    Some rogue ones who have an agenda might (see: Mike Wilfong), and those are the ones you hear about in the news, which gives you that perception. But those are the exception, not the norm. Ask some DA's.

    DA's aren't going to pursue any charges that they don't think they have at least a 95% chance of convicting on. If they don't think they have a really strong case, they won't pursue a charge because it's a waste of time and taxpayer dollars, it affects the reputation of the DA and potentially future cases, and it could put them at risk for a defamation suit if there isn't strong evidence.

    Statistically it really isn't that much different from society as a whole, it's just that it's becomes a lot higher profile when pro athletes are involved. And what pro athletes do isn't really any more stupid than what society does. See my post above about what happens when the Packers lose.

    My sister used to work for a police department in the Fox Valley. She said that domestic violence/disturbance calls skyrocketed on days where the Packers lost. There is definitely a segment of Packers fans (not saying that it's anyone on this board) for whom it would be real hypocritical to say to cut Jacobs.

    IL for a pitcher is a minimum of 15 days. IL for a position player is 10 days.

    Reminds me of Michael Brantley. Was Michael Brantley a very good to great player? Yes! Was there any room on the Brewers for Brantley to play? No, not with Braun, Cameron, and Gomez. Could the Brewers have gotten more for Brantley than as a piece for Sabathia? Unlikely, not without proving him at the major league level, which wasn't going to happen with Braun, Cameron, and Gomez there.

    Bichette out of the game. Injury, or are they waiving the white flag really early? Bichette didn't bat last inning, so I don't know what injury it could be.

    This whole "cost them the game" is overblown nonsense. The Brewers scored two runs in 10 innings and failed to score a runner in the top of the 10th. Shouldn't have come down to a play at the plate in the 10th. They replaced Pratt, a .680 OPS hitter, with Hamilton, a .649 OPS hitter. Unlikely that keeping Pratt in would have scored more runs. Nobody knows what would have happened if Pratt had stayed in the game. And IIRC, Ortiz did the same thing as Hamilton earlier this year in rushing a throw home that sailed wide, didn't he? I think somebody did. Even if they make that out at home, they still have to get one more out with the bases loaded, and if they get two more outs the game is still tied; no guarantee that the Brewers win. If there is something outside of those things that cost them the game that I missed, let me know. But if those things are what people are referring to... saying that it cost them the game is a pretty big stretch.

    Pitcher will continue to be the Lazy Susan of whomever is on the 40-man and rested when they need an extra arm. Position will be either Lockridge or Naylor. Naylor allows them to DH one of Contreras or Sanchez and then pinch run for the other. But need Lockridge to pinch run for Contreras or Sanchez. Maybe Frelick/Lara is the pinch runner.

    It's OK to say that the pitcher made a great pitch. Occasionally that happens.

    The 5.5 game lead has lasted since June 1st.

    I wouldn't write Wilken off just yet. He has a .796 OPS over the last 28 days and had a .878 OPS in June. Only turned 24 back in June. The question is if he suffered permanent eye damage; he struggled early this year, was out of the lineup for a while in late May/early June, and then came back great in June. My guess is that he had more eye therapy done during that time. The biggest question with that entire group is if any of them project to be good enough defensively to be an average ML 3B. Fischer will be given every opportunity to prove it, but from everything I've read it seems like he has a ways to go. For their careers, Wilken has 1850 innings at 3B, 550 at 1B, and 9 G at DH; Adams has 1680 innings at 3B, 970 at 1B, and 8 G at DH, so it seems that Wilken may be thought of as a little better 3B than Adams. And Adamczewski needs to be added to the DH discussion. Not much room in the OF either.
