  1. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/02/brewers-marcum-have-yet-to-talk-extension.html Marcum is open to an extension. I think we kinda new that. I would love to start talking extension with him after the first few months of the season. He scared me with his horrible playoff performance. I would just want to make sure his arm is okay.
  2. I think Wilson has some anxiety/mental issues and that might've had something to do with his quick exit. I haven't been to Summerfest in years. I get anxiety myself about all the crowds and can't stand not being able to take two steps without having to move around someone. Guess I'm just getting older and less tolerant of that stuff. I'm also used to seeing bands in tiny venues and I prefer that to the big shows, especially the Ampitheater. The band I'd most like to see again live is the Arcade Fire and if they played the Ampitheater I probably wouldn't even go. That venue isn't worth it to me unless you're willing to spend the big bucks to sit up front. I saw the Foo Fighters from the lawn, I think that's the last show I saw there.
  3. Yep, it's with Brian Wilson for the first time in years - and that's why they're a headliner now.
  4. I didn't really want to start a new thread to share this... but I did want to share it. Speaking of 2011 keepsakes, I made this with all the streamers, confetti, rally towels, ticket stubs, etc from the 2011 playoff run. I also used some of the Brewer baseball card set I bought when I visited the Hall of Fame this fall. I think it turned out pretty cool and is now one of my most cherished possessions. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/a6b15a9a84443498b205c9ccd4dc5ab49d549c0.jpg
  5. I could definitely see Ramirez moving over to 1B anytime over the life of his contract... which is kind of a nice option to have.
  6. Just watched The Help today... absolutely fantastic uplifting movie. I don't know why I had reservations about seeing it, but I hope it somehow wins Best Picture.
  7. Pittsburgh was our last stop on a two week road trip this past fall. Saw Fenway, Camden Yards, and PNC - and PNC was my favorite of them all. We were there on 9/11, just for one day. Got $20 scalped tickets for 2nd row down in RF. Had a great time, hit the Andy Warhol museum afterward, then went to Fat Daddy's for better than average bar food. Seemed like an underrated city, we'll be going back.
  8. I just had to quote this. That is all.Yeah, I have no idea what that post was about but I laughed quite a bit regardless!
  9. My favorite city in the US! Been there twice (once pre-hurricane, once post-hurricane), and I will probably be going a third time sometime in the next year. My favorite dinner last trip there was at Jacque-Imo's, so I second that recomendation. Excellent place in Uptown. We didn't have a car last time we were there, and I didn't think it was much of a problem. The St. Charles streetcar can get you to a lot of places cheaply if you don't mind it taking a little longer. We walked everything during the day and took cabs at night. WWII museum is great, and at the very least go and see the movie that plays there. I forget the name, but you can pay for just the movie, just the museum, or both. It's narrated by Tom Hanks, is "4-D", and is worth every penny of the $12 or so it costs. And I'm not a war buff at all. Harrah's is huge if you're into gambling. Another place my girlfriend and I loved was Camelia Grill. There's one in the Quarter and then the original out in the Garden District area, I believe. It's a diner and they have great omelettes, pie, and burgers. Very charming place. I also second Coop's on Decatur. There was no one in there when we went though. It's a hole in the wall with cheap prices and no frills. Speaking of which, Casamento's is another cheap place with good food - especially if you're into oysters. I'm not, but they had good fried seafood there too. And we waited quite awhile to get a table there, but it was worth it. Went to Emeril's. The one just called "Emeril's". It was excellent but expensive, of course. Great service and food. Our big splurge meal of the trip. I'm 31 and my girlfriend is 27 and we didn't hang around Bourbon St. much either, but at the end of it is Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, which is the oldest bar in town and doesn't have electricity. Pretty cool unique place... but I heard that they recently got electricity so they could watch Saints games... not sure if that's true or not. We did a walking tour of the Garden District, and that was cool and worth the money, I thought. The guide knew her stuff and just walked us all over the place telling us the history of the houses and all the famous people that live there. (Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, The Mannings, Nic Cage, etc) If I think of anyone else I'll post... I hope you have a great time, I think New Orleans has a spirit and energy to it that you can't find anywhere else. Share your trip with us when you get back!
  10. Yeah, I liked Super 8 too. It was an updated ET, but I still enjoyed it. Went opening night in the theater.
  11. Our staring pitching sure did collapse in the postseason. Yikes. Without Gallardo we would've been swept in the first round.
  12. I forgot that he would probably only be used against RHP, and was looking at his overall OBP. I was coupling that with the thought that he probably had a career year this past year and would regress. An OBP of .363 is not bad at all and makes me feel a lot better about him leading off.
  13. Hart sure seems like a waste of slugging if he's hitting lead-off. He's also not fast at all anymore. When Braun is around, whoever's in that 2 spot will thrive just like they have ever since Braun arrived and started hitting 3rd. I think it should be Gamel. It puts him in a great place to succeed. 1 Morgan2 Gamel3 Braun4 Ramirez5 Weeks6 Hart7 Gonzales8 Lucroy9 P I don't love the idea of Morgan leading off, because I don't think he has or will have a good enough OBP... but I don't know who else would do well there. Weeks could go back, but he and Hart should probably bat lower so they can drive more runs in.
  14. That photo looks nothing like Cecil. Wonder where they got that from.
  15. Red Rocks is pretty cool and so is Pike's Peak. I remember it was kind of crazy driving up it. In a fun way.
  16. I sure would've liked Scutaro for this year. Seems the timing just wasn't right, but we could've gotten him if it was.
  17. It may have been a different story the past year or so, but Gamel used to hit LHP better earlier in his minor league career, I believe.
  18. I haven't attended this before... if I attend this year, will I be able to get a Molitor autograph? Or is everything very random regarding what autographs you're able to attain?
  19. I'm currently carless and taking a combination of city bus and corporate shuttle out to my job. While standing downtown this evening I became extremely annoyed with the fact that about half the cars driving by me on Van Buren seemed to be texting or looking at some small glowing object that was not in front of their car. People are going to get killed because of that. I'm sure they already have.
  20. Anyone have one they'd be willing to sell for a reasonable price? Please let me know, I've been trying to pick one up for awhile now... just never got around to it. I'll do eBay if I have to, but I'd prefer to find someone on Brewerfan.
  21. He's still probably going to get 6 years (or more) from somebody... and the Brewers aren't going to offer that.
  22. The past two days on the east side of MKE have been in the high 40's. In January. Gotta love that global warming!
  23. Got Arkham City and Dead Island as Christmas gifts... and I made a point to finally finish Arkham Asylum this week so I could start playing the next one. Looking forward to it, big time - I've heard great things.
  24. I'VE GOT A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH YOU PEOPLE...
  25. http://twitter.com/#!/dgoold/status/150014105707757569 I think two years is a pretty good deal for the Cardinals. So I'm sorry to see this is true.
