  1. Not to mention, it only makes it easier for the Wisconsin media to focus on football, and for a lot of fans to make the same mental switch.
  2. C'mon, Brewers... http://www.sxc.hu/pic/m/l/li/linuxgeek/471235_reset_button.jpg
  3. Corey Hart is not only number 1 on the roster, he's number one in my heart. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Beyond that, I'm reluctant to rank the others as 2, 3, 4, and 5, but the others are: Hardy - I had a J.J. jersey tee in 2005, before his popularity really took off. Braun - a real possibility to be the next "franchise" player, not just a talented guy who uses Milwaukee to launch his career. Branyan - who won me over for good with his game tying blast on June 14. And a tie between Salomon Torres and Carlos Villanueva. I've been rooting for CV for a while now (even have a jersey tee), but joepepsi's comments earlier in this thread said nicely how I feel about Sal. He really seems like a stand-up kind of guy, which I appreciate. CC would be next on the list. Edit: Bring Back the Stein - this is beautiful.
  4. Don't let the freakish leg kick of Mr. Arroyo intimidate you, Brewers!
  5. Yeah, at least this time the pitcher who dominated the Brewers has done OK vs. other teams too. I found Saturday's game more frustrating, when the guy with the 7+ ERA was doing the pwning (for the first six innings, at least).
  6. Did he really say "dadgum," or were you just making the quote forum friendly?
  7. I think there's something to this. Ben has been regarded as 'the man' since he made that cameo appearance at County Stadium in September 2000...up until that first weekend of July when CC was acquired. The Brewers seem careful to say at every opportunity that they have two aces, but CC is getting most of the attention and fan-love. That's bound to require some degree of mental adjustment. Maybe we should do a "Let's Go Sheeter" chant during Ben's next start at MP.
  8. Now, if only the Brewers could capitalize off a botched first-inning double play...
  9. I'd settle for a weekly start for Mike. There's no reason to run Jason into the ground.
  10. This win is the first on the road to recovery. Thank you, Atlanta. Special tip of the cap to Chuck James. (Edited...I think I need some sleep!)
  11. I don't feel particularly bad for Atlanta, but if they can't hit Mota we'll know they're struggling.
  12. Living up to my now-cemented dork reputation, for every game we attend, I note the game attendance and season attendance total on the ticket stub, which is another reason why I have faith in my data. Of course, now I'll have to recheck it tonight, maybe just because I can. http://www.uniquities.co.uk/acatalog/ts-nerd.jpg
  13. That LOLcat strongly resembles one of our cats. But we don't have blinds like that for him to get caught in.
  14. I consider it a silver lining that this thread keeps getting posts.
  15. We have a Brewers wall calendar hanging in the kitchen. This morning I eagerly flipped up the July page to find this guy replacing Bill Hall as the photo of the month... http://yogibrewer.mlblogs.com/my_weblog/images/estradaslam.jpg Carne could still be on the team; hence, things could be worse. Also, when I did a google image search for "things could be worse", this appeared: http://a0.vox.com/6a00c2251c04b6f21900cd9704b2e84cd5-200pi
  16. Actually, the Journal Sentinel reports a total this morning of 2,042,444 - which is the same figure I have on the 2008 attendance spreadsheet I dorkily maintain at home. So that's 957,556 fans to get in 26 games, an average of 36,829. I point this out not to nitpick on 999555999, but because the 2008 Brewers' season draw to July 31 comes within 20,000 of the full-season attendance for 2004 (2,062,382). And I remember being moderately excited that they broke 2 million that year.
  17. It's tough to be the minority for a change, but just like in baseball--you can't win them all! If I attend Brewer games in other cities, I expect to be in the minority. The problem with series like the one just completed is that Brewer fans wind up being the minority in Miller Park.
  18. Among regular season months, I'd rather see the Brewers peak in September than in July.
  19. I propose a moment of forum silence for the Brewers fans who are leaving MP today. . . . Thank you.
  20. This is what the with-it kids call being pwned...right?
  21. Thanks for your post, RedFlash2. As maddening as the last couple of nights have been for most of us, it's good to be reminded that non-tool Cub fans do exist. (I might personally prefer no trash talking to begin with, but that's probably my XX chromosomes talking.)
  22. Dear Brewers: Could you just be competitive? Please? hawing
  23. What's bugging me tonight is the dark side of living in a college town - too many good people leave.
  24. Among the "4 seat full season" packages is the terrace ticket treat (or whatever the promotion is called), which ought to cost quite a bit less.
  25. I wasn't at Monday's game, but after each of the last 2-3 losses we've seen at MP, the PA system has immediately begun playing "Free Falling" by Tom Petty (jumping right to the refrain, no less). Am I the only one who thinks that's a bad idea, in a foreshadowing sense? I'd email the Brewers about it, but I'm not sure whom to ask.
