  1. Hindsight, 20/20, blahblahblah There were a lot of us who advocated a move prior to the start of the season. Its not hindsight as much as an oversight by management.
  2. I want to find the thread from this offseason where someone told me I was an idiot for suggesting Lucroy might regress a little at the plate this year. EDIT: Found it, I'm petty, but not petty enough to post the exchange. And I wasn't insulted, just an odd exchange where a poster "expected" a .300+ BA going forward.
  3. Then you don't send him home from 3b if theres a chance of a play at the plate. Again, his Run was only insurance he wasn't the go ahead run. And there's 2 outs. The move made no sense. It's like Roenicke drew up the automatic remove ARam idea late in the game when he gets on base but failed to recognize the use of it in a proper situation. Meaning, was he the lead run on base. With 1 out it makes sense since Braun could have been forced out and thus resulting in ARam being the lead run. But that wasn't the case. And being 2outs that also removes the factor of ARam having to maybe go in hard at 2nd base to maybe break up a double play. His force out ends the inning. So I see no injury risk with 2outs and ARam on the Base paths. It was actually the perfect scenario you could ask for, for the Brewers, in being able to leave him in the game. Roenicke didn't recognize it. You don't. NO, ALL PLAYERS MUST BE SENT HOME IF THERE IS EVEN A SLIGHT CHANCE THEY MIGHT SCORE!!!
  4. I've been around just as long. How does one poster breaking 2 rules imply that the whole thread be locked? Typically, posts are just edited with a note from a mod.
  5. Aaron really was incredible like that. Alot of scouts saw a similar bat speed quality with Rickie Weeks, which led to Weeks being the #1 pick. It sure looked like Rickie could've been a superstar but alas it seems not meant to be. Not that any of that about Weeks has anything to do with Segura but the comments about Aaron and bat speed had me thinking about the way I used to think about the potential of Rickie Weeks when he was in AA & AAA ball. The difference being that Aaron was a solid .300 hitter who could lay off the outside curveball in ways that Weeks never has. Weeks' wrist injuries may have effected his ability to deal with the high fastball too I really love watching Jean Segura play baseball. As a Little League coach, I think the attitude, hustle and pure apparent love for the game that both Segura and Carlos Gomez display are qualities that any coach at any level would love to see in their players. Add to that the great athletic talent and speed and you can see why Segura has the potential to be a fan favorite for many years. Not to nitpick, but Weeks was the #2 pick behind Delmon Young.
  6. I thought it merited more discussion. Yes, there was some rehashed thoughts, but some new stuff as well. At the very least, it would be nice to have an explanation.
  7. People don't like Matt Kemp?
  8. Yea, if you read his posts none of that is whats happening here. Anyway, I had a somewhat similar incident when my last tenants moved into my condo. The people on the floor below instantly started emailing me every day to complain about the noise. After speaking with my tenants and a few other neighbors, it became obvious that the tenants weren't doing anything abnormal in the space they were paying to live in. Simply walking around in socks was too loud for the neighbors below (I was the only other person to live above them and I was never home so any noise was new to them). In the end, we had to tell the neighbor below to more or less deal with it and to not harass my tenants who have a right to live their lives in their space without making excessive noise. The neighbors had no legal recourse and the board was sick of them because apparently they had been complaining about pretty much everything over the past few years. You simply can't please everyone, and you certainly shouldn't rearrange your life just because someone can't play nice. If people don't want to be bothered by neighbors, they need to move out of a city or save up enough money to buy a bigger lot. Otherwise, find a way to coexist with people who are reasonably living their lives.
  9. Dude, well done. Time to enjoy what you've accomplished.
  10. Personally, I'd start smoking more.
  11. Completely agree with this.
  12. I'm about the last person who could tell you what kind of PC setup you need. I ran it on a fairly old computer with all the settings turned down just fine, but noticed a huge improvement when I put in a videocard that cost around $100.
  13. I got a new video card in anticipation of playing SimCity 5 (which I luckily was able to get a refund for, what a piece of crap) but it motivated me to purchase another PC game I had been hearing things about. I can't recommend Kerbal Space Program enough. Its still in development, so right now its just a sandbox game, but its so much fun and very challenging. The idea is basically you build space ships, launch them, the pilot them. The characters are cartoonish, but the rockets, physics, and solar system you play in are very real. There is no official goal or career path yet, but thats fine with me. Right now just getting a craft into orbit is challenging. I finally got a space station started, and I've also been able to do a flyby of the moon. Actually landing on the moon and docking with the space station are the next steps. I may integrate them, upgrading the space station to be a refueling station. You can also build space planes which I haven't even touched yet.
  14. I had a family member tell me he had a buddy who always had a bottle of JD in his glove compartment. His plan was that if he ever got pulled over while buzzed up immediately upon stopping he would take the keys out of the ignition, throw them out the window, then stick his hands out the window with the bottle, open the door, step out, and chug as long as he could before it got taken by the cop. His thought was that then if he blew above a .08 they would be unable to prove he was operating while intoxicated since it could have come from drinking after driving in front of the officer. I've always been a little surprised I've never heard of some idiot doing this. You would think it would get picked up on the news or internet.
  15. Wow, this is the first I've heard of this. I had always heard how effortless his delivery is.
  16. FWIW, you know that your Grandpa.can get arrested.for OWI on his motor-powered.bicycle, right?? Oh, shoot. Ah.. No, I didn't know that, and I feel like an idiot for not thinking about that. I screwed up on this one. He seemed pretty happy that he got it. We will see how long it lasts. I could tell him that he could still get arrested, but I don't think he'll listen. I'm really hoping this whole turn is a joke.
  17. Here is a list of transfers that could be targeted according to Crackedsidewalks (an excellent MU blog). They also have a writeup of each if you follow the link: http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2013/04/looking-at-transfer-list.html
  18. I think MU will have no problem getting him where he needs to be. There was an article in the JS not too long ago about how good their facilities and training are. They spend more money per basketball player than any other school in the country not named Duke. Sure, that doesn't transfer directly to results, but it still speaks volumes.
  19. Exactly. You look at there behavioral patterns. FYI, he is disagreeing with you.
  20. I'd really like to take your word for it, but this seems completely and hopelessly irrelevant.
  21. All this said, now I feel as though I'm coming off as some crazy drunk and that's not the case. My girlfriend and I certainly wish we were a little less involved in our lifestyle than we are and have been making a lot of attempts to do other things besides going to bars or parties (running is easily #1). I just want to make it very clear to everyone here that there are people who on occasion hit high levels of intoxication at every age who aren't bad people, who don't have drinking problems, and who aren't endangering anyone else. Sweeping generalizations on this topic seem rather close minded.
  22. I said: Someone said that if .22 is a problem drinker than 50% of college students have drinking problems. Yes, yes they do. Some of those people will grow up and a grow out of it and become productive members of society. Some will be lifelong drunks and some will beat it with treatment. But yes, at the moment they do have a problem. I never said you and your friends werent productive members of society. I said that college kids, who likely are not gainfully employed and who drink to excess regularly, have a binge drinking problem and that many of them out grow that. I read what you said as the group of those college kids (me and my friends) who don't grow out of it wont become productive members of society. And that the options are either being lifelong drunks or beating the problem with treatment. Am I being too sensitive here or did I just completely misread what you wrote? Or did you mean something other than what you wrote? Probably somewhere in the middle, I just want you to understand that not everyone who binge drinks in college has a problem. Hell, not everyone who binge drinks in college isn't a productive member of society at that time either. I could give tons of examples there too, myself being one of them. In college, I was into work by 7 the morning after summerfest literally making public roadways safer.
  23. I think a lot of the disagreement in this thread really boils down to the somewhat continued use of words like "anyone" or "everyone." And some of the other generalizations. If I have 12 beers on a Tuesday night when I work a regular 40 hour week in general thats not a good sign. However, I've had weekends for example where I went to a party on Friday night and didn't drink because I wanted to get in a run Saturday morning, then that Saturday I had 12+ beers starting at 11 because there was an early Badger football game. Hell, I've even had weekends like there were I worked 8+ hours on Sunday (usually not feeling too great but still). In that example, do people really think that's a problem? I'm not trying to argue, I'm just curious what the general perception of my lifestyle is.
  24. I never in any sense insinuated that drinking 12 beers or a .22 isn't binge drinking so not sure why you are arguing that. Binge drinking is just a label I could care less about. I took offense to you deciding through sweeping generalizations that me and many of the people I know have drinking problems and aren't productive members of society, which you still haven't addressed.
