    Mendoza was the #4 ranked QB. Very unlikely he goes to Indiana without Cuban's money. Rankings weigh every player the same. Getting the #4 QB in the portal is exponentially more impactful than getting some former 4-star backup safety or WR. You can have the best eye for talent in the world, but in today's college sports landscape if someone else offers more money it won't matter.

    Is Hall of Fame the same thing as a "mediocre-at-best" QB? You don't last 19 years in the NFL being a "mediocre at best" QB.

    Got another DL, Jake Anderson from Illinois State. 6'5", 295, 3-year starter and All Conference the last two years.

    Apparently, Dilin Jones didn't actually enter into the portal until yesterday, some time around when they signed Palmer. Jones' agent told UW back on 12/23 he was going to enter the portal, and proceeded to shop around but not actually enter the portal. Meanwhile, UW needed bodies and filled the position. Jones told UW he was willing to come back, but UW had either already spent his $$ or offered very little because the position was already filled. Grass isn't always greener on the other side.

They just signed another RB today, TCU transfer Nate Palmer. On the bright side, Danny O'Neill could be ready by fall camp. But that would be the earliest, thus the search for another QB.

    Neither, really. They predominantly run a 2-4-5 or a 4-2-5. For the first year or two it was more like a 2-4-5 or 3-3-5 but towards the end of 2024 and last year it was more of a 4-2-5 with the edge rushers/DEs playing more with their hand in the dirt. I think it was more of a 2-4-5 the first year and a half because they didn't have the size at DL and thought that would get their best personnel on the field. Last year though they had more size at edge (Peterson at ~260 lbs, Walker at ~290 lbs, Reiger with his hand in the dirt), so it was more of a 4-2-5. It's not much different than what Leonhard ran. He used a 2-4-5 which worked with most teams... until they got run over by Ohio State and occasionally Iowa.

    13 years ago, and has missed the playoffs almost half of the years since. And I wouldn't call a guy who is 14th all time in passing yards, 21st all time in passing TDs, and 131st all time in PFR's Approximate Value as a "mediocre-at-best" QB.

Now, even more for 2026. No wonder they are doing so well. What if Indiana in 2024 had a strength of schedule that, instead of 14th in the Big Ten/55th in the nation, was the toughest in the Big Ten/top 5 in the nation, like Wisconsin's in 2025, and they finish something like 6-6? They played two ranked teams in 2024 and got blown out by both of them. Does Cuban bankroll the program in 2025 if they finish 6-6 in 2024? Are they where they are simply because of a lucky break in their schedule?

    Depends on the health prognosis for O'Neil. If they don't anticipate him back in time for the season, I could see them adding a Hunter Simmons-like 3rd string QB.

    They also spent a lot in FA. IIRC, one of the top 3 teams. Easier to do that with a QB on a rookie contract with a cap hit of $8.3M than a 2nd-contract QB with a $29.7M cap hit.

    Harbaugh lost to the Chiefs and Patriots in the playoffs a combined total of once in the seven seasons he's been with Jackson. I was told that every team has injuries.

    Just got Junior Poyser, a 6'1" 310 lb DT from Buffalo. Redshirt SO last season, 31 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble. All MAC 3rd Team. Good get. Missed out on Adam Trick from the same conference, who still appears in Davis Heinzen's nightmares. Committed to the Texa$ Tech Red Raider$$$..

    He's had eight years of 2x MVP Lamar Jackson and never made the Super Bowl, the conference championship only once. Missed the playoffs twice, twice lost the WC round, 3x lost the Division round. People complain about MLF not making the Super Bowl with four years of Rodgers... what has Harbaugh accomplished with 8 years of Jackson?

    UW lands former Arkansas OL Blake Cherry. Cherry, as a true freshman, played every game last year on special teams (I assume that to mean the FG unit). #66 OT in the 2025 class,

    Cornerback #3, Javan Robinson, formerly a starting CB at Arizona State the last two years. So, CB, starting QB, OC, TE, and RB likely filled. Another 12 or so to go. 3 WRs, 2 OL, 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 S, maybe a Hunter Simmons-like 3rd string QB. I think they let Carter Smith be the #2. I'm hearing some stupid numbers for WRs. One of the ODU WRs that played with UW's new QB just committed to LSU, so UW probably got significantly outbid for his services.

    Andy Reid looked like the greatest coach of our generation... when he had peak Mahomes, Kelce, and Chris Jones. Now that those guys are injured and past their prime... 6-11, losing the last 6 in a row.

    It's nuts. Basically, for a QB, unless you project to be a 1st or 2nd round pick, you'll make more money playing college ball.
