    The Astros could be open to trading 3B Alex Bregman this winter, according to former MLB GM and current MLB Network analyst Jim Duquette. Duquette mentioned on MLB Network Radio that the Astros “are not gonna pay [Bregman]” what he and his agent, Scott Boras, want as a free agent. “There’s no chance he’s staying there. No chance.” As a result, Duquette mentions that it makes sense for the Astros to see what the market is for the veteran third baseman. “I think they’re listening.     Went with the family to see the new Hunger Games flick over the thanksgiving weekend. As a fan of the original 3, I liked this one too! (I have never read the books) Hoping for a continuation of the prequel, and I'd bet money there will be 2 more in the coming years.

    The guy is 30 years old, will turn 31 next season, and only played in 104 games in 2022, and 80 games in 2023. He is becoming an injury concern, so overpaying is not a good idea at this point. I'd be willing to trade Taylor for him straight up, but if we are going to move Mitchell or Wiemer for him, they would have o kick in another player.

    Not a chance the Brewers sign a back-up catcher for 10 million. Nope, not going to happen, and it shouldn't...

    Mark Feinsand of MLB.com suggests that the Dodgers could try to acquire both RHP Corbin Burnes and SS Willy Adames in a trade with the Brewers. The Dodgers need for starting pitching is well known, with many rumors having them involved in the bidding wars for both Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. However, the Dodgers could also attempt to get creative with a trade. Feinsand quotes an MLB executive who suggests that the Dodgers could attempt to land both Burnes and Adames in a deal with the Brewers. Both players will be eligible for free agency after the season, and there’s some speculation that the Brewers are entering a rebuilding phase, so neither player is untouchable. In addition to needing starting pitching, the Dodgers are currently set to start Gavin Lux at shortstop next season, so the fit is there for both sides.     You think the Cubs aren't going to be improving now that they lured Counsell away from us? It isn't thoughts of doom, it's pretty damn factual... They WILL be players in free agency, you can bet on it.

    They got their "dream" manager apparently, now they will be giving him some toys. I know there are people here who refuse to believe the Cubs aren't going to be better in 2024, but they are surely going to attempt to be a lot better. It won't take a lot to compete for the division, as I doubt we can possibly be better without Woodruff and Burnes. As I said in another post, all they have to do is win 5 or 6 more games than they did in 2023, and all we have to do is lose a few more, which seems inevitable unless we find a way to bolster our hitting and pitching, while staying under our 17th ranked payroll. I want nothing more than to be wrong. but the writing is on the wall. Don't forget about the damn Cardinals either. They seem to be hunting down top notch starting pitching, which is what they really need to also compete for the division. Unless we make some major changes in how we have done business in the past, we could easily finish 3rd or 4th in the division (depending on what the Reds decide to do) this season, and I truly believe that is a realistic view on the situation.

    True, but it also doesn't mean that it isn't going to happen... I can completely see them signing Woodruff, and pushing pretty hard to get Burnes. (Not 100% sure we'd trade him to the Cubs though, unless the overpay is quite substantial)

    Woodruff is going to be a Cub, isn't he? I'm also expecting a Burnes to Cubs at some point as well, I can only hope that in the process, we take the Cubs to the cleaners...

    Ok, great. So if they trade Yelich away to dump his contract, you are fine with the money they save in the process, doesn't go back into the team, but instead just goes in the bank?

    I only want to trade Yelich if the Brewers can promise us that they will use the money saved on players that will help us. I don't want them to bank the savings to lower the payroll.

    What does that really say though. Salaries have gone through the roof, you simply can't compare the last two years of payroll to other years when the cost of players keeps going up and up and up. Of course they have had the highest payrolls the last two years because of that simple little fact.

    What bothers me the most is the fact that since we just got this guy, does that mean we have no shot at resigning Santana for another year? What sense does it make to pay Bauers almost 2 million on top of what it would cost to resign Santana? I already knew we wouldn't be making a big splash at 1B, so Santana seemed like what we would end up with, now this? Santana said all the right things about Milwaukee, and since his price tag would be relatively inexpensive, I was really hoping we'd have him back. I really hate this trade on so many levels.

    Kyle Lewis intrigues me. He was rookie of the year in 2020 but just can NOT stay healthy. Probably strictly a DH, but if the guy could stay healthy, he might be worth looking into.
