  1. It's only 7:00 local time, that is Wisconsin level drinking to already think going on the field is a good idea Or other Colorado recreations as suggested by LePay. Um...... I suspect if someone's blazed, they aren't going to feel like RUNNING. They'll be sitting in their seat and eating nachos and hotdogs.
  2. When you throw soft garbage, you really have to place it better than "right down the middle"
  3. OK, it was still stupid considering Cain was standing right there and wasn't complaining at all. Why? They don't burn a challenge. What does it hurt to ask? The replay umps blew a call in Cincinnati the other day on a pickoff play when the Cinci runner was clearly safe, and they called him out. Maybe there's only a 1% chance they call that a GR double instead of a homer, but if you're not burning a challenge, why not ask?
  4. Man...... I sure wish some of our guys would look at that approach Arenado took there, instead of just swinging out of their shoes every pitch.
  5. If this doesn't (thankfully) close the door on any further talk of Braun playing third base, I don't know what will.
  6. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/columnists/gary-damato/2018/05/11/damato-time-isnt-right-becky-hammon-coach-bucks/599002002/ I can't even begin to wrap my head around how dumb and wrong D'amato's reasons for not hiring Becky Hammon are. She's not my first (or even 2nd choice), but the actual reason this dope says she shouldn't be hired are so stupid, it's... sad that people still think this way in 2018, but not surprising.
  7. Yeah, the Indians are in a division that 83 wins could realistically win the crown, and the Brewers are in a division that 86 wins could potentially land you in 4th....
  8. Well. Dwane Casey is available!
  9. Yadier Molina took a foul ball to the twig and berries and will be out a month or so after having to have surgery (?!?). I know I'm not supposed to cheer injury to another human being, but seriously, I can't stand Neck Tat, he's a punk, and as long as he's not fighting for his life, I don't feel bad for taking a bit of joyful glee out of this. Of course I'm sure his replacement is going to put up a .900 OPS and throw out 50% of attempted base stealers.
  10. After they reviewed and still called schebler out on the pickoff play at 2nd base the other day where he was obviously, clearly safe, im convinced theyll get it wrong anyways.
  11. Yeah, there's a huge difference between being able to shoot a 3, and being a shooter. Snell is not a shooter. He can put it up there, and he has a decent percentage, but I don't believe he fits the mold of the modern shooter in the way the game is played now. I don't know exactly what Snell actually does at this point. This roster is a mess right now. Middleton clearly fills the role of Giannis' sidekick that Parker was meant to fill. Parker is unnecessary and needs to go. As others have said, there is zero physical presence inside. Henson and Maker are ok players, but they simply can not bang with the big guys in the middle. They are decent scoring opportunists, and can both play passable defense and grab a board, but they just aren't a physical presence like you'd want out of a true center. Snell and Delevadova are just bodies. They don't draw defenders away from anyone, don't board or do anything. Dele at least plays a bit of defense, but the way this team plays, it doesn't matter, they're so disjointed and whatnot, what one guy is doing just doesn't matter. I was excited when we snagged Bledsoe. I've always liked him, and actually coveted him when he was available before. But watching him this year.. he just isn't what I thought we were getting.
  12. Being able to pick the innings and spots you use him is (as others have already said) an value that has context that goes beyond randomly being selected to pitch every five days. Unless Hader is a Clayton Kershaw, Chris Sale, or Randy Johnson, I just feel like using him *when he's needed* is more valuable than randomly having him toss 5 innings every 5 days, regardless of the actual game situation that's presented. If the Brewers score 6-7-8 runs in the first few innings in a game he starts, is his value being properly utilized? I'd argue that it's not. I love WAR. But it has it's limits. WAR assigns a value to events. It doesn't care if you hit a homerun in the 7th inning of a tie game, or the 5th inning of a blowout loss. That homerun has the same WAR value. Part of Hader's value is that he's able to be used primarily when he's needed to keep a game tied or close. WAR doesn't quantify that in any kind of way.
  13. Hasn't Andrew Miller already been doing this for the past few years? Coming in whenever the game situation calls for the "Best" reliever, and shutting down the opposing team's offense? I'm not taking anything away from CC or Hader, but I don't think this idea originated here.
  14. I'll say this about the starters (and Counsell). Looking at the game logs, we've had exactly three starts that have gone 100 pitches. Counsell has done a good job limiting opposing teams looks at his starters, and letting his bullpen lock down games. When your starters aren't going into a lineup a third and definitely not a fourth time through, they're just going to be more effective. Using relievers for multiple innings is effective, and CC has been more willing to do that (as have many managers) This is the new way the game is played, and Counsell is getting that. We didn't need a TOR starter as much as we needed a revamped bullpen, and not only did we get one, we got one on the cheap.
  15. As just pointed out in the optimism thread, the Marlins just took 2 outta 3 in LA. Bad teams are still going to win 65-70 games every year. Sweeps are hard to get, even against bad teams. The Brewers are playing exceptionally well right now, and are getting really good pitching. Counsell (dare I say it) is managing pretty well right now. He's pulling his starters before they get to the melt-down stage and letting his lights-out bullpen handle games for him.
