  1. I support manfred not because I don't believe in change but because I love the human aspect of the game. If it was up to me all replay would be eliminated and we would just deal with the fallout come what may.
  2. Just saw that he also hit the first two home runs in Milwaukee Brewers history. I didn't know that until today.
  3. Just ran across this while online. Former 1970-1971 original Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Danny Walton passed away last week, apparently due to a motorcycle accident. RIP http://www.lindquistmortuary.com/notices/Daniel-Walton
  4. .182 / .182 / .364 slash line for vogt over three games with the timber rattlers. should be on his way to des moines to join the sky sox, who start play there tomorrow. I'm not certain his slash line is terribly important as a measuring tool for a three game period while coming off injury.
  5. So they're holding up a number for a part-time coach? I mean, whatever, it isn't the end of the world, but it just seems silly. Yes. Just like they don't issue numbers that other coaches wear either.
  6. It's silly and historically stupid. Cecil Cooper was, by several factors, a better player than Jim Gantner was. I mean, I love 'em both, grew up in the late 70s/80s, etc., but if the Brewers issue 15 they ought to issue 17. Has any media outlet every written about why this is? Because Jim Gantner still throws batting practice and serves as a part time coach with the team and Cecil Cooper does not.
  7. Guess I am a Debbie downer but I think this is really lame and overly contrived.
  8. Fine. One start isn't likely to change his overall value very much.
  9. I for one like Counsell a lot and think he is a pretty decent manager. That being said I don't think that contract size necessarily has a ton to do with the decision of an organization to let a manager go. They make peanuts compared to the players.
  10. Villar's value is nearly nil now. Can't see him getting arbitration offer from anyone after this trainwreck of a season. I just threw him in there rather than releasing him when Lowrie or another 2B comes aboard. Lowrie is a fine stopgap paired with Perez until Dubon or Hiura takes over full time a year or so from now. For what it's worth we have no idea what Villar's value is. You may be right. You may also find that gm's like a cost controlled guy who put up great numbers last season enough to put more value on him than you do.
  11. You know this reminds me of how loyal of a state we tend to be when it comes to the Brewers. According to Facebook likes every county favors the Brewers except the four closest to Minneapolis. Pretty impressive when three other teams are within spitting distance of your border. You would think the Cubs would rule the majority of Illinois, but when the study was done most of the Illinois counties liked the Cardinals. I am not calling you out but I am very surprised that the Brewers are the number one baseball team for Racine and Kenosha counties. Just seems anecdotally like the Cubs dominate conversation there given the Chicago demographics.
  12. That's old school baseball. The manager's boss is a kid. So was Theo Epstein in Boston.
  13. Cool, thanks. Will take a look. Ok the surface of it seems like 49th out of 50 things I am concerned about costing us games at the moment.
  14. I've posted the link a few times...but the Brewers tend to get a lot of bad calls from the home plate umpire. Yep. The 'it all evens out' theory has been pretty well disproven. Send the link. Would be interested in reading that. Seems pretty unlikely to me given a 162 game schedule unless you are arguing that the umpires have nefariously conspired against the Brewers. Would suggest that not scoring runs and poor bullpen outings have led to far more losses this season for us than anything else.
  15. Lots of complaining about the umps but pretty sure that their "bad" calls go for and against both teams and usually has absolutely nothing to do with why we end up losing games.
  16. It's bona fide Hes got prospects. I'm a dapper Dan man myself
  17. Regarding the RBI baseball I am 99% sure that was with Boston. Great reference point.
  18. I believe that Baylor also has the unique distinction of appearing on three AL Champion teams in three consecutive years and with each year it being a different team. Must have been Boston in '86, Minnesota in '87, and Oakland in '88.
  19. The difference is that Gantner is often asked to come back and be on an on-field assistant during batting practice and warmups. Sort of like a non-official member of the coaching staff. Even though he doesn't suit up for games he still always has worn number 17 during the times I have seen him in uniform during BP and I am fairly positive he still has a locker in the clubhouse.
  20. Any speculation as to who the dinosaur might be? Perhaps CC is bringing back some good vibes by channeling this group of guys: https://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.jsonline.com%2Fimages%2Fbrewers90411.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jsonline.com%2Fsports%2Fbrewers%2F129244373.html%2F&docid=K0ZmBmlNTvtr9M&tbnid=WQzqape0yIDtUM%3A&vet=1&w=2560&h=1920&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim
