  1. moderately underwhelming, but I love eating and drinking at a game so if this leads to more creative options then I'm all for it.
  2. Living in Chicago, I hate the Cubs significantly more than the Cardinals. I would have taken the Cards in the playoffs this year if it meant the Cubs didn't make it 8 days a week. My sole baseball priority right now is rooting for the Cubs to lose as early as possible. Anything after that is gravy.
  3. Fantastic news (bonus points for an awesome logo). Would be nice if this works out of the club can just set down some roots so we don't have to do this again in 2 years.
  4. Those numbers don't mean as much as you think they do considering he has a sub .300 OBP.
  5. I think this deal would hinge 100% on the quality of the prospects for me and relatedly, how much value the Dodgers are assigning to Puig. I like Puig, but I would want him as a secondary piece to some quality prospects rather than the other way around. I wonder if we would try to get a third team involved to take Puig and funnel more prospects to us?
  6. Could have told you who started this thread without even seeing it lol. McCann is old, a jackass, and not very good. There is less than no reason to bring him on board. I suspect we will release Maldy and see what we have in Pina and Susac next year.
  7. I LOVE Villar, but I would not extend him until he proves that his awesome year wasn't just a blip on the radar. We frankly shouldn't be in a rush to extend anyone at this point.
  8. He's not even going to be available for all of the instructionals because of his ESPN job. Like I said before, this is a publicity stunt. http://deadspin.com/this-is-how-you-know-tim-tebow-is-serious-about-and-com-1786386379
  9. Very, very interesting. I would have hoped that we would have gotten a couple of legit prospects back along with Puig if we were giving up Braun. I'm guessing they'll revisit this offseason.
  10. Mendez was called up by the Rangers today so it's not him. Bummer.
  11. I really hope Stearns/Montgomery do a little house cleaning in the PD department this off season. This is not a franchise that can afford to have misses like this. He was so bad in our system.
  12. DWI, what a bummer. I hope this is just a small blip on the radar and he can get it back together and move on.
  13. Honest question: at what point do we worry about the fact that he's not walking at all? I suppose it's hard to walk when you're hitting literally everything in sight.
  14. Give me Villar and Isan Diaz over Segura any day of the week.
  15. I just want to reiterate that I love Keon Broxton and I hope the new Keon is the real Keon. What a find he would be if he turns out to be a Rickie Weeks type player with good defense in CF and speed. Would allow us not to rush Brinson or the other young bucks too.
  16. Technically Magnifico was optioned for Suter, with Flores being DFA'd to make room for Santana. Can't say that I will miss Flores.
  17. From Heyman's latest: Makes me think that Mendez is out for sure.
  18. I think the thing would be if we think our young outfielders are going to be ready sooner than later, then it might be time to capitalize on Braun's stellar season and move him (if the return is there). Better to deal a player a year too early than a year too late.
  19. The unfortunate thing is that I'm guessing most teams will see small market + salary + PEDs and only offer up a salary dump option. I'm on the record as kind of wanting him to stick around, but if we can get some legit prospects back for him this winter, it might be time.
  20. thank you mets for scuttling the Gomez trade last year.
  21. http://www.baseballamerica.com/business/new-landing-spot-emerges-missions/#qB4GqeoE8TJrOxKQ.97 Interesting article would have Fresno becoming our AAA affiliate and our rookie league team moving into Colorado Springs. Can't we just not do anything with Colorado???
  22. I guess it depends on how the team views the other infielders. He doesn't have any positional flexibility, so if they want to give some of the young outfielders a chance next year, pushing Perez to 3B, you could put Villar at 2nd and get rid of Scooter. Not saying its likely, but its possible.
  23. that's kind of surprising that fangraphs has him rated that low, but looking at his stats it kind of makes sense. I would love to move him for basically anything this off season, but I think a non-tender is more than likely. Maybe Stearns can get Arizona on the phone again.
