Coming into today we didn't have a single starter with an era over 4. Maybe the advanced metrics don't support that they're great starters but the performance has been pretty solid all the way around. It might also be said that we shouldn't continue to expect these performances but when I see things like Guerra is trash and so and so is a bum, I definitely think those comments are borne more out of frustration because these guys have really performed pretty well all season.
I mean, I cheer when I'm at a Brewers game and they're doing something exciting. I don't really let the bad player previous games really keep me from being excited about great things that happened on that particular day.
I was curious if this was true or not. The lowest average for a batting title list in the entirety of the two thousands was Justin Morneau in 2014 with a 319 batting average. There hasn't been any other batting Titleist in the last 20 years with an average below 326
Not to mention the lost 2nd round draft pick and coinciding draft bonus pool money. For a team that has seemingly lived a charmed existence in recent decades, this signing turned out to be one really poor decision. The team that truly lucked out here is the Rockies by virtue of Holland tuning down their $17.4 million qualifying offer. Don't forget the 50 million they have tied up in Dexter Fowler for the next three years. It's almost August and he's hitting .181 with a .587 OPS.
If this would have happened in Chicago or St Louis or Boston or anywhere else I'm willing to bet the same thing would have happened. Also, I don't really care what people outside of Wisconsin think about wisconsinites. Let people think what they want to think they are going to anyways. Lastly you can't really control the spontaneous behavior of a crowd. And anyways what's done is done right?
Perez has been a semi-regular player going on four years now and still has no Strike Zone recognition and no situational awareness at all. The fact that this guy still starts as much as he does bothers me. Yeah yeah yeah he's versatile he has a little power, but he is really not a good baseball player other than he plays decent defense and has a little pop.
He's hitting below .200, but taking plenty of walks, so I don't have a problem with him leading off. He's got an OBP well north of .300, so leading off is actually a pretty sound decision.
Turner looks like a homeless bum with his shirt half-unbuttoned and that scraggly looking beard. I expect a bird or something to pop out of that gnarly thing.
We will definitely revisit the Hader debate during the first time he appears in a road game I hope it dies down faster than the Braun stuff...or else it might be brought up weekly. This is a blip on the radar compared to the Braun thing.
Baseball just keeps finding him. I remember Braun having 2 or 3 error games that seemed like 15 balls were hit to third. We could start Wes Helms and a ball wouldn’t be hit within 100 feet of him After that last error, Muncy had that look on his face like he's just over this game.
Showing support for a guy going through a rough time. Classy fan move. The only one's not ready to move on are Twitter warriors. He apologized to the fans and his team, and had one of the most exciting nights of his life ruined by this. Not real sure what other punishment he needs to endure. Showing support would be not booing the guy. Standing ovation is enthusiastic approval. I think everyone will have their own idea of what showing support is. The crowd tonight overwhelmingly decided that showing support was to stand and cheer for the guy. I'm sure some chose not to. I'll even bet some boo'd the guy.
A GREAT at bat. When Kershaw went low/inside slider on the black and low/outside slider on the black, I thought Broxton was finished. Kershaw had him right where he wanted. Mistake pitch (which Kershaw doesn't make) up and away for the triple.
