According to MLB.com's Jon Morosi, the Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Blue Jays, and Cardinals are "viewed as the strongest candidates" to land Francisco Lindor from the Indians. USA Today's Bob Nightengale heard from "several rival teams" last week that the Indians fully intend to trade Lindor this offseason, but Morosi cautions in his column Wednesday that it could take a while for the situation to play out because Cleveland may want the top free agents on the market to find new homes first. Also, the Mets have yet to hire a president of baseball operations to work under new owner Steve Cohen and team president Sandy Alderson. Lindor, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner and four-team American League All-Star, is currently scheduled to reach free agency after the conclusion of the 2021 campaign.
