  1. PDQ also has two stations across from each other on Fish Hatchery Road, just north of the Beltline. Although burniebrewer's theory is plausible, I always figured it was more to accommodate drivers who, like stalton, want to stop there but don't want to cross traffic. At these Fish Hatch and Mineral Point locations, 'not wanting to cross traffic' is no excuse to bypass the PDQ.
  2. I'll always remember Jesse Chavez for that grand slam he gave up on September 25, 2008. Sigh.
  3. I voted too. Good luck. Maui seems to have a lot of poor votes too. Boo on the haters.
  4. Woah, ice cream goal tonight and then some! In the postgame radio interviews, Brian Posick is asking each player he interviews what his Halloween costume is. Scott Gudmandson is going to be a Baywatch lifeguard; Jordy Murray, Derek Lee and Justin Schultz are going together as a mariachi band. Is anyone else who follows both Badger hockey and the Brewers tempted to do a double take when hearing "Derek Lee"? (even though it's spelled differently from the Cub)
  5. Not saying I don't believe you...but if incoming mail is fine and outgoing mail is getting out, where does the problem lie?
  6. Between illnesses and scheduled absences, I've been covering for others all week at the library...and now the Saturday person is sick. If I have to do her shift, which would consist of my spending all of Saturday being asked questions I don't usually have to field and for the most part won't be able to answer, I will be quite bugged.
  7. Wait. What if "some guy named Chuck" is Chuck Norris?
  8. You wish him well (add 'in that you wish him no specific harm' if he's into the Simpsons).
  9. Fixed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. I'll admit, I've almost always (except for 1982, when I was new to baseball) preferred a pitcher's duel to a slugfest, and in that sense, this game is OK. Edit: well, was OK.
  11. As I rode the bus home tonight, what came up on my iPod but "Your Love." It took all I could muster not to break out in song on the Metro.
  12. Now there's a sign of a long-time BF-netter.
  13. Our neighbor the journalism professor says "Phillies in 6." He repeated it several times, so take what you will from that.
  14. Robin19 found an appropriate usage for "sneak peak." Kudos. Most other uses are misguided and should be "sneak peek" instead.
  15. Wow, that is fortunate. Carbonation started to bug me too, about 10 years ago when I had this rotten six-week cold that turned into atypical pneumonia. By the time I had big horse pill antibiotics, I didn't want anything but water to wash them down. I can't imagine what the correlation would be, but that's when my aversion to carbonation began. Since then I'll drink soda if it's all that's available, but if I'm at a venue that offers lemonade or iced tea or non-carbonated soft drinks, I'll opt for that most every time.
  16. ESPN Classic showed Game 6 of the 1993 World Series tonight. I literally gasped when I got a visual reminder of what Mitch Williams' uber-mullet looked like then. http://thesportshernia.typepad.com/blog/images/2007/05/18/mitch_williams_game_6_worldseries_3.jpg Dude's trying to hide a squirrel under his cap? It's not working; I can see the tail! On a less horrifying point, I was pleasantly surprised, then wistful, when I heard the relatively understated call of Joe Carter's home run. Imagine if that had been Joe Buck. Oops, back to horrifying.
  17. PC or Mac? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. I am among those who cannot do the Dew. In high school I just wanted something to drink one night, and consumed maybe 8-10 oz. of the Dew from my brother's 2-liter bottle. I was up all night, unwillingly. That was when I realized caffeine and I are not a great mix. I have to limit caffeine to noon or earlier, if I want a chance at a normal night's sleep.
  19. I suppose they can't deliver to Madison. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Good luck to him, though.
  20. Guy Smiley. And I miss your avatar already.
  21. Oh, I know it's due to the WBC (the same event that allowed for a spring training game on my birthday in February). So is this the longest season ever? in terms of early start and late finish?
  22. Whether your stance on the 2009 World Series is "yeah!" or "meh," it's about to become part of baseball's historical record. The intended schedule (all games on FOX): Game 1: Wednesday, October 28, 6:57 PM CDT (Phillies at Yankees) Game 2: Thursday, October 29, 6:57 PM CDT (Phillies at Yankees) Game 3: Saturday, October 31, 6:57 PM CDT (Yankees at Phillies) Game 4: Sunday, November 1, 7:20 PM CST (Yankees at Phillies) And if necessary... Game 5: Monday, November 2, 6:57 PM CST (Yankees at Phillies) Game 6: Wednesday, November 4, 6:57 PM CST (Phillies at Yankees) Game 7: Thursday, November 5, 6:57 PM CST (Phillies at Yankees) November baseball. Something seems wrong with that phrase.
  23. I guess STL is opting for dingers over the terrifying truth. At least you can't say they turn their back on users. (Edited to refine Simpsons paraphrase)
  24. Sorry to break the tipping/teacher-education arc, but...it's "sneak peek", NOT "sneak peak"!
  25. I'll try to remember to check the season seat holder guide for 2009 this weekend. If the 2009 practice isn't clear from the guide, I'll shoot an email to our ticket rep. I can verify that having a fan's choice package in 2007 and 2008 did not preclude us from being offered a full set of postseason tickets. Edit: Here are the statements on postseason tickets from the 2009 season seat holder handbook: This information is almost the same as appears in the 2008 season seat holder handbook, except the 2008 handbook does not include the part about partial plan postseason tickets being in the terrace level. There is no mention in either handbook about plans smaller than 20 games. Though it's not mentioned in the handbook, 2008 partial plan customers also had the option to purchase a "mini plan" which had one game in each postseason series. Mini plan seats were all in Terrace Reserved and were assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Perhaps that is what BrewersSuperCollector remembered. It would be interesting to know how many mini-plans were sold vs. full strips. The terrace level statement in the 2009 handbook makes me wonder what postseason seats we would have been assigned, had the players put the organization in the position of asking for 2009 postseason deposits. I don't mean to sound jaded, but if I'd had a field level 20 pack and a long customer history and were offered terrace seats for the postseason, I'd be kind of peeved (though you can't say there was no warning, as the handbooks are mailed with tickets in March). It would make me wonder who is filling the field, loge and club sections. Anyway, unless changes are underway for 2010 - which we'll be able to confirm by spring - I would expect 20 pack customers (fan's choice or otherwise) to be eligible to buy tickets to all postseason games, ahead of the general public...provided the Brewers are fortunate enough to get there.
