  1. Eww, one of the comments included this: It may not surprise any of us that the commenter's avatar is a Yankees logo.
  2. I'm afraid I don't have advice for either of you, but if FTJ calls a heating company for help, and continues to describe the furnace as "Yosty," I hope he records the call so we can hear the reaction.
  3. The hawing Thanksgiving dinner isn't until Saturday, so I guess I haven't felt quite in holiday mode yet. I am thankful to not be working in retail, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. See, now, I'm sure this makes me completely old-school, but that's the song that makes me think "Packers." I'm not saying I'd go back to following the NFL if they played it instead of Bang the Drum, but I wouldn't mind if they did. They still played the fight song in the early 1990s, when I lived in Green Bay. I knew someone who was an alternate in the Packer Band.
  5. Obviously it's the night before a major holiday, otherwise I'd never be the first to post here that it has been snowing lightly in Madison for the last few hours. Looking from our house, it's not sticking to anything except the windshield of our neighbor's vehicle. Still, I don't know that I'd prefer to be out driving tonight.
  6. 1992casey's post reminds me to ask: how did "Bang The Drum All Day" become the Packers' TD-celebrating song? Just because it sounds kind of celebratory? It's not like it's a song about football. Also, is Wikipedia's statement true that WKLH plays "Bang the Drum All Day" every Friday at 5:00? Finally, a mildly horrifying factoid that is better suited for lambeauleap: there's a Wikipedia entry for 4th and 26.
  7. Two things are bugging me this afternoon: 1. Hard drives that begin to fail nine days after installation. Until the replacement comes I'm either working with a high pitched hum or I don't have computer access at all. Lenovo FTL. 2. All the patrons who keep coming into the library today. Go home already! Beat the traffic!
  8. Oh, I became a fan of "Bruiser" at the scrimmage. I think my 3-year-old nephew will look like him in 15 years.
  9. I only hope STL nation can sleep easy tonight.
  10. I've heard more than one reference to House Party when Evans is on the court at the Kohl Center. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. In October, our ticket rep thought 2011, but he was not speaking in any official capacity.
  12. 27 of 28 first place votes. I wonder who the hater was.
  13. 2009 was the first real "down" year for the Brewers since I became a site staff member, and now that I've seen how much harder it is to maintain interest when expectations are high and results are not...I'd like to add to joshua's thread by giving a tip of the cap to those of you who still frequented the IGTs and chat room (the latter, when it was working).
  14. I don't remember for sure, but I firmly believe our non-metro household contributed enough to the Brewers to cover a few metro residents.
  15. Well...we have seats for that game behind and just to the right of the Duke bench, so if he fulfills his Craigslist dream, we'll probably see it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  16. Dang it, you're right. I'm thinking like it's still 2009. (Maybe because at the moment, it still is.) Well, I still think they can acceptably call 2010 the "40th anniversary season", in that forty years ago will have been the first season of the current iteration of the Milwaukee Brewers. That is a different way to recognize a milestone than they used to celebrate the 25th anniversary. What I wonder - and I realize this is taking the thread on a tangent - is why, in the videoboard opening montage during 2009, they referred to "FOUR DECADES OF PRIDE." It almost makes me wonder if they didn't think ahead on the "40th anniversary" thing, got too far into the 08-09 off season to be able to plan for it (maybe distracted by the postseason excitement?), and decided to insert the "four decades" statement as a small acknowledgment, while gearing up for a more prominent celebration in 2010.
  17. I'll admit, I appreciate it when "our" parking lot guy (Lee Roy, long of the Giants/Molitor lot) stops us to ask what our MPG was on each trip to Miller Park. (We have a Prius and one day in 2008, out of the blue, he asked us how we liked it.) It makes me feel that much more welcome. To Lee Roy's credit, he doesn't chat much when there's a line; but we usually arrive early enough to allow a moment. As for franchise milestones, if the Brewers are calling 2010 the "40th anniversary season," that seems reasonable. The "40th season" was 2009 (since the first season in Milwaukee was 1970). My 25th anniversary sweatshirt is dated 1994, which is consistent with labeling 2010 as the 40th anniversary. Finally, I think the 2010 Seattle series would be a fine time for some Pilots action. We could wear the Pilots caps we got at Safeco Field in 2006. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. The availability of parking near the square might depend on what else is going on in downtown Madison that night. At the Overture Center is the big holiday concert for the Madison Symphony Orchestra (link to events calendar). Because we have bus passes we hardly ever park downtown, so I don't feel like an expert, but Buckylovesbeer's suggestion to park in the stadium area and take one of the aforementioned shuttle buses sounds not all bad.
  19. Perhaps they'll sell the signage at the December sale.
  20. Either that, or Carl and Lenny lots. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Further summarization of the press release (linked here and in the lead post): The terrace level store is being renovated. The outdoor smoking area off the field level's RF corner is being upgraded (I suppose in preparation for the statewide smoking ban kicking in next July). The Milwaukee Braves Wall of Honor display in the field level concourse is being spiffed up. The Brewers' clubhouse is being repainted and recarpeted on the inside, and the entrance is being redone. The right field corner of the terrace level concourse (previously an indoor smoking area) is being remodeled into office and meeting space for Baseball Operations staff.
  21. Fans of the Brewers' Facebook page got what appears to be a sneak peek Thursday at new names for the parking lots. Those which to date have been named for non-Milwaukee teams will be renamed for Brewers/Braves players. There will still be a Brewers lot and a Braves lot. For example, the Giants lot (which I know is the general parking lot of choice for a number of us here at Brewerfan) will become the Molitor lot. http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs091.snc3/15844_180924439075_7678514075_2741397_3572381_n.jpg From the Facebook album: The Uecker lot is the new name for either the Mets or Dodgers lot (I think Mets; we hardly ever park there). The terrace level store will also be renovated. Here's hoping it will continue to have a discount section - which I know has been enjoyed and utilized by me and other bf.net members. Presumably a brewers.com press release will be forthcoming. Edit: And here it is.
  22. Just tell me you'll discourage her from rooting for Jack Wilson.
  23. He hit the pole! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. If George Kottaras helps me continue to forget Jorge Fabregas, this transaction will not have been made in vain.
