  1. Some of you are familiar with my extensive history of turning my back (firmly) on Brewers closers who have let me down. For some reason, I never felt that way about Derrick. I'm truly sorry to hear of yet another setback for him (while also wondering how long this might have existed and how many questions it might answer about his performance). This makes me feel extra lucky that we were in attendance when he got his last major league save (April 23 vs. Philadelphia). That's a moment I'll remember when I think of him. Thanks for the memories, Derrick, and good luck.
  2. Aaah, thanks for that memory. Now I have to also hope that everyone is still healthy and intact by the end of the series. (Even Mota, just because I'm good-hearted deep down inside.)
  3. The White Horse Inn closed two years ago. I remember this because a person who was working for me at the time had a wedding reception planned there for mid-August. I saw the blurb about its closing in the newspaper in July, and that was actually how he found out about it. Fortunately, they got his party booked elsewhere (into the Overture Center, in fact) and did still cater the event.
  4. I'll echo two moments listed above: Pitching - that CC 9th inning thrown vs. the Reds on July 13. A 1-2-3 inning in July that leaves me almost in tears is a big deal. Hitting - Ryan's home run vs. St. Louis on July 24. Sweeping the Cardinals at Busch was uber-sweet, and might prove significant in the end. RickieWeeks23's got a point with the Branyan home run, as it brought pure, if fleeting, jubilation to the crowd that night. But since it was not a game winner (not Russell's fault) and not vs. a division rival, I think it falls just short of being "the" moment. So, Ross, what are your other 20 pack dates? It sounds like we should pencil those in now as being big games.
  5. Dear Brewers: Please bring your 'A' game tonight. Thank you. Lots of love, hawing
  6. If you're a UW-Madison student or employee, or a Wisconsin Union member, you could bowl at Union South. If your date could start in late afternoon, go to the Wisconsin Historical Museum on the Square. There's a Chris Farley exhibit that wouldn't take terribly long to see. The museum isn't open evenings, though. Really, though, as long as the weather cooperates, I think Bikeage77 is onto something with his mini golf suggestion. Since I've lived in Madison for most of the last 23 years, you'd think I'd have some better ideas, but I haven't had a "first date" in almost 19 years, and we went out of town for that one (to, surprise surprise, County Stadium).
  7. My slate of games is pretty crazy, especially since we don't live in Milwaukee. April 5 (MIL 5, SF 4) April 6 (MIL 7, SF 0) April 21 (STL 4, MIL 3) April 23 (MIL 5, PHI 4) April 25 (FLA 3, MIL 0) May 11 (MIL 5, STL 3) May 15 (LAD 7, MIL 2) May 27 (MIL 3, ATL 2) May 30 (MIL 5, HOU 1) June 1 (MIL 10, HOU 1) June 2 (MIL 4, ARI 3) June 3 (MIL 7, ARI 1) June 14 (MIN 9, MIL 4) June 18 (MIN 5, TOR 4) June 20 (BAL 8, MIL 5) June 22 (MIL 7, BAL 3) July 6 (MIL 11, PIT 6) July 9 (COL 8, MIL 3) July 10 (MIL 11, COL 1) July 11 (CIN 6, MIL 5) July 13 (MIL 3, CIN 2) July 27 (HOU 11, MIL 6) That puts me at 14-8, and I don't remember how many games are left on our packages.
  8. losing 2 games to Houston is better than losing 2 to the Cards. I'm going to side with obobo55 here. That STL sweep was sweet enough to take away some of the sting of even today's game. And wibadgers23 beat me to the observation I was going to make: No Suppan vs. the Cubs.
  9. Excellent choice of shirt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Would anyone who got one of today's (Italian) keychains consider trading it for a Bratwurst keychain from 2006? By 12:15 today, the entrance we took into MP was out of the giveaway keychains (adding a tiny insult to the overall injury of that game experience). Please contact me by PM if you are interested. Thanks. Edit: I've found a trading partner. Thanks to those who sent me a message.
  11. Sweet merciful crap, Ned. Pull the freaking plug! Wow, Peavey, this is not unlike what I was saying to myself, as I watched this unfold in person; only what I was actually saying was less forum friendly. It boggles my mind, how someone who is regularly portrayed as a "players' manager" can let one of his players twist in the wind like Yost did to Suppan today; and to a lesser extent McClung. But even as we sat through the rest of the innings, I realized that by the time we got home today, everything I was thinking would already have been said here.
  12. I'm seeing more Brewers stuff on people just around Madison. When I bought a Hart all-star shirt at Kohl's Thursday night, the checker there said "ooh, Corey!" and added excitedly that she was going to Friday's game. Also, in the grocery store line today, the checker took note of my Brewers shirt, and asked when tonight's game started and who'd be pitching. It's like the excitement from the beginning of 2007, only this feels better.
  13. There were a few times during the series this week when I thought, geez, Tony, you might wish you had some of these guys in the 13th inning.
  14. [faqborder][faqhead]BREWERFAN.NET Trading Post Rules[/faqhead] The Brewerfan.net Trading Post Forum exists to allow members to seek or offer items for either trade or sale. Please note the following: [list-sp] Brewerfan.net takes no fee for transactions conducted on this forum, does not provide any statement about the quality, authenticity, or reliability of items offered or transactions made here, and assumes no responsibility for the outcome of transactions made here. Do not offer game tickets for more than face value, as printed on the ticket. Fees incurred by the original buyer may be included in an asking price. We do not consider this forum to be a storefront for members to make large profits off other members. Members may post links to auctions on eBay or similar sites, for tickets or memorabilia. Please note that once a transaction leaves Brewerfan.net, it is not subject to our trading post rules, and Brewerfan.net assumes no responsibility for its outcome. Collectible items vary in relative value, but please keep your asking prices reasonable. If you question the value of an offer, contact the offering party via private message. In a related vein, remember that one poster's trash may be another poster's treasure. There is bound to be something offered in this forum that you wouldn't choose for yourself; when that happens, don't rip on the thread. If you don't like the merchandise involved, ignore the thread. Please honor any conditions placed on a transaction by the offering party. For example, if a member offers free game tickets with the request that they not be resold, don't accept the tickets and then resell them. Copies of copyrighted material (including television and radio broadcasts) cannot legally be distributed without the expressed written consent of their originators, so we cannot allow them to be sold, traded, or distributed here. Posts that ask about unauthorized copies of such material put Brewerfan.net at risk of cease-and-desist action by MLB or other copyright owners — so don't even bring up the topic. If you start a Trading Post thread, make your thread title clear. Don't post something generic like "Anybody got extras?" when you could say, "Seeking a blue Gantner bobblehead." If you have a long list of items to sell or trade, then a title like "My Bobblehead Trade List" is OK. Do not post or publicly distribute another person's non-Brewerfan contact information (such as real name, email or postal address). Please keep this information reserved for private messages. Please don't bump threads in this forum, unless it's to add new information. If your offer drew no interest, you may want to consider another source to promote it.[/list-sp] Violations of Trading Post rules are subject to the general disciplinary system of the Brewerfan.net Fan Forum (see our Fan Forum Etiquette). Thank you for your compliance, and enjoy the forum![/faqborder]
  15. Brewers, Brewers, keep turning up the heat.
  16. Just for the record, we have some non-Packer fans, and even non-NFL fans.
  17. If there was anything to be learned from last season's race, or from a bunch of see-saw games to date this year, it might be that making assumptions is ill-advised. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif This year's race is far from decided; and diesmitty, we know how you feel tonight.
  18. Looks like the Brewers and Marlins delivered for our birthday fellows. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Happy Birthday (again) Brian and colbyjack!
  20. Oh, I'll be that nerd. Here are the results of the Brewers' July 26 games since Brewerfan was established in 2001: 2001: July 26 was an off day. 2002: W 10-3 vs. Colorado (Sheets over Starck) 2003: L 3-7 at Colorado (Tsao over Obermueller) 2004: L 1-3 vs. Cubs (Clement over Santos) 2005: W 7-2 vs. Arizona (Eveland over Webb) 2006: L 4-8 vs. Pittsburgh (Maholm over Capuano) 2007: L 5-6, 10 innings, at Cincinnati (Burton over Cordero) I think this makes tonight's game even more of a "must win." For the Automator! and colbyjack and Mat!
  21. I hope there's a Gyro Topper involved, Brian.
  22. Yay for July 26, and both Brian and colbyjack! The least the Brewers could do is win for you.
  23. Dude, you got it all wrong. You expect this kind of crap from a Craftsman. We're talking Lawn-Boy here. I mean, no wonder he was mad.
  24. Estrada was playing for the Braves then (and got whiffed by Big Ben more than once that game, if I recall correctly). He was definitely the last struck-out batter of the day for Ben, and argued with the umpire over some of the calls in his last at-bat. I don't remember that at all from the original game, but when it was re-run as a Brewers Classic (by which time Carne was a Brewer) it jumped out at me.
