  1. Please read what he wrote. Nowhere does he knock Mma, he clearly states his opinion why he doesn't watch it. I read what he wrote. He very clearly knocks it. Personally, I don't get why HGH use isn't just allowed for serious recovery if its deemed applicable by a physician. As ticket holders shouldn't we want these athletes to get the best medical care they can.
  2. It would have defused none of the anger. He said the same thing before so nobody would have believed him. Glad to here Mark say it since that carries a lot more weight.
  3. I feel like you couldn't possibly be more condescending. I also feel like you don't understand the difference between fact and opinion.
  4. Invader...No dig intended here but I am just curious how any Brewer fan can be a huge Braun fan given how he has handled this entire situation to date? Sure, he can remedy some of this by future actions as you mentioned. However, given that he has lied constantly since November 2011, thrown the franchise into turmoil by being a $20m/year PED user with a 65 game suspension and left his teammates, coaches and front office to answer questions while he runs off without apparently giving them a full explanation as to why he was suspended, I struggle to understand remaining a huge Braun fan today. If he continues to put up all star numbers going forward I will be a Braun fan. He will be helping my team win and took his suspension when it would be least detrimental. Whats not to like? That he's a bad guy? I can get past that.
  5. It sounds like you are advocating being responsible adults here. I suppose I could get behind that. How responsible was Braun yesterday? Putting out some cryptic statement where he only quasi admits guilt for something, bails out of town without answering a single question, and instead leaves it all for his manager, GM, and teammates to face the fire of all the media questions. How swell of him. I guess we'll find out going forward if Ryan is going to be willing to put himself out there to face the same tough questions which his manager, GM, and teammates had to face yesterday or if instead he'll just refuse to give clear and honest answers to many questions which deserve to be asked of him. He alone is one who can provide some real clarity to everything instead of leaving things mostly up to speculation. What exactly he took. When he started taking what took. How long he took any banned substances. Why he chose to lie so forcefully. Why he thought it was ok to cast doubt on the collector. Until the day comes that he faces the music in an interview where he's truthful and answers many tough questions without a bunch of vague answers, i don't think he has a right at all to complain about any reporting which may have inaccuracies, fans jumping to certain conclusions, or inaccurate speculations. His silence will only be fuel to all of that if or until he chooses to provide the real answers. So you're advocating doing what Braun has done instead? Lie, cheat, ect? Now I'm confused.
  6. This has nothing to do with Braun's actions but this is a seriously underappreciated part of the conversation about PEDs in sports. The NFL has a serious storm coming if they begin to test for PEDs. I imagine that HGH use in MLB in the late 90s early 2000s versus the PED use in NFL today still would lean in favor the NFL. I HATE to throw names out there, but a large part of me is really curious to see how the people that want Braun off their team would react if a several game suspension came for their favorite defensive player in Green Bay from PEDs.
  7. You're right that being a Brewer fan, and specifically a Ryan Braun fan, is going to be hard knocks for quite some time, but what makes perpetuating name calling the right course of action? I don't see how referring to him as "Lyin' Ryan" helps the conversation, especially when we don't know what he was (or was not) lying about. It sounds like you are advocating being responsible adults here. I suppose I could get behind that.
  8. True, but with big celebrity comes big expectations. If I lie and continue to lie, the impact is limited to me and my family. Braun is a public figure, the most celebrated Brewer since Yount, the most highly paid player in franchise history, and the iconic image of the team. He didn't shy away from any of that. Even though K-Rod and Gallardo's incidents were more criminal, they will pale in comparison to Braun's. It's how we know that Derek Jeter gives gift bags to the women who share his bedroom, but don't know anything about the way other players spend their free time. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Yea, he's a recent MVP and one of the top players in the game, not someone like say Melky Cabrera. Take the NFL. Have someone like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady get busted for roids, it's simply going to be a vastly bigger story than if some random lineman or cornerback gets busted. Mix in that if Manning or Brady got busted, got off on a technicality, then forcefully lied multiple times to the faces of everyone, only to later get busted again, it would be a massive massive story that dominated news coverage for awhile. Seriously, could you imagine if a #2 overall pick, Rookie of the year, and runner up for DPOY were to be busted for PEDs!
  9. Haven't seen this posted: http://www.thenation.com/blog/174655/decriminalize-game-solution-baseballs-drug-wars#
  10. No. He's supposed to act a bit more humble when he get's off on a technicality (and let's be realistic..it was a technicality). I'm probably going to get destroyed for this right now, but this end result still doesn't make what happened with Braun's test a "technicality." If I test my well water after mixing it with my neighbor's well water and get high levels of nitrates that test doesn't conclude that my well has high levels of nitrates. I may discover later that it actually does, but that doesn't mean that the test was correct.
  11. He's owed $122 million and it appears that MLB's evidence showed that he was doping for an extended period of time. There is a good chance that he was doping all the way back to his time in college in Miami. If that is the case, it seems unlikely that he will be able to produce anywhere near the $15-20 million/year level that he will be paid for the rest of the decade. What GM would be crazy enough to take a $120 million risk on a known steroid user that is currently nearly universally despised within MLB? A trade isn't happening. My guess is that at least 75% of GMs would take his contract no questions asked at this point.
  12. Do people honestly believe Braun wont be worth his contract going forward? If you want to trade Braun, not out of an emotional reaction, this pretty much has to be your opinion and that seems like quite a leap.
  13. This is the second time you have insulted others on this board who don't share your opinion. Some just want to keep an open mind, and this includes not looking down on others. Please try to keep that in mind.
  14. And he said this in the Q&A session right after his statement: “Again, I honestly don’t know what happened to it for that 44-hour period. There are a lot of different things that could have possibly happened. There were a lot of things that we heard about the collection process, the collector and some other people involved in the process that have certainly been concerning to us. But beyond that, as I’ve dealt with this situation, I know what it’s like to be wrongly accused of something and for me to wrongly accuse somebody else of something wouldn’t help anybody.” While it looks bad now, he did NOT throw the collector under the bus. There's a lot to criticize about him. That's not one of the things though.
  15. Actually Braun went out of his way to later say he didn't want to accuse the collector of anything. Its just that the part of the interview where he said that was always left out because the other quote taken out of context made Braun look bad.
  16. ESPN spread leaks and uninformed information that other news agencies didn't feel was verified enough to publish. They were in the wrong and that hasn't changed.
  17. Can't speak for everyone, but I misconstrued what was said when I said "same" to thebruce. I'm lookin forward to a higher draft pick, basically. I didn't mean for people to get so hung up on the specifics of what I was suggesting. The point was that we move on and try to improve the team in other areas with the money saved in a lost season.
  18. Paul Molitor using cocaine did not make him a better player than those who chose not to break the law (or the rules of baseball) by using cocaine. Have you used cocaine? Have you ever played 162 games of baseball in a single season? It seems to be uppers could significantly help you.
  19. This is nearly exactly how I feel. My first thought was how much salary this clears up for draft picks and/or international signings.
  20. Without knowing the circumstances, is taking a PED that's past the arbitrary line MLB draws wrong?
  21. He didn't throw the collector under the bus unless you read one out of context sentence. He attacked the process. And for all we know, especially given the strange circumstances surrounding the failed test, its possible it was a false positive.
  22. Hate to say it, but then you probably shouldn't watch any professional sports.
  23. No, but you could say that Peralta has pitched a 2.52ERA (if I did my math correctly) his last 64.2 innings (the months of June+July). So I am more confident each time out on what you can plan for from Peralta in 2014. Ok, I don't think its wise to base major team structuring off 64.2 innings. Yes, its nice to see Peralta on a pace that might make him an average starter by the end of the season. It would be great if he could be a solid 2 next year, or even an above average 3.
  24. I don't think its wise to base major team structuring off 35 innings.
  25. everything ive read has said any state/federal involvement will only be related towards the regulations/requirements by the Department of Health for the substances being controlled and sold by Biogenisis and not be involved with MLB and the players. Unless of course MLB tells them not to investigate it because they can apparently give immunity now, or rather put in a good word.
