  1. Oh, there has been plenty of talk about the Nats brass wanting Harper gone for YEARS.
  2. Until the physicals are completed, the medical records reviewed, and the paperwork signed off on, he's still property of the White Sox and they control where he is located. Just because the media has reported a trade doesn't make it official.
  3. Ponce only went two innings. Hopefully the transfer to Helena was for a minor injury and this is a rehab start.
  4. If you can take something away from a direct competitor it has extra value - not just the gain to you, but the loss to the competitor.
  5. Or the during last couple of games of the season if the Brewers have been eliminated.
  6. So Neshek was supposed to fetch a top 100 prospect (or very close to)....
  7. The problem is that until that paperwork and physical are completed, he's still property of the White Sox, and they dictate where he is.
  8. For as hot as he was in June, Nottingham sure has cooled off in July - .615 OPS for the month. Who the heck is Chase Williams?
  9. For every Medeiros start there has always been a "but..." about his performance. Not tonight. Ks a little low, but I'll take zero BB and zero ER in 6 IP any day. And Luis Ortiz seems to have figured something out recently.
  10. Taylor Williams a huge miss - he definitely belongs there. Ponce and Bickford should be higher than Supak - Supak has struggled at A+ so far. These prospect lists will favor upside, but I give more weight to performance at AA and above so you'll see Hauser (like Williams there is a reason they protected him from the Rule 5), Derby, Wang, Barrios, etc., higher on my list than a Ward/Rodriguez/etc. Even if those guys end up relievers, we've seen that good relief pitching has a lot of value.
  11. When evaluating his bat, keep in mind he has been a career CF until he was acquired by the Brewers. He was moved to the corners because he's behind Brinson on the CF depth chart.
  12. I hate to break this to the anti-Garza crowd, but among NL pitchers with at least 60 IP this year Garza ranks 26th in ERA (and two of the pitchers ahead of him - Randall Delgado and Mike Montgomery - have only started 5 and 8 games respectively this year). He's actually much closer to a #2 - and arguably could be considered a #2 - than a #5.
  13. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/huascar-ynoa-headed-to-atlanta-braves-in-jaime-garcia-deal/c-244165718/t-185364810 Twins also get 33-year-old journeyman Anthony Recker in the deal. Not sure how much cash. Ynoa was the 14th-17th rated international prospect three years ago. He had a very good year last year but this year has struggled in a small sample at their higher-level rookie league. Has upside, but is a long way off. Ynoa was signed for $800K, so I think the comp would be more along the lines of Lujano or Pierre.
  14. Brewers organizational scoreboard for today: http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?sid=milb&org=158&ymd=20170724
  15. While Ray is having a disappointing season, he is still worth no less than a starting pitcher.
  16. In college they didn't want him throwing his changeup for some reason, so I'm sure he's working on it. The results say that the stuff is there... he just needs to find the strike zone more.
  17. I have a feeling that Milwaukee's interest in Kinsler is nothing more than "we'll take him if you take less in prospects for Wilson". Kinsler had a great year last year, but it was far and away the best of his last six seasons. I want no part of him unless it means no top-15 prospects for Wilson.
  18. If my calculations are correct, and assuming that the suspension does not count towards service time, Braun's 10/5 rights vest +/- 3 days from today. Shopping better happen quick, or else the shopping list will be the Dodgers or Angels or bust.
  19. The CF depth of this organization is amazing. Some of these guys don't play CF now, but that's because they are on the same team as a better CF. Every one of these guys has played CF the most in their career except for Stokes: MLB: Phillips AAA: Brinson, Broxton, Cordell AA: Taylor A+: Ray, T. Clark, Harrison, Stokes A: (no one of note) Rookie: Z. Clark, Pierre This does not include Wren, Reed, Lujano, and Lutz has seen some games in CF in Arizona. I think Stokes has been stuck in LF mostly because he's been on the same teams as T. Clark/Harrison and now Ray. The Brewers could deal several of these guys and still be stacked in CF. People know my thoughts on Ray; he's still a great prospect but I think he'll have more trade value now than two years from now. They deal Ray, they still have T. Clark/Harrison at that level/age. I'd gladly move Brinson for the right young pitcher with multiple years of control if it meant not giving up one of the big four pitching prospects (Hader, Woodruff, Ortiz, Burnes), simply because of the level of depth at CF. Phillips is the one guy I want to keep because he's a lefty and provides LH balance in the lineup, but like Brinson I'd move him for a young pitcher if it meant not giving up one of the big four pitching prospects.
  20. Acquired for cash or a PTBNL. Sounds like the Cotts trade a few years ago. I think it's safe to assume that there will not be any top prospects in the deal. Market seems to be shaping up similar to last year, where above-average relievers aren't valued much and it will take elite relievers/closers to bring back top prospects.
  21. Save for Drake Owenby, not one positively notable performance up and down the entire system.
  22. I have Phillips (#7), Taylor Williams (#9), and then a battle between T. Clark and F. Peralta for #10/#11, and Ray (#16), Erceg (#15), and Dubon (#14) out of my top 10. At #12 I have Ponce and #13 I have Bickford. Cordell, Nottingham, Harrison, and Diplan round out the top 20.
  23. The walk hurt, but no hard hit balls. Knebel made a great pitch, it was an even better piece of hitting to muscle that pop up into a dead zone.
  24. The Cubs have gutted their farm system adding Quintana, Chapman, Montgomery, Davis, etc. Lester and Arrieta are on the wrong side of 30 and have regressed. Lackey is probably done. Montgomery has been bad as a starter. They are going to have to dip from their major league roster to add another starter, and Schwarber has negative defensive value. It will cost more than Happ if they want to add a starter under 30 with control. I could see them willing to take on Samardzjia's contract though, which they can get for Happ.
  25. Zack Brown is on a tear. Over his last 32 innings (only counting five so far tonight) he's given up 5 ER, walks a little high at 11, and struck out 32. Nice to see Ortiz back on track after a few rough outings.
