  1. He is too short to be effective though he may help with the pickup game versus the Cubs.He may be short, but he does have the hops the Brewers want.
  2. Record: 14-9 Tiebreaker: 3+5+4 = 12
  3. Maybe Suppan has the same injury Elmer Dessens had: We-aren't-going-to-cut-you-but-don't-want-you-to-play-itis.
  4. My alma mater Kiel made an improbable run to state but sadly bowed out today with their loss to Northwestern. The high school sold 3500 tickets, which is pretty good considering the city has 3400 people.
  5. Did anyone else notice Sports Illustrated picked the Badgers to lose in the first round in their bracket predictions? Where's Rodney Dangerfield? Those SI picks are pretty bad every year though, so I shouldn't be too surprised.
  6. I vaguely remember Benny habitually struggling every Spring Training. But I could just be making that up in my head.
  7. So the five people with indoor plumbing in Canada were going to the bathroom at the same time?
  8. JSOnline is running a poll I found to be very amusing: What Does Chuckie do on 2-0?
  9. If it weren't for the Giants making a stink about this, no one would even remember it was them who the walk off homer was hit against. Every time the highlight of the celebration at home plate is played, there is nary a Giants player or personnel in sight. Hopefully the faux payback yesterday can put this petty feud to rest before someone besides the Giants' fragile egos really gets hurt.
  10. The season is still young. Dave Bush can probably grow a beard faster and fuller than any man alive.
  11. I think a statue is well deserved for Bud. As the main drive to get baseball back to Milwaukee, he has earned a free pass for life in my book. It's scary to think how crummy life would be without a Major League team.
  12. That doesn't exactly deny anything.
  13. The first thing I thought when Redd went down last night was "His career is over." Two major knee injuries in 12 months? I doubt he will play much again and if he does, not much more than a stiff, jump shooter and not the slasher he once was.
  14. Hot Stove on MLB Network had Marty Noble, one of the writers who didn't vote for Roberto Alomar, on to explain why he didn't vote for Alomar. Basically, it boiled down to Noble still being upset Alomar spit at the umpire and because Alomar didn't "try" or "care" when he was playing for the Mets. Even when Harold Reynolds told Noble that Alomar has apologized to Hirschbeck and the two are all good now, Noble didn't care. Noble may have had a Freudian slip when he said Alomar hadn't apologized "to him" but he quickly corrected himself by saying he didn't have to apologize to him. This discussion just showed how high and mighty BBWAA voters think of themselves. Marty Noble on why he did not vote for Roberto Alomar
  15. Apparently, Holliday will be paid by the Cardinals until the year 2029. That was a very classy decision by the Cardinals, to pay a guy $1.4-1.6 million a year when he isn't even playing anymore. Link
  16. This is what I do not understand. How can a player be more "hall worthy" from one year to the next? They aren't adding any more numbers to their stats. Once a player is done playing and they become eligible for the hall, then they should be voted in if they are good enough. Those baseball writers are just curmudgeonly people if they think being a first ballot hall of famer is a big deal. Of all the players in the hall of fame, I have no idea who was voted in first time and who wasn't.
  17. Agreed, Tim O'Brien is a very good author. I read The Things They Carry in high school and it was excellent.
  18. Pretty sure when the Bucks were going to a commercial tonight in the first quarter, Jim Paschke wished everyone a happy Festivus.
  19. Craig Biggio would be proud of that elbow brace.
  20. I find it hard to like any Celtic other than Ray Allen. I understand they want to play with emotion, but they just seem out of control and act like jerks.
  21. Great draw for the U.S., especially because Portugal was still in the pot at the time Slovenia was picked. If they do not advance to the second round, it will be a major disappointment. I wonder what North Korea's goal differential will be at the end, being that they are in the group of death. I'm thinking at least double digits. Edit: Every time ESPN shows Landon Donovan's penalty kick against Honduras, they zoom the camera in perfectly on me and my reaction. It's great to still get face time 6 months after the game happened http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. If not for the thread title, I would have thought you were talking about Joe Buck. Hopefully Brian doesn't take this gig. He has settled in nicely and I don't want to go through breaking in another new announcer already.
  23. Paul is out with an ankle injury, so that match up will have to wait. But the Hornets seem to be playing better since Byron Scott got fired and Paul went down. Darren Collinson is filling in nicely.
  24. Today one of my professors talked about Jennings' big game and said he was the second coming of Allen Iverson and a 'me first' point guard. I just sat in the corner and rolled my eyes.
  25. Who voted for Everth Cabrera? That's what I would like to know.
