  1. I would typically want 1-2 months worth of production but when you don't walk anyone, don't allow hits, induce a bunch of GB's and K a guy per inning there is nothing left to do but be promoted.
  2. Downhill Thunder back at it again. 75% of his outs via the GB through 4.
  3. As a noob to roster uploads can someone please take a moment and lay it out step-by-step? I want to download the OSOD full minor league roster for the Show 2012. Much, much appreciated in advance.
  4. 'Tees drop series opener to Flying Tigers http://www.milb.com/images/2012/04/15/EIkjmzvJ.jpg Manatees starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann allowed two earned runs in six innings of work as he suffered his first professional loss. Brevard County fell 3-2 to the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Sunday night at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) 04/15/2012 9:10 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees dropped their series opener with the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Sunday evening by a score of 3-2 at Space Coast Stadium. Manatees' starting pitcher and 2011 first round draft pick Taylor Jungmann suffered the first loss of his pro career. Lakeland (5-5) got to Jungmann in the top of the second as they collected three straight hits to start the inning, including a RBI single by James McCann. The other Flying Tigers' run scored as Wade Gaynor grounded into a double play. The Manatees (6-4) cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth as T.J. Mittelstaedt led off the inning with a triple and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Miguel Velazquez. Lakeland would get a run back in the top of fifth on a Hernan Perez RBI single to take a 3-1 lead. Brevard County cut it back to a one-run game in the bottom of the sixth as Nick Shaw doubled with one out and then came home on Mittelstaedt's second triple of the game. Mittelstaedt's second three-bagger would chase Lakeland starter Shawn Teufel and Matt Crouse came on and was able to strand the tying run at third. For Jungmann in his third pro start, he went six innings and allowed three runs, two of which were earned. He gave up six hits and two walks, while striking out three. Greg Holle and Thomas Keeling combined to throw three perfect innings, in relief of Jungmann. Brevard County will look to get back on track on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. as they continue their three-game series with Lakeland. Jimmy Nelson (1-0, 1.80) will toe the rubber for the 'Tees. In his last start - which was against the Flying Tigers - he tied a career high with eight strikeouts. Lakeland will send Alex Burgos (1-1, 3.00) to the hill.
  5. Lakeland (Flying Tigers) 3 Brevard County 2 Box Score A narrow defeat for the Manatees here. Taylor Jungmann made his 3rd pro start and was solid. 6 IP 6 H 3 R 2 ER 2 BB 3 K 9:4 GO:FO. His ERA sits at 3.06 through 3 starts. The peripherals are not great but his FIP sits at 3.29. Greg Holle and Wild Thomas Keeling finished the final 3 innings in superb fashion. Is Keeling heading for a Santo Manzanillo-like explosion? Check out this progression: 2010: 23 BB in 7 2/3 IP (~27 BB/9) 2011: 34 BB in 52 IP (5.66 BB/9) 2012: 0 BB in 4 IP That said, I will never drop the "Wild" from Thomas' name because it just sounds too cool. The hits were powerful, yet sparse for the 'Tees. 4 in total, but all were XBH's highlighted by T.J. Mittelstaedt's 2 triples. That's 6 XBH's in 33 AB's for T.J. Nick Shaw and Miguel Velazquez each had a double. Game Log Jungmann's best. Lakeland Top of the 4th Avisail Garcia flies out to center fielder Reggie Keen. James Robbins strikes out swinging, catcher Adam Weisenburger to first baseman Cody Hawn. James McCann called out on strikes. 3 FO for WTK. Lakeland Top of the 9th Pitcher Change: Thomas Keeling replaces Greg Holle. Avisail Garcia flies out to right fielder Juan Sanchez. James Robbins flies out to left fielder T. Mittelstaedt. James McCann flies out to left fielder T. Mittelstaedt. Edit: Just realized that Jungmann's FIP is only for his first 2 starts. Fangraphs seems a little slow to update.
  6. Sounds Win, 3-2, In 13 Innings On Sunday 04/15/2012 2:53 PM ET Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Reliever Jim Henderson pitched two scoreless innings and provided the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 13th inning for a 3-2 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Sunday afternoon at Greer Stadium. Erick Almonte (2-for-4) crushed a one-out double off Sandy Rosario (0-1), moved to third on an infield groundout from Hainley Statia, and scored when Henderson lofted the game-winning base hit to left field. Henderson was previously was 3-for-19 (.158) in his career from behind the plate. It was the league-high third extra-inning game for both teams and the second last at bat victory for the Sounds. The extra-inning contest was also the longest game of the year (previous longest was a 12-inning defeat on April 6 at New Orleans). Nashville shortstop Edwin Maysonet went 4-for-6 with a double and an RBI. It was the second four-hit game of the season for the Sounds (Sean Halton on April 5 at New Orleans) and Mayonset's 10th of his career, matching his career high. Catcher Martin Maldonado added two hits to extend his hitting streak to four games. In a rematch from Opening Night in New Orleans earlier this season, both starting pitchers tossed quality starts and earned no-decisions. Wily Peralta surrendered one run on just three hits while fanning three in six innings of work. Both quality starts of the season for Peralta have come against New Orleans, which also was the 22-year-old's sixth quality start in eight career Triple-A outings. Peralta has received only one run in each of his three outings this season. New Orleans Alex Sanabia gave up two runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings for his third consecutive quality start to open the season. The Sounds scored the first run in the fourth as Green opened the frame with a double off the left field wall. The third baseman moved to third on a groundout and came home on a weak infield single by first baseman Erick Almonte. New Orleans tied the contest at 1-1 in the visiting half of the sixth inning as Kevin Mattison tripled to right field to lead off the inning. During the ensuing Donovan Solano sacrifice fly, the mustached outfielder narrowly scored after getting under the Martin Maldonado tag from a strong throw from right fielder Caleb Gindl. Maysonet gave Nashville back the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning. In his Sounds debut, pinch hitter Brooks Conrad blooped a one-out single over the third baseman's head to remove Alex Sanabia from the game. Conrad moved to second on a walk by Logan Schafer and scored the go-ahead run on a line drive single to center from Maysonet. With two outs in the top of the ninth, New Orleans knotted the contest at 2-2 with a game-tying solo homer by catcher Luke Montz. Mike McClendon, who struck out the first two batters of the inning, gave up Montz's second homer of the season on a 0-1 offering. Nashville used a season-high six pitchers on the afternoon. Dan Meadows struck out one in a scoreless seventh while Vinnie Chulk tossed his second straight scoreless outing with a scoreless eighth inning. McClendon, who recorded his second blown save of the season, gave up his first run of the season in the ninth. Victor Garate followed by throwing two shutout innings while striking out three. Henderson (1-1) picked up the win by ending game with two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. The Sounds look for their first series win of the season with tomorrow's finale at 7:05 pm CT at Greer Stadium. Nashville right-hander Mike Fiers (0-0, 3.60) will toe the rubber against New Orleans southpaw Brad Hand (1-0, 0.00). Box Score 17 Sounds played in this one. Lots to digest. After BC and the T-Rats walked off yesterday, Nashville got into the act today in a 13 inning affair. Jim Henderson, the pitcher, smacked the game-ending line drive to plate Erick Almonte in the bottom of the 13th. Henderson also picked up the win, so he had a memorable Sunday afternoon. Here is the final call. Top Prospect Wily Peralta started and was very good. Final line: 6 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 3 K 1 HBP 1 Pickoff 9:3 K:BB. He did not allow a run until the 6th. We have been enjoying some pretty spectacular starting pitching across the system thus far. Five Sounds relievers followed Wily. The good: Victor Garate and Jim Henderson combining to go the last 4 innings allowing 1 H 0 R 0 ER 0 BB 6 K. The bad: Mike McClendon blowing the save in the top of the 9th. Starting SS Edwin Maysonet paced the offense with a 4-6 night and a 2B. Corey Patterson and Erick Almonte were on 3 times each. Maysonet and Almonte RBI hits can be heard via the links on their names. Taylor Green and Martin Maldonado each had 2 hits. Brooks Conrad appeared as a pinch hitter and singled. Game Log Henderson's Heroics. Possibly a botched hit-and-run for Maldonado and Almonte here? Nashville Bottom of the 13th Pitcher Change: Sandy Rosario replaces Beau Jones, batting 7th, replacing Cole Armstrong. Martin Maldonado singles on a line drive to left fielder Bryan Petersen. With Erick Almonte batting, Martin Maldonado caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Clint Sammons to shortstop Donovan Solano to first baseman Luke Montz. Erick Almonte doubles (1) on a line drive to center fielder Kevin Mattison. Sandy Rosario intentionally walks Corey Patterson. Hainley Statia grounds into a force out, third baseman Matt Dominguez to second baseman Chase Lambin. Erick Almonte to 3rd. Corey Patterson out at 2nd. Hainley Statia to 1st. With Jim Henderson batting, Hainley Statia advances to 2nd on defensive indifference. Jim Henderson singles on a line drive to left fielder Bryan Petersen. Erick Almonte scores. Hainley Statia to 3rd. With 13 innings worth of game log, there is plenty to keep you busy. Enjoy! Gameday
  7. I stumbled across this when researching something else. From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Lee Tunnel on Austin Ross via Haudricourt (5/14/2011): "Ross throws his fastball in the 88-92 mph range and with great command. He has a solid slider and has shown improvement with his changeup." Also stumbled on this bit about Tyler Thornburg's change up from Rattlers pitching coach Chris Hook (6/4/2011): ""His changeup can be an above-average major-league pitch for him. He's got a 12 mph differential from his fastball to his changeup. He can throw it for a strike. And from the 2011 MWL All-Star game comes this report on Tyler Thornburg from Kevin Goldstein (6/21/2011): "...89-94 w/ quality breaking ball....
  8. I think it is likely 2-3 ticks fast. TC07 may have more insight.
  9. Brevard blanks Blue Jays to avoid sweep 04/14/2012 10:08 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/images/2012/04/14/L26nGx7N.jpg Manatees starting pitcher Austin Ross threw five shutout innings as Brevard County blanked the Dunedin Blue Jays 1-0 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees avoided a sweep at the hands of the Dunedin Blue Jays thanks to a 1-0 win on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. Mike Walker's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth won it for the 'Tees. Nick Shaw began the ninth inning by legging out a double to shallow right field. T.J. Mittelstaedt was then looking to sacrifice Shaw over with a bunt and he laid down a beauty that not only moved over Shaw, but Mittelstaedt was able beat the throw to put runners at the corners with no outs. Cody Hawn would then fly out to right field but it was too shallow for Shaw to tag up. Dunedin then intentionally walked Miguel Velazquez to set up the double play; they also brought in a fifth infielder to try and cut the run off at home. Walker stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and one out and drove a ball to deep center that easily scored Shaw and gave the Manatees the victory. Brevard County's (6-3) pitching staff once again kept the 'Tees in the game as Dunedin (7-2) could only muster four hits on the evening. Starting pitcher Austin Ross threw five innings and allowed just two hits and a walk, while striking out four. Brian Garman relieved Ross in the sixth and ran into some trouble from the start as he hit the first two batters he faced, but was able to get out of the jam unscathed. Casey Medlen pitched a scoreless ninth as Brevard County won its second 1-0 game already this season. The win puts the 'Tees within a game of the first-place Blue Jays for the North division lead. Brevard County will remain at home for a three-game set with the Lakeland Flying Tigers beginning at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday. The Manatees swept the Flying Tigers in a three-game series in Lakeland earlier in the week. Taylor Jungmann (2-0, 3.09) will get the start for the Manatees and the Flying Tigers will counter with Shawn Teufel (0-1, 6.75).
  10. I think we should consider Harvey's 95 as a "touch". He touched 95 (on a stadium gun) but I bet Kyle would have indicated if he was sitting 95 every FB. It would be fair to assume he sits low-90's. A reliever can work with low-90's.
  11. Nashville 9 New Orleans (Marlins) 5 Sounds Defeat Zephyrs For First Home Win 04/14/2012 9:55 PM ET Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Caleb Gindl's three-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning gave Nashville the lead for good en route to a 9-5 victory over the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium. The Sounds (3-7) snapped a two-game skid and picked up their first home victory of the year despite being out-hit, 13-7, in the contest. The loss snapped a PCL-best five-game winning streak for the Z's. Martin Maldonado, who homered, and Edwin Maysonet each had two hits to join Gindl in powering the Sounds' offense in the win. New Orleans got off to a quick start against Sounds starter Seth McClung, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first inning during a 39-pitch frame for the right-hander. Kevin Mattison and Donovan Solano opened the contest with back-to-back doubles to put the visitors on the board. After the next two batters were retired, Bryan Petersen hit a dribbler up the third base line for a two-out RBI infield single that upped the Z's lead to 2-0. Nashville rallied to take a 4-2 lead in the home half of the second inning in an error-filled frame for the Zephyrs. After Taylor Green was hit by a J.D. Martin pitch to open the inning, Maldonado doubled to left, where Petersen misplayed the ball and allowed Green to score. On the relay throw home, shortstop Gil Velazquez's toss was off-line and eluded catcher Clint Sammons to allow Maldonado to reach third. Following a Hainley Statia strikeout, Corey Patterson hit a grounder to second against a drawn-in infield and Solano, the second baseman, threw home to catch Maldonado in a rundown. The Sounds' catcher was ultimately awarded home plate on an obstruction call after colliding with Sammons in the basepaths during the rundown, tying the score at 2-2. Maysonet (2-for-3) gave the Sounds their first lead of the series when he followed with an RBI triple down the right field line that dropped just out of the reach of a diving Scott Cousins. McClung helped his own cause and drove in the fourth Nashville run of the frame with a line-drive sacrifice fly to center that brought home Maysonet for a 4-2 lead. New Orleans tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fourth on Sammons' bases-loaded, two-run single to right off McClung, who took a no-decision for the Sounds after allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings of work. The Sounds reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth when they loaded the bases against Martin and Gindl unloaded them with a two-out, bases-clearing double to right that put the home team in front by a 7-4 margin. Martin (0-2) took the loss for the Z's after giving up seven runs (five earned) on six hits with four strikeouts in his four innings of action. Beau Jones took over on the New Orleans hill in the fifth and the Sounds immediately added to their advantage against him. After Green walked to open the inning, Maldonado (2-for-4) drove a 1-0 Jones offering over the wall in left for his second home run of the year, making it a 9-4 game. New Orleans got a run back in the eighth against Donovan Hand when Petersen doubled and later scored on a Velazquez groundout. Amaury Rivas (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the Sounds after working two scoreless frames behind McClung. Mike McClendon closed out the victory with a scoreless ninth for Nashville. The teams continue the series with a 2:05 p.m. matinee on Sunday afternoon. Right-hander Wily Peralta (0-1, 2.45), the Brewers' top prospect, makes his first home start of the season for the Sounds. New Orleans will send right-hander Alex Sanabia (1-0, 0.64) to the hill in a rematch of the Opening Night pitching matchup on April 7th in New Orleans. Box Score This game was ugly for New Orleans. They committed 5 errors, hit two batters and gave up 6 XBH's to the Sounds. So despite only 7 Nashville hits and 1 walk, the Zephyrs gave up 9 (7 ER) runs. On offense, they rapped out 13 hits, walked twice, but only scored 5 runs. Martin Maldonado hit his second homer in 3 games and also doubled. Just look at his long minor league career. Edwin Maysonet tripled and doubled. Logan Schafer was on twice with a double and a HBP. Caleb Gindl's damage to hit ratio was plus with 3 RBI and just one hit, a double. Taylor Green had a BB and HBP. He came around to score both times. Gindl gunned down a runner at 2nd as part of another clean sheet for an affiliate D tonight. Seth McClung started. He was generally ineffective. Seth was hit hard but he did not walk anyone unintentionally. Amaury Rivas played long man and earned a win with 2 scoreless. Mike McClendon finished as 5 pitchers saw action for the Sounds. Game Log XBH barrage Nashville Bottom of the 2nd Taylor Green hit by pitch. 12. One last thing about the BC game, T.J. Mittelstaedt started at 3B. Somewhat surprised, I checked his positions played over the years. 2010: 27 at 3B, 8 at 2B, 6 in RF, 4 in LF 2011: 65 in LF, 27 at 2B, 15 in RF, 2 at P 2012: 5 in LF, 2 at 3B, 1 at 2B T.J. is obviously versatile. What the heck is going to happen when Nick Ramirez needs to be activated?
  13. Brevard County 1 Dunedin (Blue Jays) 0 Box Score Pitching was the story on both sides. No team scored until the final play of the game. Austin Ross started for the Manatees, went 5 innings and dominated. Final line: 5 IP 2 H 0 R 0 ER 1 BB 4 K 1 HBP 7:2 GO:FO. That is a pretty nice ratio for Ross who gave up 1.1 HR/9 in 63 2/3 IP for the Manatees in 2011. Brian Garman proved equally dominant: 3 IP 1 H 0 R 0 ER 0 BB 2 K 2 HBP 1:3 GO:FO. Casey Medlen finished and impressively scavenged the win allowing 1 H and notching 1 K. A clean sheet for the D tonight including an outfield assist from LF Juan Sanchez and 3 turned double plays. Another Dunedin starter flustered the hitters as Sam Dyson looked strong. A 4th rounder in 2010, he only made is professional debut this season after a TJ surgery. The hitters had the last laugh as they walked off in bottom of the 9th. Leadoff man, and starting SS, Nick Shaw went 2-3 with a huge double in the ninth to start the winning rally. T.J. Mittelstaedt had a bunt single and steal. After a Cody Hawn short (apparently?) fly out, Miguel Velezquez was intentionally walked to load the bases. Michael Walker stepped up and hit a ball deep enough for Shaw to score on the tag. Insanity ensued... Game Log Proof of the previous paragraph I guess Brevard County Bottom of the 9th Pitcher Change: Egan Smith replaces Dayton Marze. Nick Shaw doubles (2) on a line drive to right fielder Jonathan Jones. T. J. Mittelstaedt singles on a bunt ground ball to pitcher Egan Smith. Nick Shaw to 3rd. With Cody Hawn batting, T. J. 14. He was back and forth between the rotation and pen in college. Even during his senior year. I don't think workload was an issue. I will add that he has a big league caliber arm, but barely. I see him as rotation fodder for a lower rung team or a capable middle reliever.
  15. Kyle Lobner notebooked the Rattlers game and had some interesting tidbits on David Goforth, Chad Pierce and Seth Harvey. The right-handed Harvey (24), a 2010 37th round pick, recorded 46 K in 33 1/3 innings for Helena (R+) in 2011.
  16. Kyle Lobner from Brew Crew Ball concurs (see comments section) (4/14): After the 3rd inning: "Up to 98 on the gun..." After the 2nd inning: "Goforth hitting 92 on the gun, gives up two singles but works out of it with a double play." ----> Just guessing, but that might have been his cutter. -Tedaldada Also, we get an impressive Chad Pierce nugget from Kyle (4/14): "Pierce showing a good curveball, getting some awkward swings and misses. Also hit 93 on the gun." And one more about RHP Seth Harvey from Kyle (4/14): "Seth Harvey hits 95 on the gun..."
  17. Brevard falls to Dunedin 4-1 04/13/2012 11:19 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees dropped their second game in a row to the Dunedin Blue Jays on Friday night at Space Coast Stadium, by the score of 4-1. Manatees' starter Hiram Burgos, who made his first start of the season, did not factor into the decision as he threw six shutout innings. He allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out four. Some small ball gave the 'Tees the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Reggie Keen led off the inning with a single and then Nick Shaw followed with a walk. T.J. Mittelstaedt laid down a picture-perfect sacrifice bunt in front of the catcher on the third base side to advance both Keen and Shaw 90 feet. Cody Hawn would drive a pitch out to right field for a sacrifice fly to score Keen and move Shaw to third. Brevard County was unable to do anymore damage though as Miguel Velazquez flew out to right to end the inning. Brevard County would hold the lead until the top of the eighth when Dunedin would score four runs off of Greg Holle. The Blue Jays took the lead with two outs and runners on second and third as Dunedin's Marcus Knecht singled to left field to score Oliver Dominguez. A second run would come in on the play as Mittelstaedt couldn't field the ball cleanly. Dunedin scored two more in the frame to pad their lead to 4-1. Brevard County tried to start a rally in the bottom of the ninth as Mike Walker and Shawn Zarraga led the inning off with back-to-back singles. Scott Krieger grounded into a double play and two batters later Keen flew out to end the threat, the inning and the game. The Manatees recorded just five hits and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Through eight games, Brevard County is hitting just .215 which is second-worst in the Florida State League. Conversely, the Manatees' pitching staff has an earned run average of 2.57, which is fourth-best in the FSL. Brevard County will look to avoid the sweep against Dunedin in the series finale on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. Austin Ross (0-0, 1.80) will toe the rubber for the Manatees as he makes his second start of the season. He allowed one run on five hits in five innings of work on Monday against Lakeland. Dunedin will counter with righty Sam Dyson (1-0, 4.50). Dyson allowed three earned runs in six innings of work in his first start of the season on Monday against Daytona.
  18. Sounds Fall 6-4 To Zephyrs In Home Opener 04/13/2012 10:23 PM ET Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds committed four errors while being handed a 6-4 loss to the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs in front of 7,333 fans in the home opener at Greer Stadium on Friday night. Nashville catcher Martin Maldonado went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, but also committed two of the club's errors from behind the dish. The four errors committed by the Sounds were the most since the club made four gasps in a 15-4 defeat on May 24, 2011 at Tacoma. The Zephyrs scored the first run of the game on the first two errors on the night by the Sounds. New Orleans second baseman Donovan Solano (3-for-4) singled and then advanced to third on an infield throwing error from starter Brian Baker. During the ensuing at-bat with runners on the corners, Maldonado attempted to throw out Scott Cousins stealing second base, but threw the ball into center field to allow Solano to score. Third baseman Matt Dominguez and catcher Luke Montz each belted solo homers in the second and fourth innings for a 3-0 lead. New Orleans tacked on their final three runs in the top of the fifth for 6-0 advantage. Outfielder Kevin Mattison doubled to lead off the frame and later scored on another errant pickoff throw from Maldonado to third base. The Zephyrs later added the other two runs on a Bryan Petersen RBI and sacrifice fly from Dominguez. Nashville rebounded to score their four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Eric Farris scored first after singling to lead off the frame, stealing second base, and coming home on Edwin Maysonet's RBI single. With the bases loaded after two straight singles from Hainley Statia and Logan Schafer, Caleb Gindl and Sean Halton brought home the next two runs on RBI groundouts. Maldonado singled in the last run to score Schafer. Baker (1-1) was touched for six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings for the loss. Amaury Rivas relieved Baker to finish the fifth, walking two and striking out one while allowing both inherited runners to score. Jim Henderson fanned one over two scoreless frames to extend his scoreless inning streak to open the season. Vinnie Chulk struck out two batters in a scoreless inning to finish the game. New Orleans starter Tom Koehler gave up four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Elih Villanueva tossed 2 1/3 frames in relief to move to 3-0 on the season. Sandy Rosario worked around an inning-opening hit-by-pitch convert his PCL-leading fourth save. The Sounds and Zephyrs will continue their series and play the second game of a four-game series at 6:35 pm CT on Saturday night at Greer Stadium. Nashville right-hander Seth McClung (0-1, 9.00) will toe the rubber against Zephyrs righty J.D. Martin (0-0, 6.23). Box Score The Sounds are just playing sloppy. 4 errors tonight. Brian Baker had 2 and Martin Maldonado had 2. 4 errors between battery mates is typically the kiss of death. Caleb Gindl did manage to chop down a runner at the plate with an assist. Everyone's favorite Maldonado (mine is actually Candy) did go 3-3 with a double. Taylor Green was back playing 3B and hitting cleanup. He went 1-3 with a BB. Logan Schafer lead off as usual and went 1-4 with a BB. Eric Farris played shortstop and stole a base. Perhaps Farris is being looked at for an Izturis-like role? Baker pitched and gave up too many hits and two home runs. Amaury Rivas relieved him and intentionally walked 2 of the 7 batters he faced helping to balloon Baker's line. Jim Henderson, Donovan Hand and Vinnie Chulk closed it out with 4 scoreless. 19. How did Ben McMahan not score from second on a Tyler Roberts double?
  20. Dunedin (Blue Jays) 4 Brevard County 1 Box Score Here is the draft profile Colbyjack provided for Hiram Burgos back in 2009. That was Bruce Seid's first draft. Burgos dueled Asher Wojciechowski for six innings tonight and left with the lead before the bullpen blew it. His final line: 6 IP 3 H 0 R 0 ER 2 BB 4 K 7:4 GO:FO 1 Pickoff. Well done, Hiram! LHP Alan Williams, a power pitcher, threw a clean 7th with 2 K giving him 5 K in 4 IP this season. That is what we expected from him. Greg Holle couldn't hold them giving up the deciding runs in the 8th. Connor Whalen didn't help Holle allowing his inherited runner to score. Whalen did finish with 3 K in 1 1/3 IP. Shawn Zarraga is hitting .500 with an infinity BB:K ratio (2:0) and 6 RBI, including his 2 hits tonight. He also reached via a HBP and stole a base. Miguel Velezquez had the lone XBH for the Manatees with a double. Franklin Romero Jr. pinch hit for him late, so hopefully Miguel is alright. I imagine the BC hitters will be happy to see this Dunedin rotation leave town. Game Log Holle's blowup Dunedin Top of the 8th Pitcher Change: Greg Holle replaces Alan Williams. 21. Wojciechowski for the Blue Jay is another one of their impressive stable of power pitchers. Any Manatees hot hitting should draw extra praise tonight.
  22. I think he hurt his wrist. Not a season killer. Should be hitting cleanup in BC by June.
  23. I mentioned a few days ago that Hiram Burgos was a reliever now. Well, he is starting tonight. He is a personal fav of mine (see the avatar). Not really because he is a prospect, I don't even really know why to be honest. I just like his name I guess.
