  1. Tim redding dumped...he's suppan for less cash
  2. damn the torpedoes, i'll piss my pants if they actually resign CC
  3. hamburger ear muffs. glavin.
  4. Bare in mind that Escobar was a top 50 prospect when he was only so-so at the plate...after a good year, he's gonna shoot up.. best defensive SS in all of the minors? that's incredible...if he's ozzie smith, hitting for league average will make him one of the best shortstops in the league
  5. Raines, Henderson, and Dale Murphy Dale will never get in, but he was an incredible player for 7 years...
  6. The reason I was looking towards Lowe is because the Brewers are most likely going to sign a pitcher this off season...i predict that lowe will be the healhiest of the semi-affordable starters...and a decent value... as for the K thing, in 2007 he struck out more away and in 2008, his k9 was basically the same...the walk totals do go up, but even so his avg. away whip has been right around 1.30 i think it's reasonable to think he'll k very close to the same number of guys and have slightly more walks next year...his ERA will go up, but he should still be under 4... finally, and i hate myself for saying this, because its a small sample, but his road stats are skewed by one terrible outing at angels stadium and another at busch... nonetheless, i see your point...but i definitely think at same price, i'd rather have lowe for 200 innings than sheets for 120
  7. No team has ever made a trade with a japanese team...its not possible
  8. Derek Lowe at Rotoworld Pros: Derek Lowe has been consistently great since he signed with the Dodgers. He's also ben improving at striking players out over the last several year. On top of that, his walk rate has remained consistently good (if not improving). He's pitched more than 180 innings in every season since he became a starter in the bigs. He's supposedly looking for a four year deal at 16 million a year, but has suggested he'd take less to play for a contender. With that in mind, a 4 year 50 million dollar offer to Derek Lowe might just get it done. Cons: He definitely wants to pitch in Boston. He's also entering his age 36 season (he'd be 39 at the end of a four year deal). He's been pitching in Dodger Stadium, and that's where he's been the most consistenly dominate---his road ERA has been roughly 4 Even in his time in LA. So: I hate it when people just project a players road stats as his expected stats when he moves from a pitchers park. Undoubtedly, Derek's stats will take a slight hit with a move out of the Ravine, but I would think he'll throw 200 innings with a 3.7-3.8 ERA and a 1.30 Whip with about 140 k's versus 50 or so walks... He's not Sabathia...he's also not Sheets...but at nearly half the cost of Sabathia and being much more likely to throw a bunch of innings over his 4 year, he seems like an actual bargain in this market. It would be like the Suppan signing, except that derek Lowe wouldn't suck.
  9. This is the first of several random reliever signings of 2009...i'd rather have 5 guys like Julio than one Gagne... there's no way they'll expect him to close, but he's a fantastic gamble...
  10. The Clash ceased to be the clash when it was just joe strummer... although, they didn't... honestly, its so subjective that it really depends on if the new music is good.. for example, if Chinese Democracy is a critical smash, people will say "Gnr at its finest" if it's not, people will say "they wern't really gnr anyway" this seems like par for the course to me...
  11. From Jp's perspective, heading back to georgia might be a sweet deal...i would get to hear him a lot more often http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. then neither should like 95% of the guys in the hall...it should be ruth, aaron, mays, and walter johnson... it could be the corner of fame instead of the hall...
  13. definitely not...if anything, his stick should be better than Corey Hart's...so he's worth keeping around even if he never plays 3rd for a second.. i would deal gamel, but not because he's weak...i'd deal him because we were getting a superstar back...but thats about all
  14. Klosterman is post hipster---the true hipsters started thinking he was lame a few years ago... axl rose needs Kevin Barnes to give it an A-
  15. Slightly changing the subject, but i'm going to closely follow the mariners nd hope for Jack Z's success...
  16. "My guy Brent Brewer has an OPS of 770 as 20 year old in the AFL. Thats will be real impressive if he can maintain that over a larger sample. He is my breakout player for 2009. Think Lo Cain with the ability to play SS." I agree that brewer is a candidate to break out in a huge way...but i think brent brewer could be like jhony peralta with the bat...he's not going to be an obp guy...or really an average guy, but he's got crazy kinds of power potential, so i bet he hits 25 a year if he pans out... lo cain reminds me of carl crawford...though i like the randy winn comp...he's hard to project because there have been moments where he could do everything...i think the basement for him is something like (this is at peak of course) .280/.340/.460/.800...which would be good for a center fielder...he could be so much more than that, but its hard to project whether he'll develop the power in a huge way and be a superstar, or if he'll just be a major league regular type like Winn...hence the Hart comparison earlier...he's a better defender than Hart in my experience though...and he's much more intense that Huck
  17. already mentioned in the ddsm thread, but Cain's agent Josh says Cain didn't need to be added due to rules change last year
  18. Moose was a better pitcher in every way than jack morris in an ra with lots more offense...in the toughest division in the big leagues... he's no slam dunk, but he's a hall of famer...definitely more than Jack morris...Moose has more wins and k's... plus a considerably lower whip and ERA...he was really good for a really long time...
  19. that's really cool..i know raun wasn't as good as we all hoped last year, but he appears to be a legitimtae superstar...something the brewers appear to have 2-3 of (depending on CC)...that should guarantee a lot more all-star appearances and other cool stuff...especially since braun will be a brewer for like 6 more years
  20. lesnar is so unbelievably annoying that i hope he gets his teeth knocked out...i want to see anderson silva fight lesnar...hehe..
  21. rotoworld thinks the crew might jump at hoffman... i don't see it happening though..
  22. The power 50 is a reflection of their status as prospects, i does not have much to do with what level they are playing at of course, the level they reach and their age matter a grat deal when discussing prospect status, but status alone does not determine where a player plas in the system Chapman is in high A because he's been in the system much longer than those other guys...also, steve would be repeating in Brevard, so he's seemingly lost his prospect status. Chapman spent two whole years on the power 50 before this month, so he was once more highly regarded
  23. i would love to meet the high life guy...that is cooler than anything else...
  24. kelly johnson is as good if not better than hardy with the bat and he's already a 2b...why would the braves make that deal?
