  1. You could text him a "neener neener"! If I text him, he'd then have my cell phone number and based on his library conduct, he would NEVER STOP texting me.
  2. Part of me wants to contact my ex-student employee and find out whether he stayed to the end today or not. The rest of me knows better than to prolong contact. Thanks, Brewers.
  3. That STL loving student employee who just finished working for me on Friday? He's at this game before he moves to his new job. How petty is it if I'd especially like the Brewers to get this game? (And if you are/were in 429 and he bugs you, (1) I'm sorry and (2) let me know so I can give him a talking to.)
  4. He's gone now! And he's attending one game at MP this weekend, but it's not when we're going! #winning
  5. 1. This thread is reminding me why I more often listen than watch, if we're not at Miller Park. More shallowly: We made it through the Ann Carroll days, so most everything is gravy now, for me. (Apologies to Ann because IIRC she has since had health issues.) 2. Sophia went to high school in my neighborhood, so that's kind of cool, though we didn't move there until just after she graduated. 3. Super props to Sophia for speaking Spanish as needed in player interviews. How could that not make the players feel more at ease? 4. Trenni's still the best I've seen for Brewers sideline coverage.
  6. I decided when I was 18 that I was going to keep my surname if I ever married. I like my birth name and saw/still see no reason to give it up. As long as the persons involved in a union are in agreement on how they do surnames, it's not super important to me how they do it.
  7. My student employee who is an ardent Cardinals fan got a job offer today and has given me his two week notice. He's not a bad person, despite his MLB preference, but I'm okay with him moving on.
  8. Tuesday's game is now known as the Raptor Game.
  9. Totally separate random thought that warrants its own post: My STL fan student employee yesterday wore his Stan Musial replica jersey to work and told me it was his lucky shirt because the Cardinals had two walkoff wins over the Cubs this weekend. (I thought about asking why he was wearing it after the luck, but thought better of that.) Anyway, he said that the best part of the weekend series was that the devil magic appears to be back. Then he asked me if I'd ever heard of Cardinals Devil Magic. I answered with the coolest yes you have ever heard from anyone. So who coined that phrase? He didn't learn it from me, because I don't talk about it on the job.
  10. We approached the home field gates at about 11:50 and the lines there were not only super long but did not seem to be moving at all. (This was 10-15 minutes after the gates were to open.) So we walked over to right field, where the lines were less crazy and also appeared to have movement. Even then, it took a while to get in and especially through the bottleneck that formed immediately after the ticket scanners. Sunday giveaways do tend to bring out the once-in-a-while visiting fans, who aren't familiar with the metal detector/bag search gauntlet but DANG THEY WANT THAT LIGHTWEIGHT HOODIE or whatever. The bits of conversation I heard from the older fans ahead of us suggested to me that the Boston Store sponsorship might have held extra appeal with some. This despite the fact that (for once) there was no mention of the sponsor name on the shirts, and the coupon attached to each one will not be honored because of Boston Store's liquidation. That was kind of a metaphor for the whole day, wasn't it?
  11. It could be considered an advantage to not put any of the SP off pace. It doesn't require an immediate starting arm callup.
  12. Yeah, it's not a super low road they're taking, but I don't see value to fueling the fire further.
  13. Cue the "Yelich faces his former mates" narrative. Not that all of the Marlins he played with are still with Miami...
  14. Yeah...fingers crossed. I'm as eager as anyone to see Yelich back, but in this crappy weather (I mean, even inside MP tonight it's only going to be relatively warm), it's too easy to imagine the oblique being exacerbated and even more DL time. I'm not saying it's easy to be patient, though.
  15. What was the context of the email? We get weekly emails during the season from our ticket rep, but the one today didn't have that language in it. Some SSH emails go only to my SO because his is the name on the account, but he hasn't reported receiving anything like this. Not asking to doubt you, only out of curiosity.
  16. Augh, NMF, that's a solid tale of woe. But don't take it as karmic comeuppance for having enjoyed your actual vacation.
  17. Haha, if you can hear it over the horrific CHC fan chants and songs, then we're all in trouble (maybe me especially). But that'll be my new strategy: if they get in my face, I'll just cough or sneeze on them.
  18. I had a hot dog on Monday and it was different than in past years; a little redder and a little longer. It was tasty, though that could have been because I was pretty hungry by then. The Johnsonville wrap around my dog was inside out, which makes me think it's not a Johnsonville product. Hebrew National sounds plausible, but their name doesn't appear anywhere I've looked yet. Glad you got to Tuesday's game, JimH5. I hope you couldn't hear my ugly cough from across the section.
  19. I don't know if this perfectly fits your wish, but Pat Hughes did a series of CDs on Baseball Voices, and there's one for Uecker: https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Uecker-Mr-Baseball-Voices/dp/B00SSQ5WQ0
  20. I realize that it's a difficult choice for too many workers. In this instance (which I probably should have specified above, but I have a cold so cut me some slack), the colleague who's been ill has ample leave time available. We were running on a skeleton crew last week because it was UW-Madison's spring break, but if he'd said he wasn't feeling well, we could have worked things out so he could go home and keep his germs to himself.
  21. What's bugging me today is coworkers who come to work while sick, which this week has resulted in my catching a cold JUST AS the season is getting underway.
  22. Today's the first time I entered the Brewers' lineup in a 2018 IGT and holy mother of secret sauce, you should have seen my face as I typed Thames, Yelich, Cain, Shaw... Go Raptor Go!
  23. Rain has put a halt to that. Is there more of a (first world) ultimate bummer than to have Opening Day rained out?
  24. After a 2017 hiatus, Zak Thomas of the Brewers' ticket office has lobbied to get a Brewerfan link to ticket discounts for select games! https://www.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/specials/brewer-fan-net or just type brewers.com/BrewerFan in your browser. Our online community is one of just a dozen organizations receiving this access (the rest of the dozen are businesses), and at least 200 tickets have to be sold across the 12 dates offered in order to make the Brewerfan discount possible beyond 2018. So give it a look! There are even some CHC games (you decide how appealing that is ) as well as some weekend games. For questions about this opportunity, contact Zak at 414-902-4657. You can also PM him right here on Brewerfan, where he's ZT@MP. Thanks again, Zak, for your attention and offer!
  25. Well.....you don't anymore.
