  1. @BrewersRice Curious why you gave me the thumbs down... Are you against Capra getting a chance? Do you think Monesterio is going to be better?
  2. I'm good with Capra making this team out of spring training... Don't care to see Monesterio any longer. We know what we get with him, Capra just might be our answer!
  3. We just might be one of those teams now...Glad we kept Civale...Odds of him being moved now are less than 0%.
  4. Latest News Mar 11, 2025 11:32 AM EDT Smith struck out five batters and walked none while allowing one hit over three innings in his Cactus League start against the Dodgers on Saturday. Analysis The first pick of the 2024 Rule 5 draft, Smith was left unprotected by Milwaukee but has impressed thus far in White Sox camp. The 24-year-old righty averaged 96.8 mph on his four-seam fastball (touching 98.4 mph) and threw the pitch 55 percent of the time Saturday. He mixed in his three secondary offerings, but it was Smith's fastball that shut down a stacked Dodgers lineup, including two Ks against Shohei Ohtani plus one apiece against Freddie Freeman and Will Smith. With Drew Thorpe (elbow) likely to open the year on the shelf, Smith could win the final spot in Chicago's rotation. He has certainly pitched well enough this spring (nine Ks, 0.75 WHIP in 6.2 innings) that the White Sox won't be returning Smith to the Brewers.
  5. Looks like guys are still being shuttled from one team to the next kind of randomly still. How soon before we actually know who will be playing where to start the season?
  6. Dude, I'm a Wilken fan, but that statement is just plain WOW!
  7. I comish 4 leagues, and the only way anyone can give you accurate advice is to know your scoring system. Roto, points, H2H, etc. All scoring systems are different and provide different strategies for sure... If you are playing in an established league with established members, it will be tough being the new guy if you have zero experience. There are so many ins and outs to fantasy baseball. Go into the year as strictly a learning year and you should be able to enjoy it. Pay attention to what others do and why they do it. Fantasy baseball is a blast, but you really have to be willing to put some time in to have success. You MUST check into your team daily to see what is going on with waivers, drops, trades, etc. If you plan to check in every few days, you are already sunk. I too did fantasy football for years and years, but when my interest in the NFL took a dive a few years ago, so did my interest in fantasy football. Dropped out and haven't missed it at all. There is no way I could ever stop fantasy baseball though, just absolutely freaking love it! I probably spend an hour a day on my teams, or more, without fail.
  8. Wait, so the college crowd is into Nelly, who probably peaked 20 years ago before most were even born? Dude is 50+ years old playing hip-hop to college crowds? As far as Shaq as a DJ goes, I actually laughed at loud at the thought. Talk about a guy getting by on his name. I just don't see either being big draws, especially to college crowds. People in their 40's, maybe... The people who were listening to Nelly when he had his 15 minutes are now probably in their late 30's to late 40's. Those are the people I'd expect to have interst seeing him for nostalgia purposes. I have no clue who would be interested in watching a retired NBA superstar dropping beats and scratching nonsense. Talk about a novelty... I admit, I am completely out of touch with this type of music scene, so it is what it is I guess.
  9. This topic has been covered in at least two other threads. I feel it was a mistake to let him go, but time will tell. It just made no sense at the time.
  10. Never said he'd be cheap.
  11. 2 years of Peralta for a blocked Mayo is plenty to give up imo. How much longer can they keep Mayo at AAA? Is an injury the only thing that is going to give him a chance to move up? If we are throwing in Boeve or Wilken, then they have to at least give us a lottery ticket type pitcher in return. If they really want a starter, they have to give something up. I'd hate to see Freddy go, but it seems we may have already seen his peak.
  12. I wonder about Peralta to be honest...
  13. Highly doubtful in Smith's case. I'd take that bet too. Look, I realize you want to be right in this case, but you aren't. Smith is a really good pitcher that we made a mistake about. It's ok to admit that everything we do doesn't work out. When he was left unprotected, there were a lot of people on this very board that were not happy, and there is a reason for that.
  14. Whoever they start there for opening day, I hope they just run out the hot hand of the moment, whoever that may be at the time...
  15. I'm not basing my opinion on one 5 strikeout spring training game. His body of work points to success. I could see that in Appleton, and he did nothing thereafter to make me think otherwise. Leaving him unprotected because they are trying to win? So you are saying, had they kept him, it would be a sign of them not trying to win? I disagree with your thought process, which isn't complicated at all.
  16. meh, you know what I mean. It was a mistake leaving him unprotected, simple as that.
  17. I'm angry, and I'm not afraid to say it!!
  18. I'll take that bet. Kid is a stud, looked like a stud since we drafted him. There was no reason, ZERO in fact, to leave him unprotected.
  19. Rubbing some more salt into the Shane Smith wound: Rule 5 pick Shane Smith pitched three scoreless innings and struck out five versus the Dodgers on Saturday. He should be a lock for the White Sox roster, and he might find himself in the rotation at this rate. **a move we made that I will NEVER understand. I'd go as far as calling it an asinine move...
  20. Went and saw The Monkey today. Not a must see, but I found it to be pretty good. Kept me interested anyway. Not DVD worthy, but glad I went and saw what all the buzz was about.
  21. Joe Pickett on Paramount+ is pretty awesome! Easy to binge as most shows end with a cliffhanger, and you feel the need to see what happens next!
  22. I don't know why...If he is one of our best, and it appears to be the obvious case, then he should start out with the Brewers from day one!
  23. This one still stings... Shane Smith didn’t give up a hit over two scoreless innings in his outing against the Mariners on Saturday. Smith struggled Monday while allowing four runs in the first inning against the Rangers, but he was much more effective against Seattle. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out three. Smith is expected to a multi-inning option for the White Sox after being picked with the first selection of the Rule 5 draft in December.
