was getting afraid Halton might take playing time away from Yuni. Dodged that bullet.

  17. You realize he was a 6th round pick because people knew he would be a tough sign, right? He got paid like a supplemental pick or better. That is where he would have gone if signing wasnt a question. He is 21 years old and has never played 3B until this year. Give him time before saying he cant stick there. Who are the 9-14 guys you would put ahead of Delmonico in our system? Briggs likes batting average. He's not down with OBP.
  18. If it gets him on the field in better condition than his body could normally handle wouldn't that be within the definition of a performance enhancing drug? How so? Merchandise sales are evenly split amongst MLB teams except for at the stadium and a few team stores. Ticket sales may take a small hit this year but if you put a goo product on the field people will show up. I would say $4m is way more than the losses in revenue.
  19. I am extremely disappointed Braun was not smart enough to get away with this. I assume he has been still using something last year and this year to stay somewhat healthy and on the field.
  20. We shouldn't expect a guy in his mid thirties who hobbled around a good part of last year with leg issues to miss time this year?
  21. That would probably work. I had to do a recovery of Windows to an earlier time before the last Flash update. Now it works. This is the second time in the last couple years Flash has not worked for me.
  22. If he gets traded. They need to trade him to make the signing worth while. I don't think Garza is a good comparison. He is half a decade younger than Lohse.
  23. I don't believe for a second the Brewers players have packed it in. That is the kind of crap you always end up reading about bad teams.
  24. I am well aware of how bad our 1B situation has been as are most other posters here.Sure if you completely ignore Gomez and Segura playing way over any reasonable expectations you can just add all that up. We were more than likely a low 80 win team and mid 80's with Lohse if everything went right. It was a bad signing at the time and looks downright ugly now. Also, expecting Ramirez to play a full season given his age and injury history was wishful thinking.
