  1. Why would the twins trade gibson? Next year in that division they should really be in the hunt bc no one outside Cleveland is good.
  2. 7 games is a ton but with all the games they have left against Cleveland I guess they could stand pat. Say they both have 60 games left if the Indians just plays .500 ball at 30-30 the Twins would have to go 37-23 just to tie. The Indians play only 13 games against teams with winning records and 6 of those are against the Ray's. Hard to see them playing less than .500 ball. Twins should sell. The best thing for the GM and ownership would be to lose a couple in a row.
  3. Ugh that's the worry. His numbers are so pedestrian! We'll see, but this was in the article Could it just be that the four other teams in his division play in bottom half of the league hitting parks. Including 3 of the bottom 8? Wrigley is top 10 so what are his numbers more likely to look like? His Texas ones or his road ones?
  4. Cubs need Hamels to make up for two guys the Brewers were linked to or that fans wanted. Chatwood has been a mess. Cant pitch deep into games and walks everyone. Darvish cant get on the field and was bad when he was.
  5. If Wheeler comes fairly cheap I think he could be a really nice pick up. Dont see a huge amount of downside here but like every deal it depends on the prospects
  6. If the brewers move Burnes back to the rotation I like this move even more. With Albers returning you have Knebel, Soria, Hader and Albers. That should free up Burnes to start
  7. Yeah. Odd profile for a lottery ticket. Low velocity and old for his league. He had good numbers, but still. With as much depth as we have (and the need to clear possible 40 man spots) I'm surprised they did not go after someone else. Maybe a Derby, Harber, or even Lara could have been had. Kodi was the prize piece. Brewers probably were not giving up anything else of value. Any word if any money was part of the trade
  8. I agree, actually. But I think that those that don't want Happ feel that way because of the potential cost. As with any acquisition, it all depends on what we have to give up. Would I be thrilled sending a 20-30 organizational guy for him? Yep, and he'd help. Do I want to send a guy like Ray? Absolutely not. It all depends, and we won't know what it'll take until either Milwaukee or someone else does make the deal. Yep this one is all about price. I can't see a top 10 guy I would want to trade for him. Reports are Toronto has dropped their price significantly so that is good.
  9. I am not a huge Happ guy but those saying he isn't better than what we have are just looking at era. His whip is better than any starter not named Peralta and he stikesouts more guys. He is definitely better than a few of our starters
  10. Nice at bat Saladino...man 6-8 is brutal on this team
  11. Do any of those exist in this market? Outside of Degrom? I mean Happ is pretty good but there isn't much out there
  12. Yelich is now second behind only Matt Kemp for ops among qualified OFers in the NL. Add in his steals too I am not sure what else we could want. Anyone who watches him can see how pure his swing is. He has great at bats, worst the count, and hits the ball very hard. A few too many ground balls maybe but all in all it is hard to be disappointed
  13. Random question. Does a hit by pitch count toward obp the same as a walk? I should know this
  14. The Cubs signed Chatwood for 3 years 38 million Arrieta has the best numbers but that contract is huge. Chacin was way less risk and has been almost as good. I stand corrected on Chatwood. However I'd argue that Chacin has overall better numbers than Arrieta. He has better H9, HR9, K9, FIP, WHIP, with more innings pitched. They have the same K/BB. Arrieta has slightly better ERA and BB9. Thanks for looking at the numbers deeper than I did. Chacin is easily the best pitcher signing and could be the best overall pitcher. All at 2 years 15 million. Well done Stearns! Could be argued he signed the best pitcher, best or second best position player and made the best trade. Not a bad off season

  16. Only sp I would trade for is degrom. None of the others seem like a big enough change. I would like Dozier but not Escobar. Would rather see arcia called up. Saladino becomes super sub Lastly kick the tires on Ramos at catcher.
  17. Because outside of shaw who are we going to out there? I mean honestly we are batting Broxton first. Right now I feel like we have 3 mlb hitters right now. Yelich Cain shaw. Shaw should bat clean up I guess. But after that it is saladino Perez or kratz....
  18. Yelich was due a bad night but wish he would have done it during the blowout yesterday
  19. Kratz may be slow but at least he had two productive outs. Still don't want him starting games but there is that
  20. How many extra pitches is Saladino responsible for? His two errors extended two innings
  21. If free pass means people are saying he has been perfect then sure that is wrong. But I haven't seen that at all. Mostly it is people who think he is doing a great job by taking a team that had a bad mlb team and poor farm system and built a playoff contender and a top tier farm system. He has made mistakes. He has made a lot more really good moves
  22. Nope. I could see the Brewers seeing something in Archer that they think they could tweak to help him turn the corner but I am not giving up Huira for a guy with the risks of Archer.
