  1. The Flaming Lips have a new album?! I need to get on that.
  2. I'm working currently working through: Daft Punk The National Portugal The Man (produced by Danger Mouse) Cold War Kids Vampire Weekend I need to get on listening to Queens of the Stone Age.
  3. I firmly believe there will be no suspensions for anyone. It's becoming more and more clear by he day that MLB has nothing and is just blustering. I don't think there's anything "clear" about this whole situation. Sure there is. Its clear MLB intends to get revenge through further public shaming of Braun since he showed the flaws in their drug testing program.
  4. The name is escaping me, but wasn't there an Olympian, a woman I believe, who actually had her case reversed after years because her sample had a false positive due to not being stored properly?
  5. I have a very hard time believing steroids or PEDs in general selectively add only slow twitch muscles and mass to the upper body. There are a lot of different banned substances. A lot of them even reduce fat more than add muscle which in and of itself can make you faster. From personal experience, I've taken some prohormones for various personal reasons and the one particular lift that went through the roof was squats. I'm glad you provided sources, but this just isn't logical.
  6. He isn't about to be suspended.
  7. That deadspin article previously linked is really well done. I hope everyone reads it instead of using sensationalist crap from ESPN to form their opinion. Here it is again: http://deadspin.com/10-or-so-thoughts-on-biogenesis-a-scandal-for-all-the-511484352
  8. No he didn't. He had his suspension overturned because following testing procedures is what makes testing viable in the first place. Actually, they attempted to but MLB wouldn't allow them to do a DNA test. You really need to read up on how drug testing works. I'm not going to continue picking apart your post but there is a lot of factually wrong information in it.
  9. Are you saying I'm not hungover? Because I sure feel hungover. Haha, thanks for clearing that up. I read you post like 3 times and was really confused.
  10. That's not true, I think the posters with the most experience on here would be able to tab him as not a starter almost immediately. Nobody on here is an actual scout, but if you're a fan or speculator, shouldn't you be making logical guesses on these guys? If he somehow carves out an Eckstein or Counsell career, more power to him, but that is such a tough thing to do. I don't think the most experienced Marlins fans had a "wait and see" attitude on their season before its started in terms of World Series potential. I think people are just trying to reign in the expectations that the general crowd at the game has about guys like Tony Gwynn Jr. and Gennett. People fall in love with a slappy .300 hitter that "puts the ball in play" and when Hunt calls him "can't miss" one has to put out the realistic expectations. I know that many on here may know the reality of it, but nobody is calling Logan Schafer a "can't miss" prospect because he is correctly tabbed as a 4th OF that could develop into a nice starter. I guess it just brings a little reaction when Hunt and the general fan fall overly in love with slap hitters with a cool name like Gennett or Gwynn, Jr. Batting average isn't necessarily a "throw-away" stat, but talking about how he's hitting .300 in the minors all the time on the broadcasts throws off a lot of people that don't understand it can be a misleading stat. Maybe its my hangover, but I can't quite figure out how you are disagreeing with what I posted.
  11. Actually, Scooter had the most fan reaction after being announced of all the Brewers players at last night's game. He easily drew the most applause by far. Huh, they must have all gone out and gotten tickets just to see him then.
  12. I HATE that because I'm keeping an open mind and don't have enough information to make an informed decision one way or another some people think I'm a homer or living in denial. I don't know enough about anybody on this board other than my interpretations of the words they write. And Bruce, this isn't at all directed at you. I just read through this thread and see some people who several years ago would have been standing on the street corner, cheering OJ's white Bronco as it drove by. Conspiracy theories, information leaks, using the media to do dirty work, bending one's self into impossible yoga positions to create scenarios where Braun is innocent--or guilty. I'm willing to let the system play out, and to largely believe that someone is guilty or not guilty based on how they emerge from the process. All I'm saying is that it's possible that Braun did things that will result in a suspension. And even that statement causes some to get all frothy. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Braun used something banned to recover from injury. I also wouldn't be shocked if we somehow found out he was 100% clean. But that doesn't make me a homer or mean that I am living in denial, it just means I have a technical background and need proper information to form an opinion.

  14. Most fans on this site are fully aware of the scouting projection on Scooter "Ryan" Gennett. However, the posters with the most experience here on this site are wise enough to wait on judging a player (calling him a untility man or starter) until we see what he can do in the majors over an extended period of time. Most of the posters here are also wise enough to know that Scooter isn't going to draw fans to the ball park. They also know that the chances of him being a significant player on a winning Brewers team is pretty low...not non existent, just low.
  15. Same except I don't like Daenerys. Why don't you like her? From the show or because of the books if you've read them? If from the books, please don't spoil anything. Anyway, I think she is easy to root for. Hates slavery, becoming stronger, overcoming a lot, ect, ect. I'd add Bran to the list of people to root for and I may come around to Stanis...sort of a similar enemies thing.
  16. This is irrelevant as Segura provides plus defense at SS.
  17. Reviving this thread as I just finally manned up enough to stop crying in the fetal position and go into work. Even after seeing what happened to Ned in Season 1, that wedding was just insane.
  18. Yea, they sold out while I was in a meeting. I've gone the past 5 years, but this year I barely managed to get single day tickets before they sold out. Actually, I couldn't even get single day tickets, my buddy was able to get extras for me and my girlfriend while I was stuck in the online waiting room. Why? The speculation is that more went to ticket brokers. There were also thousands available on Stubhub right away for double face, so people were buying as many as they could just to resell. This will probably be my last year, its not worth it anymore.
  19. No kidding, though mostly I think the wig looked particularly odd and she currently has short hair so they had to do something.
  20. 3 episodes in and I'm not sold. You can tell they really had to work around not being able to get all the characters together. And there has been a lot of exposition. Its also really odd to see Michael's character not as the straight man. I'm hoping to make it through by the end of the week or next weekend so then I will be able to make a better judgement. Still some very funny bits, especially the no tipping part.
  21. On the flip side, Weeks could get better on the bench if it allows him to clear his head. Sometimes working harder isn't what fixes you.
  22. I'd love to see a gif of Aria Stark shooting arrows as she says those names.
  23. Maybe it has to do with run distribution. Good offenses go in spurts. Good pitching/defense seems to be more consistent. Keep yourself in the game by keeping the score low and you give yourself a better chance to win? Just throwing that out there with no data to back it up.
  24. Actually, Kotsay started in CF, not RF, but stupidity noted. In game three, Kotsay started in center. In game four, he started in right field, and Corey Hart, who'd started game 3 in right, sat out. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN201110130.shtml Well, in terms of dumbest things you've ever seen a manager do, I'd say Kotsay's start in CF was much worse.
