  1. Haha...the port-o-pottie running thing was probably the highlight of the day for me until it got a little too rough. When the chairs started flying I decided to get out of there. About 5 minutes later a guy had his forhead split open by a whiskey bottle.
  2. Wow, that was a lot of fun. I would recommend a trip down there for everyone. The infield was a mess, especially the rowdy turn 3. I feel like I saw and did it all but if I go back it would be nice to have access to some indoor seats even if they are more expensive. We met up with some people who had a tarp setup so we could get out of the rain for a couple of hours, but without that it would have been pretty miserable.
  3. Sounds right up my alley. Should be a good time.
  4. Anyone ever been? I just scored a free ride down there and free hotel for 2 nights. All I have to pay for is an infield ticket which is $45 I think. I know its supposed to rain pretty badly during the day, but I am sure it will still be a lot of fun. What is appropriate attire for the infield? I am sure it isn't as dressy as the main areas, but I was still thinking about wearing some old seersucker pants and a linen button down. Maybe now a rain jacket.
  5. Trevor's fastball sets up his changeup. His fastball is so effective because of his superior location and because of the difference in speed to the changeup. Right now he is not locating his fastball, rendering his changeup less effective (if he even gets the chance to throw it). I blame this entirely on the decision to have him sit out most of spring training.
  6. http://www.dailycardinal....tion-locations-1.1348386 The station, which would facilitate transportation for Wisconsin’s high-speed rail that is expected to connect Madison to Milwaukee, will be located at the Dane County Regional Airport, the Kohl Center, Monona Terrace or East Washington Avenue.
  7. Thats funny KegStand. I actually live 2 blocks from the Metra and El tracks in Evanston right now. I rarely notice the Metra or El (the Metra can get up to 79 mph) so I know what you are talking about. I think the idea to move this downtown is probably a good one in the long run. I am curious to find out the final locations as well. I go to a badger game or so a year and have family in the area. The Airport would have worked, but as others have noted from the beginning, this will certainly be more convenient.
  8. I think you really misunderstood the article. It explicitly states that Hoffman and Macha both said he would get some work on Thursday. Then when asked about the downtime Hoffman weighed in on the risks that are fairly obvious, that saves usually come in bunches. Read it again. Its pretty obvious Macha and Trevor are on the same page that he was going to pitch and that Hoffman was just answering questions to say that he wasn't too concerned about the downtime.
  9. Does 2008 count?
  10. Funny stuff.
  11. He consistently gets the most production out of the talent he has available to him. Thats the mark of a good coach.
  12. Yes, this was covered in Forbes and by several recent AP articles. Still, I don't see what it has to do with this thread at all. As for realignment, I personally like the current format. I understand that sometimes bad teams will get in, but with the Wild Card that usually isn't as big of a problem. I think the current format also fosters more rivalries.
  13. So far he has seen 71% fastballs and only 4.2% sliders. Over the last two seasons, as most here know, he has destroyed fastballs and struggled with sliders. It is very likely that in a couple of weeks the % of sliders will jump up to his norms of +20% while the number of fastballs will drop to 50%. He is likely to struggle a lot more when seeing that ratio of pitches.
  14. I disagree. I think I would take the Miller Park crowd any day over the Wrigley neanderthal-like atmosphere. Maybe if the Miller Park crowd starts throwing trash on the field I'll change my tune. I didn't care for the booing after Hoffman's outing last night, either, though. I'm normally one to say the fans can boo if they want, but it seemed a little over the top. He gave up a pair of home runs to two of the absolute best hitters in the game. It's not like he's Jeff Suppan going out there...he's a future Hall of Famer and should be given a bit more respect. For what its worth, I am constantly challenged to fights just for wearing Brewers stuff around Wrigleyville. When I am up in MKE and someone is wearing Cubs gear, I hardly ever see Brewer fans walking up to him one after another to tell them how much they suck and how badly they could kick their ---. But lets face it, $8 312 pints can make you a little beligerent.
  15. Can anyone find a video of the Brady Clark catch? I remember it, but would still like to watch. That same season didn't David K have a pretty amaizing catch where he climbed the wall in left center? As for greatest Brewers play all the time, I would say the Clark catch, but the most famous is probably Robin Yount at the end of Nieves' nono.
  16. Melvin himself has said that speed players and left handed pitchers often develop slower than regular players. There is still plenty of hope for Gomez to figure out one of the more mental aspects of the game in pitch recognition.
  17. I wonder if the Lincecum signing made a difference. Elite young pitchers are going to get paid during their arby years either way. Might as well lock down a FA year or two.
  18. Hart hasn't been an average defender for 2 years. That being said, Dye brings a whole new definition to crappy defense.
  19. I meant you should have learned that politics are not allowed here.
  20. Fascinating data!
  21. You really should have picked up on it from the High Speed Rail thread.
  22. Which is why at this point we have to trust Macha to fill out the lineup card correctly since he has been watching him all spring. No point in trying to argue or second guess about something when none of us have the necessary information.
  23. Rcon and Creamcity, You will find that a lot of posters on Brewer message boards around the internet take the reports from Tom and Anthony at face value. I haven't met Mat in person and I am assuming you both have not either, but I do believe he is a professional and now knows what it takes to be a major leaguer. Unless you have met him, I wouldn't let a negative report from Witrado influence your opinion of Mat as a person. This is the same reporter who just wrote that Edmonds might not accept if offered a spot on the MLB roster. Edmonds and Adam McCalvey tried to rectify that situation the very next day and it now appears as though Edmonds will be joining the team proving that the implications of that article were bogus. See the JS Online Sports Staff keeps getting worse thread. There is often some misleading reporting going on over there. Mat now has to deal with a fan base that thinks he need to "mature as a person" and all he did to earn that rep was come up to Milwaukee, sit on the bench, and produce at an above average level. Seems like he now has even more to deal with in his young career. And as others have said, he seems like he could be an excellent number 2 hitter down the road. I would like his swing to be a little shorter so he can make easier contact and still be successful in pitchers counts, but he may be our best option down the road.
  24. With playoff races routinely finishing with teams 1-2 games apart, I think its actually fairly likely Soup staying on the roster for the first 2 months of the year could be the difference.
