  1. Dempster gives up two. d-backs up 2-1. Dempster has only given up 3 hits, has walked 3, and has thrown 118 pitches through 6 innings. That is a lot of pitches.
  2. That is the luck side of baseball right there. Brewers have hit some hard balls that the Cards got to, but right there two grounders for the Cards turn into singles and now they have two on for Pujols
  3. Hall, on the other hand, in May is hitting .107 with an OBP of .286. He is walking more with 7 walks in 8 games but also 10 K's
  4. Another nice defensive play for the Cards.
  5. They have had numerous hard hit outs. Miles took an RBI away from Cameron on a nice diving play. Prince almost took Kennedy's head off and he still caught. They have also hit some other hard balls, but it isnt like they are hitting them to wall or anything
  6. Isringhausen has now been pulled from the closer role, but the rest of that bullpen has blown 4 saves as well, so that should be interesting
  7. I have put Cordero in there now. I cant get it to line up for easy readability, but oh well. If you look further into the numbers St. Louis has 9 total blown saves. The Brewers have 7. The Cubs have 6. The Astros have 4. The Pirates have 1 and Cincy has 0. Interesting that the two last place teams have the best save percentage and lowest about of blown saves.
  8. Obviously, it has been rough with Gagne struggling, but I was talking to a friend about the state of the closers in the Central and it seemed everyone was struggling. I decided to check some stats. Cordero and Capps are both perfect and in there now (I messed it up at first) Gagne 14 save opp with 9 saves, 5 blown saves and a save percentage of 64 Isringhausen 16 save opp with 11 saves, 5 blown saves and a save percentage of 69 Wood 9 save opp with 6 saves, 3 blown saves and a save percentage of 67 Velverde 10 save opp with 7 saves, and 3 blown saves and a save percentage of 70 Capps 8 save opp with 8 saves, and 0 blown saves and a save percentage of 100 Cordero 5 save opp with 5 saves, and 0 blown saves and a save percentage of 100
  9. I was wondering how a guy was talked about so little around here could be our number 11 prospect. Makes a little more sense now.
  10. Would this be their asking price? Lincecum for LaPorta (or Gamel), Escobar, Jeffress, and Braddock? That is steep.
  11. I always forget they floated Lincecum this winter, maybe because I think it is just crazy. Bedard and Haren were available this winter but it took quite the haul to get them both. Haren cost the Diamondbacks 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 8th best prospects along with Eveland .Bedard cost Adam Jones, George Sherrill (not a great player but he does have 11 saves) and three other guys. I am guessing Lincecum would cost a pretty penny due to his age and his stuff. He is coming into his own right now and I dont think Gamel would be enough to be the center piece. Even though I like him a lot, LaPorta is rated much higher than him and would be the center piece in my mind. Would you give up LaPorta and three other prospects for Lincecum? Or would you give Hart for him straight up? That is the question, and it is hard for me to answer because I think Lincecum along with Yo could be downright filthy for the next couple years.
  12. "Before the season, Baseball America rated Rivas as the Brewers' No. 11 prospect. Rivas is likely to stay in Charleston for the full season." This doesn't seem right. He is 48 on the Power 50. I only can find the Brewers top 10 prospects, but was Rivas really number 11?
  13. Why? They aren't in any position to win with him anytime soon. I'd think with how desperate they are for some young bats a package of Gamel and Gwynn would nicely fill two holes for them and a high potential arm like Jeffress would help justify them moving an arm of his quality. I actually like that deal for both sides. I love Gamel but do we really want yet another bat that we have to somehow hide his glove somewhere? The question is would you make that trade for Gallardo? Lincecum has been ranked a tick above him by scouts at least a couple I read. There is no way I trade Gallardo for a 4th or 5th outfielder, a low A ball pitcher with a great arm and an issue with weed, and a sweet hitting potential 3rd baseman but more likely an OF. I know the Giants are desperate (that explains the Aaron Rowand contract) but I think they could get more for Lincecum. I would send that deal to the Giants in a second, but I don't think they would be so quick to take it. My guess is they would want LaPorta in any deal.
  14. Well now we know what Witrado said. I actually agree with him that the Giants wouldn't trade Lincecum. They would be crazy to, unless they got an insane offer
  15. Someone said something about Anthony Witrado mentioning Gamel plus for Lincecum but I could not find out where. That said Gamel, LaPorta, Parra, and Gwynn would be way too much for Lincecum. I like him a lot but I think the Gamel, Jeffress, Gwynn trade is a little closer.
  16. I didn't mean either of those guys could replace Prince's full value to the team. I think LaPorta can be a consistent 30+ home run guy. Gamel, I am not sure on but he is a nice prospect. Prince's overall production is irreplaceable but if you can get a top-end of the rotation prospect (like Yo was a couple years back) and get another position player prospect with upside, along with another prospect then you have something going. I want Prince to be in Milwaukee for his career I just dont think that is possible so I am trying to figure out what we could get for him. What would you think would be fair value (or what you need in return) for Prince?
  17. Sign me up for taking two relief pitchers early. With the price of relief pitching these days I think it would make sense. Obviously. I would like some starting pitching as well but both Fields and Weatherford's numbers and stuff sound great. I look at in terms of value. How valuable are Rivera, Papelbon and Nathan to their teams respectively? If those guys are there for the taking and no other player just wows you, why not take them?
  18. The Dodgers would be a good place to start in looking at what Prince is worth. They have a need at first base, and some solid prospects. Kershaw would definitely have to be part of it as would Andy LaRoche. Honestly, you look at what the Diamondbacks gave up from their system for Haren, I think the Brewers could get a haul for Prince. To me, Prince is that guy on the roster to trade (not this year by any means but closer to when his contract is up) because he is most likely to price himself out of Milwaukee. With LaPorta and Gamel waiting in the wings the Brewers SEEM to have guys who could step in and play first and hit rather well.
  19. The only way I would deal either of these guys is for an arm like Lincecum. Lincecum and Yo for the next few years would be amazing, but are the Giants crazy enough to trade him. As fro Gamel and LaPorta being moved up I would guess all-star break as well. I would like to see them in AAA at some point, especially LaPorta. I would rather not rush Gamel because of his glove. From what I have read LaPorta has looked decent in the outfield, whereas Gamel is a work in progress. Gamel's value is sky high as a third baseman so I would love to see him take the time to work at that position.
  20. Joe Thatcher picked up his 4th loss of the year for the Padres today. The Padres are pretty disappointing this season.
  21. Hall may have home runs but he has also struck out 21 more times. They are both struggling mightily.
  22. Braddock pitched on May 3rd, he just had a rougher outing. I think Brevard County has some nice pitching prospects with Braddock, Butler (who has pitched well since the trade), Periard, and Hand all as starters. They also have Mike Jones trying to restart his career. Along with that they have one of our better relief prospects in Omar Aguilar. I think the Power have some nice prospects who just are struggling a little right now. Bryson has struck out 31 in 20 innings. They have other guys to watch like Tyson, Seidel, Anundson, and Mercedes. The Sounds have some older guys who are pitching well so far like Hammond, Miller, and Narron. They also have Brae Wright who is a lefty like the other three. None of those guys wow me but they are guys to keep tabs on because they are lefties who are starting to put it together. The Brewers do not have a Yo right now in my mind, and I am excited for Jeffress and Rogers (yeah I still believe he can make it). The loss of Inman and Garrison hurt but I think there are guys who are going to surface as solid prospects. My best bet after Jeffress would be Braddock and Bryson. The minor leagues pitching prospects are not nearly on the level as our hitting prospects but we do have some nice arms and this draft should really reload the system
  23. Honestly, I wonder if there is a better lineup than Hunstville. They have legit prospects up and down that lineup. Obviously, that is headed by Gamel and LaPorta, but with Escobar, Brantley, Salome, Errecart, and Gillespie that lineup is crazy good. The Stars are a beacon of hope with the big league club struggling.
  24. I misunderstood your point. Obviously, I feel that it is crazy no one is hitting better than Theriot, but I feel pretty good that we will see a good amount of guys finish better than Theriot.
  25. I am sure I am not objective about some Cubs players. There are some who I think are good (Lee, Marmol, Zambrano, etc), some who I think are overrated (Wood, Theriot, Soriano) some who I have overrated (Lilly, Hill) and some who I think the jury is still out on (Soto, Fukudome). However, BF.net is equally hard on Brewer players as well. Sheets and Weeks come to mind as players a large group of people don't care for. But to call people not objective because we think Theriot is bad isnt really true. His numbers before the year backed it up.
