  1. [expletive deleted] He will be handed the job during and after spring training. We MUST have a gritty veteran to have success.
  2. Horrible, horrible idea... It is these decisions that leads me to believe that Melvin needs to go. This is just an absolute asinine decision that reeks of trying to sign a "name" to play a position that we have equal quality on our own roster. Watching this guy whiff all season long is going to be a downer for sure.
  3. I do not see Reynolds as an upgrade at all. Slightly defensively, but his constant assault on the strikeout record will do nothing but kill a ton of rallies. If he starts a full season, he will more than likely break his own record. I want no part of him in Milwaukee, and will be severely disappointed if we sign him. What we have now would equal or surpass anything Reynolds has to offer. Why waste a dime on this guy, WHY? The thought of watching this guy strikeout 2 times per game makes me sick.
  4. My son will be going off to college in the fall, and I have started looking for a laptop for him. Any advice out there? Just want to make sure he is set up and gets what he would need, so any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance!!
  5. There is a new subdivision in Appleton which houses a lot of Doctors and ultra-rich types. I would bet that is where he is. Absolute mansions... I live about a mile from it.
  6. Sounds ridiculous... It took a while to get used to Time Warner Cable Field, and now this? http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140114&content_id=66622278&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t572&sid=t572
  7. Appleton is getting pounded with snow as I type this... Going to be a fun ride home tonight... BOOOOOOOO! I am BOOOOOOing Wisconsin winter weather!
  8. It is obviously a kid friendly attempt at a mascot, I have no opinion one way or the other as it means nothing to me... If you want to complain about mascots, how about the new one that the T-Rats introduced last year? "Whiffer" is pretty much a copy of the Philly Phanatic... Not very original in any way, and why did they feel the need for a 2nd mascot when Fang is so popular?
  9. For those who took me up on my offer, tickets have been ordered, we are all set! (I also sent PMs to verify) Thanks!
  10. Actually, there are 11 dates, not 10...
  11. I'm pretty sure all you have to do is have the tickets in hand, and they will give you one bobble per ticket. Doesn't matter who has the tickets, as long as you have them. That is how it works normally for season ticket holders collecting their SGA stuff... Can't imagine they would do it differently for this promotion.
  12. This would be more than cool! The Stockton Ports gave one out a few years ago, it was so cool, I had to pick one up. (Given out after the Ports were no longer a Brewers team)
  13. If the Cardinals fixed him, he is now going to be Cy Young material... *sigh* Cardinals coaches corrected a flaw in John Axford's delivery at the end of the 2013 season. The coaches filled Axford in on the secret that he had been tipping his pitches for years. Once the issue was brought to his attention and he tweaked his delivery, he posted a 1.74 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 11/3 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings at the end of the season, and followed that up with a strong performance in the playoffs. If the issue has indeed been corrected, look for the 30-year-old to have a strong run as the Indians' closer. Source: National Post
  14. Sounds like you are taking a shot at me, but whatever. Yes, you can buy the package yourself, and you have 30 days to pick up each bobble from the date of the game. I am not trying to mislead anyone here... They will NOT ship them to you, and they will not hold all 11 until the end of the season. What I laid out above is pretty black and white. I don't see anyone here offering to pick up all the Brewers bobbles each year at the cost of the cheapest game ticket, no one is offering to get all the Chinooks bobbles either... I simply outlined a plan that was beneficial to me and anyone without the means or desire to come to Appleton 11 times this summer. Paying less than $17 each bobble and not have to come up here on a weeknight 8 times seems like a damn good deal to me. The "community" can work in many different ways, but give and take is usually the way things work in most cases. Maybe you can get the community together and come up with a plan to get them, if so, by all means, have at it. I was simply offering to do it at a minimal cost that included a perk for me for the trouble.
  15. Agreed, no need to make moves just to make moves... What have we lost out on that we could realistically afford?
  16. Just found this little nugget: Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writes that Tyler Thornburg "will get a chance in the spring to show he can handle the fifth spot" in the Brewers' rotation. GM Doug Melvin has also indicated that he hopes Thornburg runs away with the No. 5 job. "We had the development of (Wily) Peralta, which was a huge step for us," Melvin said. "I'm hoping that the development of Thornburg will take place as well. He's deserving of having that opportunity. We have to do that with our younger players and be patient. Sometimes, it's tough to be patient." Thornburg, 25, posted a 1.47 ERA over his seven starts with the Brew Crew last season. He's flyball-prone and many feel he's better suited for relief, but there's some deep league sleeper potential here. Will Smith, Johnny Hellweg, Jimmy Nelson and Hiram Burgos will compete with Thornburg for the No. 5 spot. Source: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Jan 12 - 9:41 AM
  17. Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports that the Yankees will not re-sign Mark Reynolds. There had been interest in a reunion, but Feinsand says the Yanks are only willing to offer Reynolds a minor league contract. The 30-year-old is coming off a season where he batted just .220/.306/.393, but he'll be able to get a major league deal from someone. The Twins, Brewers, Angels and Rays, among others, showed interest in Reynolds earlier this offseason. Source: Mark Feinsand on Twitter
  18. Mark Reynolds would be a complete and total waste of any dollar we put into him. I do not want a guy like this anywhere near this roster when we have guys at our disposal that are still a mystery. Reynolds is a band-aid type of player that isn't even good enough to cover a would, much less heal it. I'd pass HARD on Reynolds.
  19. In all seriousness, you will not find a better deal than this unless you plan to go to all 11 games yourself, even then, you have figure in gas and parking costs. The deal I am offering is less than $17 per bobble. Not to mention, 8 of the 11 games are Tuesday or Thursday nights. If you live in the Milwaukee area, those are late nights on week days during the work week... Anyway, if anyone else is interested, let me know ASAP.
  20. lol Priorities changed the closer I got to completing the set... I found it impossible to be satisfied being only one away from having them all... PS. I also have no issue with Kent selling his own bobbles. We'd all probably do the same thing if we had a couple of cases, and knew you could get $300+ a pop...
  21. Other ICEMAN threads to sift through if you have the inclination. The mystery about who is selling them can be found here and there in the threads... Funny to read some of the old stuff, and also funny is some of the inaccurate information in the threads. viewtopic.php?f=68&t=28838&hilit=ICEMAN viewtopic.php?f=68&t=27642&hilit=ICEMAN viewtopic.php?f=68&t=25872&hilit=ICEMAN
  22. You paid $448, or $48? The second is a GREAT, UNBELIEVABLE deal! Congrats! I paid $325 for the ICEMAN, by far the most I ever paid for a bobble, but it was the last one I needed to complete my collection, so I went for it. I used paypal funds that I earned selling bobbles, so in the end, it cost me about $125. (The cost I paid for the bobbles I sold) And to put the rumor to rest, ICEMAN came from the ICEMAN household itself... He and his wife are 100% for sure selling them. There is no more mystery involved. He has sold 4 of them on ebay. They went for $380, $350, $330, and $325... The only mystery left is how many of them did they make, and how many does he have left to sell?
  23. Yup, but that was a mini... My bad, I didn't even consider it for that reason.
  24. He only has one Brewer SGA (2 with the alternate pinstripes version), in 2003.
