I double checked. The shot clock on the screen was wrong and was started early. The shot clock on the screen is not the official shot clock. The Illinois player was shooting free throws with 35.3 seconds left. Would not have been possible for the shot clock to be at 20 with more than 25 seconds left.

Yes, you absolutely can. And you would have had a conniption and said that they aren't trying to win. Easy to judge something after the fact once the results are in.

Apparently it was also on NBC Sports Network, which I have on YouTube TV. Didn't say anything about it in anything that I read. Thought that I wouldn't be able to watch it. Why not say it was also on NBC Sports Network? This whole Peacock thing just frosts my shorts.

This is all well and good, but Wilson won exactly zero MVPs in his career, much less one the year before he was traded. And didn't GB move on from two HOF QBs they had by drafting QBs late in the 1st round and trading those HOF QBs before those HOF QBs were past their prime? What's the difference between nailing their replacement in the draft and trading them?

Better defense means pitchers throw less pitches. Pitchers throwing less pitches means less mistake/bad pitches thrown. Less mistake/bad pitches thrown means less runs given up, better performance from not as talented pitchers.

Saw a tweet/X this morning that said that Seattle lost the least amount of salary $ to IR of any team in the NFL this past season.

Maybe a year earlier than ideal, but seems like it was too good of a deal to pass up. You can always trade pitching to fill holes. Wouldn't surprise me if another deal is on the horizon.

Gonzales and JSN were both in the 2023 draft. Don't disagree about having either instead of LVN. But JSN had 4 catches for 24 yards; their D-Line won the Super Bowl for them. And people would still find a way to complain about Gonzales not having an INT in 2025. They think Gary, who's had 46.5 sacks in 7 seasons, is a bust.

It frees up salary to be able to take on a player in a trade, or extend current players early with a signing bonus that can partially count towards that season's cap. But Hobbs is really a slot CB and they have Bullard. The need is more at boundary CB. So, maybe they wait to see if they get a CB they really like in the draft and release Hobbs after spring camp.

Exactly. "Wholesale changes" is not the same as "some changes". Keisan Nixon's overall PFF grade was 41st out of 114 CBs. Not Pro Bowl worthy, but close to the top 1/3rd of the league. You don't dump any player who is near the top 1/3rd of players at their position. Carrington Valentine's overall PFF grade was 43rd out of 114 CBs. Would we like someone better? Of course. But it's the NFL - nobody has top 20 players at every position. News flash - the list of CBs who like to tackle Derrick Henry (or any big RB) is a very, very short list.

College hockey has known for a long time that the Olympics were going to be during this time. They had plenty of time to flip the conference and non-conference games so that the non-conference games were being played now. The SEC football teams schedule non-conference cupcakes in November to give them a break for a week. It's not that hard.

The NBA is doing what it is designed to do - rotate teams at the top. It's really hard to win more than one finals. For as stacked as the Celtics and Lakers have been the last decade, they have also only won one Championship each during that time. Celtics were in the conference finals six times before they broke through and won the title in 2024. The cap, the aprons, the draft... it's all designed to rotate who is at the top. You have to get really lucky in the draft on multiple picks and/or have someone make an absolutely stupid trade with you (OKC) to win multiple championships (and OKC hasn't completed that yet).

Ticketmaster has restricted the ability to buy tickets for Sunday's Broncos-Patriots game to only billing addresses in the Colorado area. I had no idea that was legal.

Beltran had 435 HRs and a career OPS of .837; for a CF, that's really good. Career bWAR of 70. Yes, there's some longevity involved, but he was a 2.2 bWAR player and had an .850 OPS as a 39-year-old. He wasn't just hanging on in mediocrity.

Do you by chance live in or near a major metropolitan area? If so, I highly recommend OneMedical, which is affiliated with Amazon. Loved it in Chicago, the doctor was on-time, listened, and was totally chill. OneMedical is here in Denver, but for some reason only for Medicare patients.
