Are the naysayers of this trade forgetting how volatile relievers can be? For as good as Thornburg was last year, there's a decent chance he falls back to earth next year. The more I read about this, the more I like the trade. Dubon seems like a great get and Pennington is basically Thornburg-lite.
I like this deal a lot better with Dubon also coming back. Shaw, Arcia, Villar, Thames infield with Perez as super sub will be interesting if nothing else. As if there was any doubt, this pretty much confirms that Scooter is a goner.
Only good part about this is that it's cheaper than most would have expected. I'm hoping we can get a 20-yr old with a moderate ceiling or two and call it a day. He just doesn't seem to have a place on this team.
The all-star game determining home field advantage for the WS was a bigger joke than the game itself. It's fantastic that they finally did away with that farce.
I'm hoping the fact that the Pirates are actually shopping McCutcheon doesn't end up hurting Braun's trade value. He's younger, cheaper in dollars and years and teams may gamble that last year was a fluke rather than paying up for Braun.
What is the success rate like for players coming over from Korea? I'm still kind of skeptical about this, but maybe he learned something over there and his success will translate.
Congrats Briggs! I'm really curious to see the financials on this and the explanation of why we needed to go 3 years. I know the upper minors are pretty barren at 1B, but this seems excessive.
I am apoplectic. Went to bed when they brought Will Smith in and hoped for the best, not a pleasant way to wake up this morning. I have very little faith in the Dodgers and the Nats, but I suppose I also didn't have much faith in the Mets last year.
