  1. I thought the same thing... Why not get it done right after the season?
  2. What's bugging me is the fact that starting Monday, I'll be wearing a mask again for 8 hours a day when I go back to teaching. I had 11 days off for Christmas break, and not wearing a mask has been one of the highlights of the break. (except for the rare times we actually go out in public anyway)
  3. I'm pretty curious if Erickson stays in Appleton now that they are A+.
  4. Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Ha-seong Kim's with the padres is for four years and $28 million with incentives that can make the contract worth $32 million. A report from Naver Media says that there is also a fifth year mutual option. Kim has until New Year's Day to sign the deal, so this should get done shortly. The 25-year-old was a star in the KBO in 2020 with 30 homers and 23 stolen bases before being posted by the Kiwoom Heroes earlier in December. Kim is expected to start at second base for the Padres to begin the 2021 season, and offers a speed/power combination that will make him intriguing in all formats this summer. RELATED: San Diego Padres SOURCE: Jon Heyman on Twitter Dec 31, 2020, 5:28 PM ET ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Padres signed INF Ha-seong Kim to a four-year, $28 million contract with a mutual option for 2025. There are incentives that can push the contract to $32 million, and the option is for $7 million in 2025. Kim's contract had to be signed before Saturday because of the international posting rules. The infielder was one of the best players in the KBO, and hit 30 homers with 23 steals while posting a .307 average for the Kiwoom Heroes in the 2020 campaign. He should be an everyday player for the Padres, and if he gets a chance to hit at the top of the order, there's a lot of quality bats behind him to drive him in. The question will be where he plays defensively, but it's likely that he'll get a chance to be the starting second baseman with Fernando Tatis Jr. locked in as the starter at short. 5. Cubs president Jed Hoyer said Wednesday that the rumors about Willson Contreras being shopped are "fictional." This could be a game of semantics, as the Cubs have undoubtedly received calls about Contreras -- especially in the wake of the Yu Darvish/Victor Caratini trade -- and would almost certainly move the star catcher this winter given a sizable enough return. Hoyer also told reporters during Wednesday's press conference that he thinks "we're going to have a really competitive team next year," so take it all with a grain of salt. 6. Jacob Nottingham announced on his Instagram account that he underwent surgery on his left thumb. The operation was to repair the radial collateral ligament. Nottingham dealt with a thumb injury down the stretch of the regular season and the playoffs. He had been optimistic that surgery could be avoided, but obviously he wound up going under the knife. The Brewers expect him to be ready for the start of spring training or shortly after. SOURCE: Adam McCalvy on Twitter Dec 30, 2020, 4:48 PM ET
  7. Brewers as of today in 2021 C Narvaez = Wash...Hoping he can be better than last year with the bat, which is why I graded him a wash. If he struggles, he is a big Negative. 1B Vogelbach = Negative (I can't believe this is what we roll with...) 2B Hiura = ? (wonder what we get from this guy...he will never have value defensively, so he better bring his offense up a couple notches from last year) SS Arcia= Negative (I don't believe that 2020 is the real Arcia, nor should anyone else, we've seen this cat before and it always fades) 3B Urias (?) = Negative RF Garcia = Negative (big let down last year with no signs of the guy we thought we were getting, which was probably average at best) CF Cain = Wash, great defense, who knows what we will see offensively. LF Yelich = Positive (I refuse to believe we see 2020 Yelich, might not see 2018-19 Yelich, but it will surely be better than 2020) That offense, as it sits, has no chance of winning the divsion... It just doesn't. In fact, it's depressing to see it in woirds. Seriously, look at that offense, disturbing. Pitching alone doesn't win championships, we have to be able to score runs consistantly, and that offense will not get it done. I truly hope we get ourselves a real bonified 1B and 3B. If not, it will be a long season in 2021.
  8. I don't want to give any of our top prospects to the Cubs. Having them rub it in with our guys for a decade if they pan out just sickens me.
  9. or bring back Brad Hand.... Agreed, there's plenty of closers available to sign. I guess I just don't see them giving up more prospects for Hader. Good takes, I agree with all of them... Signing the above guys cost them no prospects, Nothing... I think Brewers fans that think the Dodgers and Padres will have a bidding war for Hader are mistaken...
  10. Man, it would suck to see Feliciano and Turang as Cubs in the future... That would really suck.
  11. Google hides anything that doesn't fit their agenda, it isn't just covid related topics.
  12. Ethan Small in this deal, PASS, hard pass...
  13. all true, I meant after moose and grandal... no matter how you paint it, last year was dumpster diving. Other than Garcia, I agree. But Garcia was a big deal. No need to "paint" that. Also, it was one year. We'll see what happens. But this narrative that the roster building philosophy they used last year is now going to be "the norm" is simply not supported with enough evidence. Not yet anyway. I don't view signing Garcia at what 10 - 12 million per season as a big deal. Most teams, that is just a drop in the bucket, a guy to fill a need, the sad thing is, that was our big go for it move. That saddens me.
  14. all true, I meant after moose and grandal... no matter how you paint it, last year was dumpster diving.
  15. This team literally handed Christian Yelich the richest deal in the team's history by far roughly nine months ago. Fair or not, I think the Yelich/Cain day back in January 2018 seriously ruined people’s expectations forever to the point where they are expecting a blockbuster deal every year. And if we don’t make one then it’s seen as shopping in the bargain basement. Maybe so, but we have shopped in the bargain basement since, and it seems that is where we will be shopping this year too... Until proven wrong, that is just how it is.
  16. Better yet ... get the Dodgers and Padres in a bidding war for Hader. Don't know if the Padres would be willing to part with Gore or Abrams, but one of those would be my targets. If Gore didn't go in a package for Snell, he's not coming in a package for Hader..............imo
  17. I just don't see us signing a SS when we still have black holes at 1B and 3B. I am not buying that we are going into the season with Vogelbomb as our every day 1B. As much as I'd love to replace Arcia I just don't view that position as out greatest need, especially if it is at all possible that Urias emeges as the guy we thought we had when we traded for him. (I'm in the camp that he is never going to be that guy)
  18. and then the t-rats made a bobblehead of him...lol good times.
  19. Should this be in blue?
  20. Good move for the Nationals? If we gave up that type of player(s) for Bell, I'd be outraged! I guess it is all in how you look at it, but man, if that is what it would have cost us, I'm pretty happy we were not involved.
  21. So two of Small, Ashby and Kelly for Bell? No freaking way! Not a chance in hell...
  22. KTs by me do not serve the bagel sandwiches... Man, I wish they would.
  23. Love the KT breakfast egg rolls (bacan and egg), and the breakfast tornados are good too. All the rest of their hot food is just meh. It does in a pinch. Their breakfast sandwiches are ok, but they stopped serving my favorite one quite a while ago, and I'm not sure why. (Bacan, egg, and cheese muffin) Come to think of it, they also stopped serving the bacan, egg, and cheese tornados too. They have something against bacon, that ain't right.
  24. According to ESPN's Kiley McDaniel, there is a "real shot" Cuban prospect Oscar Colas will wait until 2022 to sign with a major league team. Colas was just declared a free agent by Major League Baseball this week following a fallout with his team in Japan, and most MLB clubs have already maxed out on their international spending money for the 2020-2021 international signing period. For him to get the best possible deal, it would probably be smart to push the negotiations off for another 12-13 months. Colas is only 22 years old, so he has time on his side. 25. Not watching sports wasn't too bad when sports wasn't happening, but I'd have a harder time not watching sports if I knew it was going on. Absolutely this^ I missed watching sports, but knowing there was nothing to watch made it easier...
