  1. If they do trade Burnes, and that seems inevitable at this point, they might as well trade Williams too. Having the best closer in baseball doesn't make a lot of sense if we don't have much of a starting rotation. The rest of our bullpen should be able to handle the closing duties. This sucks.
  2. It is almost 100% in the bag that the Cubs are going to sign him. Watch and see 🤢 I bet they have already had his agent on the phone...
  3. Avina didn't play for the Timber Rattlers last year...
  4. So you don't think a salary cap is a good idea then?
  5. Yup, and I'm happy to be done with him to be honest, however, I'd rather have him than Bauers.
  6. Cubs will pick him up, and he'll mash 40 HRs. 🤢
  7. but Taylor is sooooo much better than Bauers, it just makes no sense.
  8. I don't think Bauers is a back-up, I think he is even lower than that. If we go into the season with this chump starting at DH, 1B or OF, it's a travesty. If we go into the season with this chump as bench fodder, it is also a travesty. This guy should be nowhere near our opening day roster, but it sure looks like he will be there or DFA'd. If he is cut, we just wasted the two young guys for nothing. If he is on the roster, he is blocking someone else, and that makes no sense either. Someone said earlier that we should have just kept Hiura, and I agree with that completely. Pay Hiura 2 milion or Bauers? We already know what Bauers brings, which ain't much, but since Hiura was in the doghouse last season, we have no idea what he could have brought us. Meh.
  9. God, so we just have to have another guy like Rowdy on the roster, but we can't afford Rowdy, so we go out and get another Rowdy for cheaper? Talk about setting the bar low, REALLY low. They must really think Avina is pretty much worthless and is never going to amount to anything.......ever. Bauers is probably as shocked as anyone. Again, gross.
  10. Why would we want a non hitting outfielder when OF is probably the least of our needs? C'mon man. Gross. A needle moving trade if ever there has been one.
  11. Brewers signed INF Yonny Hernández to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Hernández spent the the 2023 season in the Dodgers’ organization, appearing in 14 games in the majors and hitting .252/.395/.342 with four homers and 17 steals over 93 games in Triple-A. The 25-year-old could be in the mix for a utility role in the spring. Transaction 1h ago Source: Robert Murray
  12. Yeah, but that is the hard part about being a fan. It's tough to remove yourself from caring about these guys. You get used to them, you appreciate them, and it stings when the good ones leave.
  13. He's gone isn't he? Man...
  14. So just take the 2023 roster at the end of the season and make it the 2024 roster to start the season? I certainly hope the front office has a little more imagination that that.
  15. This is what we get when a Cubs fan is allowed to write for a Brewers fan site. It's ridiculous.
  16. Hopefully we didn't overpay for a guy with one good year. I realize he was hurt a lot for a couple years, but that is a red flag as well. Maybe we just got ourselves a bargain, but maybe we didn't...
  17. This trade is going to haunt us, along with the Reese Olson to Detroit for Norris. Just gross... Rangers selected the contract of LHP Antoine Kelly from Triple-A Round Rock. The 23-year-old southpaw came to the Rangers in the 2022 deadline deal that sent Matt Bush to the Brewers. Kelly was a dominant force out of the bullpen at Double-A Frisco in 2023 — compiling a 1.95 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 69/22 K/BB ratio over 50 2/3 innings of work before finishing out his season with six appearances at Triple-A Round Rock. Expect him to open the season in a high-leverage role at Triple-A Round Rock before eventually making his big league debut with the Rangers.
  18. The Dodgers would love to dump Lux on us, I hope we are shooting for a lot better than Lux if we trade Adames to the Dodgers.
  19. https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/dodgers_reportedly_eyeing_two_star_shortstops_on_trade_market/s1_127_39531379
  20. I'd rather bring back Santana!
  21. I'm disappointed, but only because I liked Moore a lot in Appleton. I know nothing about Dunn other than what I have read in this thread. Mendez just seems like a guy who isn't going to put it together, so I'm cool with moving him. Moore is so short, I mean, noticeably short when you see him on the field. Yeah yeah yeah, Altuve, but not a chance in hell he ends up being Altuve. Like I said above, disappointed we lost Moore, but hopefully, Arnold knows what he is getting in Dunn.
  22. Since the Phillies just traded him, that tells me they are not buying into it...
  23. Agreed. 🙂 I'm not against hiring Murphy, but was hoping for a hire outside the organization to get some fresh new eyes, thoughts and ideas.
