  1. I was watching this, just cancelled it on the dvr after the last episode. I found it more irritating than entertaining. The principal could possibly be the most annoying character to ever appear in a sitcom imo. She alone made it unbearable for me. My wife watched the first episode with me, and immediately said NOPE! She is an elementary teacher, and found the entire premise so ludicrous that she didn't want to waste another 30 minutes on the 2nd episode. It took me until the last episode to be completely turned off, though I was on the fence from the beginning.
  2. Their monopoly is now over, which is why they have apparently been budging on their pricing. I'm actually looking forward to the day I call and cancel their service when TDS is active in my neighborhood. (early spring)
  3. I'm sure he expected to the "the man" on Community, but the audience ended up gravitating toward Joel McHale's and Donald Glover's characters, so most storylines eventually focused on them, with some going quirky with Danny Pudi as the lead. His role after awhile was basically slapstick one-liners and being a foil for the main characters. I'm sure the way his character was written had a lot to do with his on-set behavior. The other actors didn't want much to do with him. I'm in the middle of season 2, and Chevy is very much one of the main characters. His part is pretty hilarious to be honest. Such a good, creative show...
  4. According to Evan Drellich of The Athletic, there are no meetings scheduled this week between MLB and the MLBPA. But the two sides are meeting separately, and maybe that will generate some semblance of movement toward a new collective bargaining agreement. Or at least bring about a few fresh ideas that could lead to certain major hurdles being cleared. Rob Manfred, Dan Halem, and MLB owners are stationed at a hotel near Disney World, per Drellich, and Tony Clark and Bruce Meyer will gather with groups of players in Arizona and then Florida. Manfred reportedly plans to hold a media session on Thursday. This process continues to sputter along. SOURCE: Evan Drellich on Twitter Feb 8, 2022, 5:42 PM ET Yeah, what's the rush, plenty of time...
  5. I am hoping against all hope that Keston figures things out again, and he is a force! Imagine the boost he would provide to our line-up if he can come back to 2019 levels...
  6. I think it's funny actually. I have tried for years to get a better price from spectrum, and they basically say take it or leave it. Now that TDS has made it's way into my city, they are bending over backwards to try and keep people. Too little too late I'm afraid. TDS offered me a package where I have the exact same package I was getting from Spectrum for half the cost, literally, HALF! Price is good for 2 years, at that time, I will re-evaluate...
  7. What a total dirtbag! These guys have the world at their feet, fame, money, and they just can't handle it. I hope this idiot gets banned from the NFL, but we all know he'll get a 2 game suspension and that will be that. A lot more information is now out there on this, making him look even worse, so the blip I am posting below has been expanded on in several places...He should be out the entire season at the very least. Alvin Kamara was arrested in Las Vegas for "battery resulting in substantial bodily harm." The quote comes directly from the Las Vegas Police Department. Kamara was arrested hours after the conclusion of the Pro Bowl. The LVPD's statement states the incident occurred in a nightclub on February 5th. That was the day before Kamara participated in the Pro Bowl. The statement also notes the investigation into Kamara is still ongoing. New Orleans and the league should put out statements of their own soon, but they will likely let the legal situation play out before taking any action. 8. Thanks for the information!
  9. Ronald Blum of the Associated Press reports that MLB has stopped testing 40-man roster players for PEDs due to the expiration of the sport's drug agreement. This is part of the fallout of the owners locking out the players when the previous collective bargaining agreement expired at the start of December. It's anybody's guess if players will actually take the risk to use something during the work stoppage, but chief executive officer of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency Travis Tygart says it is feasible that some will. “You could easily do what the cyclists were doing even in a good testing program, which was microdosing of testosterone,” said Tygart. “You can do testosterone gels or oral pills that could be out of your system and you can do more in maybe weeks.” And if there's some unusual performances or breakouts when the 2022 MLB season eventually gets underway, there could be questions about the legitimacy of those numbers. It's just another topic in a very complicated situation which doesn't appear anywhere close to getting settled. SOURCE: Associated Press Feb 7, 2022, 4:09 PM ET
  10. Anyone watching 1883 or Mayor Of Kingstown? I had set my DVR to record both shows, but only the first 3 episodes recorded, then it stopped. When I look ON DEMAND, only those three episodes are available. I am wondering if the rest of those shows are only available on their (Paramount plus)streaming site? Both shows have at least 8 or so episodes, so that has to be the case.
  11. Yeah, I didn't even mention the student behavior issues, disengagement, and lack of any direction to head these issues off now or in the future by administration. The past couple of decades of the passive approach to discipline, or complete lack of discipline all together is now starting to creep up and bite everyone in the butt. Those first generations of "feel good about yourself" parents now have kids in the high schools. Those parents raised kids and were there friends, not their parents. Restorative discipline took all accountability and responsibility from the kids, put it on the teachers, and we are seeing the fruits of that farce as well. Talk about a failed social experiment. Like I said, if I were just starting out in this profession, I'd already be looking for a new career option, it's that bad... We are going to see very few people enter the teaching profession and finish their careers as teachers. The days of teaching 30 years are over. no one is going to last that long. We have completely lost all control, and it's very sad.
  12. You want to talk about worker shortage, the teaching profession is in dire need of bodies... So much so, that they will hire almost anyone with a degree. We all knew it was going to happen after ACT 10 was triggered, but I don't think anyone saw it coming to this degree. My school used to have 40-50 applicants for job openings, now we are lucky to get 5. There is no reason for anyone to go into a profession that is high in uncompensated hours, disrespected openly, pays like crap, reduced benefits (depending on what district you work in, benefits are all over the map) and is a tough damn job mentally, especially since the pandemic hit in 2020. Burnout is happening at a severely accelerated rate. It's real, not just stuff you read, it's happening. I don't see what can be done in the near future to correct the problem, but the first step needs to be higher pay. Money always talks. I'm retiring at the end of this school year, thankfully. If I was in my 20's or 30's and was teaching currently, there isn't a chance in hell I would be able to stick with this job until retirement. So many are teaching for 3-5 years, then bailing. It just isn't worth it.
  13. Had an Edward Norton film fest this past weekend. The Italian Job, Primal Fear, and The Score. All good movies, with decent twists. Still working my way through the collection. Watching the multi-movie pacs that don't fit alphabetically. lol
  14. This is a fantastic hire - frankly I'm shocked he isn't still the head coach of the Raiders. His players seem to absolutely love him. He will be a selling point for bringing in free agents. Ouch, he was GREAT with the Bucs too, can't believe they didn't bring him in for an interview...
  15. The Pro Bowl is a waste of time. I truly don't recall the last time I even tuned in to one. To be honest, unless my team is playing, I don't care much about the Super Bowl either.
  16. That was the first movie I attended in person since the Pandemic had started, and I thought it was great!
  17. A sounding board for Yelich?
  18. $12 to park, ummm, that is light... An average person doesn't get in and out of that stadium for less than $75. Most will exceed that by quite a bit just because they are there and want to have a good time.
  19. Weeks was supposed to be our best 2B ever, but that never played out...
  20. The Major League Baseball Players Association has rejected Major League Baseball's request for a federal mediator to assist in collective bargaining agreement negotiations. MLB made the request on Thursday in lieu of a counter proposal, and it's no surprise that the MLBA has opted to reject the idea. The MLBPA writes in a statement that "the clearest path to a fair and timely agreement is to get back to the table. Players stand ready to negotiate." The MLB owners are scheduled to meet next week, but there is currently no next meeting between MLB and the MLBPA on the docket. Spring training is currently scheduled to begin in 10 days, but that's not happening. SOURCE: MLBPA Communications on Twitter Feb 4, 2022, 1:49 PM ET
  21. Two reporters out of Miami said Schwarber told the Marlins he wanted a 3/$60M contract. IMO that's way out of the range Stearns can offer. You're right, it doesn't happen. What he wants and what he gets will be two different things, but I can't see us paying him half that demand...
  22. Oh HAPPY DAY!
  23. Cruz can pretty much only DH though, his defensive days are over. We roster a guy like him, a one dimensional type player, and what does that mean, he gets a couple games off a week while the other guys get to DH? I just don't see a guy like Cruz working out with our roster construction.
