  1. FV, I do not buy into that logic at all. You're right in that it's supply and demand, both of which are affected by price. People usually don't go to games by themselves, they go with multiple people, especially to away games. If they go with three other people, the cost goes from, say, $200 ($50/ticket x 4 tickets) to say $440 ($50/ticket for Cubs game plus two mid-week games at $30/ticket, so $110/set of tickets x 4 tickets). That will reduce demand for single game tickets. If they go to the secondary market instead to buy single game tickets, that increases the demand in the secondary market which will increase the price of tickets in the secondary market. It may or may not increase the supply of tickets in the secondary market. The secondary market is predominantly season ticket package holders, of which the supply will stay the same. Not all will sell in the secondary market, especially if the Brewers are competitive. But the higher price will drive down demand for Cubs fans to buy in the secondary market. The comparison of "more Cubs fans" is to the demand if there is no surcharge for single game tickets (i.e. having to buy extra games). I find it highly unlikely that there will be more Cubs fans if there is a surcharge for single game tickets than if there isn't.
  2. It really is an interesting debate - Hader for 5-6 innings every five games, or 2-3 innings every 3 games. Prior to this game, Thames had a 1.001 OPS for September, and now has four total bases this game. Yes, it is almost exclusively against RHP, but most of the league is RHP. This notion that the league has figured him out is a bit premature.
  3. Hard to believe that Quintana already has 13 starts for the Cubs this year. I think people forget how much the Cubs have given up to acquire Quintana, Wade Davis, Wilson, and Avila for this season and Chapman, Montgomery, and Zobrist last season. They did all of that, and they still couldn't run away from the Brewers. The other lesson here is that the Cubs didn't win by hanging on to their prospects. Yes, they invested in free agents (Lester, Hayward, Jay, Uehara), but they had to make trades to shore up their holes in order to win it.
  4. And once again Thames showing why Counsell should have started him in the series at Cincy.
  5. According to StubHub, this is the most expensive ticket in baseball today, with the cheapest being $35. The least expensive, believe it or not, is San Francisco at LA Dodgers. Over 4000 available with the cheapest being $3.
  6. Homer, how much did it cost to freeze your credit and how long is the freeze in effect for?
  7. Do what many Wisconsin Badgers football opponents do and require you to purchase other games in order to purchase tickets for these games. Won't hurt season ticket holders because they already purchase multiple games. Most Brewers fans will go to multiple games over the course of the season so it won't hurt them.
  8. I vaguely recall the cussing ban being lifted for a day or two a few years ago and limited to one particular thread. Seems like a good time for a comeback. It was after they lost to the Cardinals in the 2011 NLCS. I was just going to post that we need to revive a similar thread.
  9. Amazing things can happen when you don't strike out.
  10. Pull the old 2002 UW vs UNLV and have the power mysteriously go out before the game becomes official.
  11. Just like UW vs UNLV in 2002, the power could mysteriously go out before the game becomes official...
  12. Will Knebel now be unavailable tomorrow against the Cubs?
  13. Pretty hard to beat Petco. The neighborhood, the stadium, the weather. California has perhaps the two best (Petco, AT&T) and the three worst (Dodgers, Angels, A's). (Some) Dodgers fans are almost as bad as the drunken smug Wrigleyville 20-somethings. Not sure if Arizona still has a Leinie's Lodge outside the stadium, but if they do, it's right up there. I think overall it's underrated. Surprisingly, Cardinals fans at the stadium were very tolerable. They pretty much mind their own business. They've done a good job of building up the area around the stadium.
  14. Tyson Ross is now a year and a half removed from thoracic outlet surgery. After he came off the DL for blisters his fastball was up, but ended up getting released. Not sure what the success rate is after that type of surgery, but from what I know it's better than rotator cuff/labrum surgery and just takes a while. An injury/performance risk for sure, but he won't command more than a one year deal and it won't be for much. Will be 31 next year. I know what you're getting at, but quality starting pitching under the age of 30 without injury or performance risk is going to have an awful price tag.
  15. Just. Pure. Filth. Weren't some calling for Knebel to be replaced as the closer earlier this year?
  16. Two HOF QBs, but two radically different GMs (I don't count Sherman). One invested heavily in FA but gave his QB very few weapons, the other rarely spends in FA and gives his QB arguably too many weapons at the expense of other positions.
  17. Ground ball singles for a run. About time the Brewers have been on the positive side of those.
  18. Well, I hate to say this, but not many ballparks have a view of a national monument.
  19. That's because they got skidmarks in their britches!
  20. It's not the forum, it's whatever device you are using to post on the forum.
  21. MLB and ESPN game feeds are both down for me...
  22. None of Votto, Rizzo, or Goldschmidt are correct. Goldschmidt is fourth though. Rizzo is 26th, Votto is 29th.
  23. On MLB network they are showing Brewers highlights right now and they show Thames in LF and mention Walker at 1B. Harold Reynolds: "Why mess around?" "... trying to figure out the best lineup." HR: "Is it?" Pretty much agree with Harold.
