  1. Craig Counsell, professional rally killer ladies and gentlemen.
  2. thank god I decided not to go to this game. i'd probably be breaking things at the stadium with how poorly we've played. I completely agree with whoever said it will take a solo HR for us to win it. Lord knows that's probably what everyone is thinking when they step into the batters box.
  3. it'd be nice if we figured out how to win at home again and Sheets figured out how to pitch well again. August is tough, we have to take advantage of this stretch.
  4. the problem with that theory, cheesecup, is that the Cards actually have an inteligent manager and seem to play solid fundamental baseball. The Brewers, well, we're the Brewers.
  5. all after he got the first 2 outs too. makes it sting just a little bit more.
  6. how was the Soriano HBP? was it accidental or did Bush square up and drill him?
  7. Rickie against Harden??? Really Ned??? I like the fact that Corey is sitting, but why Durham and Branyan aren't playing is beyond me.
  8. with Quentin and Dye at the corners, Swisher in CF, Konerko at 1B and Thome at DH, this is a pretty strange move. Not to mention the fact that Griffey simply isn't very good anymore.
  9. outside of Hardy and Braun, I really don't have any confidence in anyone. Prince included.
  10. http://usera.imagecave.com/webloafer/please.jpg enough of this losing already! man up, forget about the last week and go out and beat the crap out of Dempster! Living in Chicago, coming into work the last 2 days has not been pleasant. I'd like to go into the weekend with my visions of a division championship (not to mention my dignity) somewhat in tact!
  11. I really hope one of them breaks their leg or something running around after all these hits. what a joke.
  12. I agree with Luke. this is absolutely ridiculous. how you follow up a 7-0 road trip with a 1-6 homestand is beyond me. we're going to be in 3rd freaking place by this weekend.
  13. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/07/29/accountability-time-for-weeks.aspx New blog up from the jsonline crew. Hard to disagree with the logic here. Rickie has had every opportunity to show he can play, we can't wait for him anymore if we're serious about making the post season.
  14. even though we lost the game, the Branyan homer off Nathan was the closest to pure, unadultered bliss i've ever come at a baseball game. It was absolutely surreal. If you were there, you know EXACTLY what i'm talking about.
  15. i'm of the opinion that unless it's the first inning, one pitcher shouldn't be left in long enough to give up 7 freaking runs. come on guys, we can't drop a home series vs Houston before the Cubs come into town!
  16. 5-2. I want a sweep of the Astros and a Cubs split or more realistically, 2-1 vs the Stros and 3-1 vs the Cubs. The pitchers are rolling, just need to get the offense heated up and we can do it.
  17. the asking price on Marte is pretty high because some people think he'll be a Type A free agent. the thing is, who is going to sign him if they have to give up a first round draft pick? nobody will. the Pirates need to adjust their expectations downward. besides, I highly doubt they'd trade him within the division. I'd love to have him though.
  18. let's hope the offense shows up tonight and Manny continues his hot streak!
  19. come on muscle, snap out of the cold streak
  20. If there's a huge delay can we go to Bush, or is it too late to pitch him and have him make his next start?
  21. I would really like to get this game in while we've got them on the ropes!
  22. ^^^ Those are some truly astounding stats. I knew we've been bad on the road the last couple of years, but not THAT bad.
  23. from Ken Rosenthal: The Orioles are taking a look at the Brewers' Triple A team, but it is believed that they are reluctant to part with more prospects. Who do we have in AAA that would be good enough to get Sherrill? I'm not a big Sherrill supporter (especially as of late), but if we can get him for a fringe major leaguer, it'd be nice to have another lefty in the pen not named Shouse or Stetter. That would also solve the 8th inning problem.
  24. as frustrating as our manager/front office my sometimes be, I am so thankful that I am not an Astros fan. This team has set itself back several years thinking they can contend with the Miggy and Valverde trades. What is even the point of this?
