  1. Not sure why you take a guy out with a no-hitter in tact after throwing only 105 pitches. If you're up over 120 pitches, if you're well over your innings the prior season, or if you're under 25, I could understand. But at 28, Wilkerson is past the danger zone and has pitched roughly the same number of innings he did last season. Leave the dude in.
  2. Failure to use data to make decisions. Thames has a 1.408 OPS vs. the Reds. And he sits for Neil Walker at 1B.
  3. The 5th round pick they wasted on Yancey might have been able to be packaged with their 3rd round pick to move up in the 3rd to get Dan Feeney. Two picks after Jamal Williams was Sean Harlow; I think TT will come to regret that, but you can't predict that Jones and Mayes would be available later in the draft. They also could have packaged the wasted 6th round pick with the wasted 5th round pick to move up and get Asiata or Eluemunor. They had opportunities to address guard without taking a flyer on a late round OT with no guard experience from a non-power-five conference team.
  4. Just off the DL, and with a shoulder injury just being cautious. Likely a 45-50 pitch count limit, and was at 43 after 3 with an opportunity to PH for him.
  5. There's going to be a lot of competition for the 5th spot - Hader, Guerra, Jungmann, Wilkerson, Hauser. Then at AAA you could have Wilkerson, Hauser, Burnes, Ortiz, Peralta, Derby, Perrin, Ventura (if he's back). At AA you could have Peralta, Perrin, Ponce, Yamamoto, Medeiros, Diplan, Bickford At A+ you could have Bickford, Diplan, Supak, Z. Brown, Webb, Jankins, Owenby. One thing's for sure - the Brewers don't need to be dipping into the free agent starting pitching pool. Plenty of depth, especially at the upper levels.
  6. Doesn't sound like one of the options was Milwaukee, so we won't know.
  7. According to sources, the Packers have cut Clark, McCaffrey, Yancey, and Dupre. Packers moving forward with Nelson, Adams, Cobb, Janis, and Davis with Allison on the reserve-suspended list.
  8. According to sources, the Packers are looking at guards who have been cut.
  9. We may have all missed the reason - it could be foresight to adjust the rotation so that Nelson, Anderson, and Davies pitch in the Cubs series: https://www.brewcrewball.com/2017/9/1/16240462/milwaukee-brewers-may-be-adjusting-their-rotation-for-showdown-with-the-cubs
  10. Stokes with his 20th HR on the season, and needs one more SB for a 20/30 season.
  11. gregmag, you've been around here long enough to know not to go into the political realm, and your last link goes way, way into that. Knock it off. Second, you didn't seem to get to the last paragraph of this article: "I'm not going to throw another ball, and that's it," Garza said. "If I wasn't a good team guy, I'd just ask to go home. I've got four kids and a wife pregnant with two. I don't know. I haven't made a decision yet. I'll go from there." Yes, yes it does mention his wife's pregnancy.
  12. (*Sigh*) http://m.brewers.mlb.com/roster/transactions/2017/06
  13. The 5th/6th WRs have to be able to play special teams, and Janis excels at that. Not just as a gunner on punts but also on kick returns - career average of 26.3 yards/KR. And he's improved his route running substantially over the last two years. I am not at all surprised that he made the team. Have a soft spot for Clark, you know, since I called him as a UDFA. But I don't know that he makes someone else's active roster. Just so many WRs coming out of college now with the spread/up-tempo offenses.
  14. I'm guessing Wilkerson, Ortiz, Lopez, and Coulter to CS to backfill for Guerra/Wang/Woodruff/Phillips
  15. Yep, it was Braun. There's a reason why the Brewers protected him from the Rule 5, same as why they protected Houser.
  16. HIPAA, specifically the Privacy Rule. Along those lines, I don't recall anyone, much less pro athletes, being required to disclose details on any medical conditions regarding them or their family. My best friends' wife was pregnant with twins. You know the outcome. Shaw did go home, twice - from June 5-7 (paternity) and then again from June 9-13 (bereavement).
  17. If he was first-team All Pro he would have a plus by that year: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SittJo20.htm Show me links to the press releases naming him All-Pro and I'll believe you.
  18. Derby's minor league numbers - at CS at least - are a lot like Blazek's. Blazek gives up a few more hits and walks, but a few less HRs and strikes out a few more. I see him being a swing man/7th reliever type who bounces back and forth between the majors and AAA. The guy I've been watching is Drake Owenby. Small sample, but since coming off of the DL/rehab assignment he has 12.2 K/9 and a 5.22 K/BB, 5.7 H/9. Had it not been for the injury he would likely have started in Carolina, but it's possible he could jump Carolina next year and go to AA. Possible back-end-of-rotation guy (similar OPS-A vs RHH or LHH), certainly LH reliever prospect.
  19. Remember, Michael Brantley was a PTBNL, so I wouldn't declare this a lopsided trade just yet. [sarcasm]Kate Upton must love Houston, because she sure would never accept a trade to Milwaukee.[/sarcasm]
  20. Considering his wife is not in a high-risk pregnancy with twins right now (as far as I know), I'd say the chances are significantly less of that happening. (One of my best friends just lost both of his twins due to complications of a high-risk pregnancy, in case you think something like that isn't serious.)
  21. They said Suter is being activated but will not say what his role will be. I'm guessing Suter starts on Sunday, and with him coming off the DL I think they will have him on a pitch count and go as far as he can go, then bring in Garza. Sunday is too short for it to be Jungmann (another very good performance tonight if you haven't checked the minor league link report) or Wilkerson. With Colorado Springs in the AAA playoffs there will be a lot of moving pieces this weekend - they may not yet know who to bring up right away and who backfills from AA. My guess is Jungmann and Guerra to MIL, and CS's playoff rotation is Blazek/Espino/Derby/Ventura, with Wilkerson/Perrin/T. Williams backfilling for Woodruff/Jungmann/Guerra.
  22. Good but not great pitching lines all the way from low-A to AAA, with Jungmann really good. Webb with good peripherals - 3 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 6 IP, Brown didn't walk a batter in 6 IP, Wilkerson his usual solid self, and Jungmann the only one to put up a shutout over his 6 innings.
  23. I purchased a new WiFi router with three antennas and "beamforming technology". I get a little better range and speed, but not much. The extender doesn't work really well either. I get decent download speed from it (5-10 Mbps, depending on how far away I am), but basically no upload. Not sure if that means it's a defect. I think the main culprit is that it is a long rectangular masonry building with a concrete stairwell in the middle of it. The concrete stairwell blocks the WiFi signal from getting from one end to the other. Because of that, I can't place the range extender that far down the hall because it loses signal. Does a range extender on top of a range extender work? And is there any way to set up a second WiFi router as a range extender without having an ethernet cable input? Everything I read says that you have to have an ethernet input to use a WiFi router as a range extender. Can't/don't want to run 75' of ethernet cable down my hall. Oh, here's the fun part - I tried purchasing a second cable modem and connecting it to the cable in the bedroom; thought that would do the trick by just setting up a second WiFi router. I have internet, but it automatically goes to xFinity's activation page (you have to activate a cable modem if you purchase one yourself). But... you cannot have more than one cable modem on your account, or they will charge you double for internet. Now let me get this straight... you can add second/third/fourth cable boxes for $10/month, but you cannot add a second cable modem without doubling what you pay for cable? Seriously??
  24. I know it's only low-A, but Houser looking really good so far in his rehab outings. Today only needed 38 pitches to get through three innings, striking out 4 and walking none, 26 of 38 pitches for strikes. Like Taylor Williams, there's a reason the Brewers protected him in the Rule 5. I really can't believe that Nick Ramirez has pitched almost 80 innings this year after not pitching since 2011. If you throw out the first two months of the season (getting used to pitching again), June/July/August have been outstanding. What's also amazing is that he's averaging almost two innings per appearance and has faced twice as many RHH as LHH. He's not just a LOOGY. Perrin, like Yamamoto, just keeps on trucking. Not quite as good as the ERA, as he has a .256 BAA, but when you don't walk many guys you can give up hits without getting in too much trouble.
