  1. chipper jones retired and immediately turned into an old man.
  2. All the rest of this stuff is debatable, but Khris Davis is the 'premier slugger in the game"???? Stanton. Judge. Trout. Betts Arenado Jose Ramirez on and on...... all of whom do more than JUST hit homeruns and hit .240 and play awful defense.
  3. Game threads are notoriously "what have you done for me lately" crowds. Such as "what have you done for me today".
  4. This has to be a "we need some immediate depth" move. I just have a feeling Albers will be DL'd (I really don't think they'll DFA him), but like others have said, there's plenty of in house options that will be better. They might be thinking Johnson can work with him and unlock something, but man, that's a stretch. It's late in the season and we need every single win we can get. It's kinda late to be tinkering. Just me thinking out loud maybe.
  5. Guys. We know there's a lot of "knee jerk" posts in the game threads, and that's fine to a large degree. If you post something that gets replaced by asterisks, you've activated the cuss filter, and that part of the TOS is very much still going to be enforced in game threads, just like everything else. Been editing a LOT of posts for cuss/curse words lately. Let's watch that please.
  6. Uecker is in rare form tonight. 2nd inning and he's already cookin'.
  7. This is my major gripe about Counsell. He saves relievers for situations that may never occur. We were losing a game in SF by one run, and brought in Albers, while keeping Soria, Jeffress, and Hader all in reserve. The Brewers scored later in that game after Albers gave up 3 runs, putting the game out of reach. If you're ONLY going to use those best relievers when you're ahead/tied, you're basically saying you're punting whenever you're down. It's just a restrictive and dumb strategy (IMO of course)
  8. Yup it was Foxx in 38. In the 1940s, Ted Williams accomplished each of these things in different seasons: hit .400 Win triple crown Win triple crown Win MVP Win MVP Kill Nazis Kill Nazis Kill Nazis Not to nitpick, but I'ma nitpick: Williams was in the Marine Corps. They didn't fight Nazis. Yeah.... Williams fought in the pacific theater. But I mean.....either way.
  9. Yup it was Foxx in 38. In the 1940s, Ted Williams accomplished each of these things in different seasons: hit .400 Win triple crown Win triple crown Win MVP Win MVP Kill Nazis Kill Nazis Kill Nazis Came back in '46 after the war like he didn't miss a beat. Jimmie Foxx put up some spectacularly gaudy numbers in the 30's. 4 seasons with an OPS over 1.150
  10. Fred Lynn yes, still considered (by me) to be the only Rookie to win the MVP. Ichiro was not really a rookie. Bobby Doerr no, the 1950s winner was Jackie Jensen in 1958 I would have never ever guessed Jackie Jensen. Obscure.
  11. There's no way Ted Williams didn't win an MVP in the 40's. I'm going to guess Jimmie Foxx in the 30's. Probably 38 when he clubbed 50 dingers, and hitting 50 was something only him and Babe Ruth did. 50's..... I'm not sure.
  12. How about we talk about the game and get off the other posters. Thanks.
  13. In July the Brewers suffered an 8 game losing streak, endured a very strong push from the Cubs, and they're still tied for first exiting the month.
  14. How about we just go back to the old less complicated way, if the catcher is in your way then knock him out of your way. If the catcher doesnt want to get knocked over dont stand on the plate or in the baseline Because the old way was dumb. I really never got that. You slide into 2nd. You slide into third. But if you are coming into home plate, you destroy the catcher like a LB taking out a wide receiver running a crossing route with his eyes closed. Never really got why that was. "But he's wearing a chest protector!"
  15. Is it Moose or is it Mouse? I really need to know. Guy's been a Brewer for less than a week and I see frequent use of both terms. Let's figure this out as a team.
  16. Trea Turner and Sean Newcomb both have now had offencive tweets from when they were teenagers dug up and resurfaced. Newcomb on the night he took a no-hitter into the ninth inning. This might sound conspiratorial, but someone or some organization of people who need a life is performing some kind of a tactical hit with the release of these tweets. I'm not in any way shape or form condoning what these guys are saying when they were teenagers, and this more than ever should bring some awareness to how we should be careful with how we choose to use our words especially on social media platforms... with that being said the timed release of these tweets it's just some shady business.
