  1. I'd love to know what Braun was jaw-jacking about all the way around the bases, because he did not shut up from the time he left the batters box until he was rounding third. He was fired UP.
  2. I get it. But this will only continue towards me in the future. You guys warned me. But when it comes at me, you tell me I should block them. That's fair? If you're going to clutter up a thread with complaints about mod actions, or perceived inactions, instead of taking it to a mod via PM, you're going to run into problems. You said what was on your mind, take it up with a mod via PM, or let it go at this point. Thanks.
  3. Just read on espn. His career was winding down in the 80s when I was a kid but I still remember le grand orange well.
  4. Yelich will only get about one off day a month and they're not paying Cain $80 million over 4 years to sit once a week, at least not this year. Yelich will start 155 games and Cain 150. Cain has played over 140 games just one in his career. Depth behind him is important. Cain has had some injury issues to be sure, but I think the point being made is that when healthy, he won't be sitting once a week.
  5. I think for some folks it's definitely partly nostalgia, and he even said "because I like him". I think (and maybe I'm mis-characterizing other's thoughts) is that the "sad" part is that people are sad that Yo no longer has the stuff to get people out and be a contributing part of the Brewers, even in a reduced/pen capacity. At least that's my take on it.
  6. What are you talking about man!? http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/6218.png&w=350&h=254
  7. I'm not a bandwagon jumper ever, but this is kind of neat watching them run all the way to the final four.
  8. I don't think that is what the poster intended. He was showing how well Chacin threw the ball last year in over 90% of the starts he made. That is a great stat for us to keep in mind because if he can repeat that, he will be a very good #3 in our rotation. Here's my point though. The guy is what he is. when you start cherry picking stats it becomes an exercise in making someone look like what you want them to be. You can do this in baseball with almost any player. You can take relievers and remove their three or four worst appearances and make them into a 1.5 era guy. Everyone is guilty of it to some degree or another. Baseball stats are very volatile, especially in small samples , and single seasons are small samples , so if you remove a small sample size that doesn't support the conclusion you want to come to it's very easy to support the argument you want to make. There's a large sample of statistical data that shows that the guy is what he is. And again I'm not disappointed that we got him, he's an alright guy to have in the back of your rotation.
  9. If you cherry-pick away 10% of anybody's worst games they're going to look better. The Brewers missed the playoffs by exactly one game last year, so cherry picking away three tremendously awful starts doesn't do anybody any favors. That being said I still like the addition of Chacin, I'm just personally not a fan of cherry picking in this context.
  10. There's absolutely no indication that Cobb wanted to, or would come to Milwaukee. Fans always think "we could have matched that offer" or thinks it's a simple matter of tacking on a million dollars more. Maybe it would have taken ten million more to move him off the east coast and come to the midwest, we honestly don't know, unless he comes out and says so, or Stearns does, but I'm guessing that doesn't happen. Maybe the Brewers had a similar offer, and he wanted to stay out east. Maybe the Brewers are cheap, and were somewhere around 3/42. We don't know, so it's dangerous to assume anything.
  11. This was probably the best 3 minutes of my day.
  12. I would absolutely expect the manager to say something along those lines. "He's doing fine there, better than we hoped/expected, yada yada yada". The real telling thing to me is that Braun states he's not comfortable there, and I really don't like the fact that he says the bending and whatnot is not comfortable on his back. This just really leads into a couple (or more) 10 - 15 day stays on the DL, when he pulls or twists something, because we're shoe-horning him into a position he's not physically able to play.
  13. I like Aguilar. I like what he brought to the bench last year. I'm disappointed that there isn't really a spot for him on the team this year. I kind of feel like last year was a little bit of a fluke and he's probably more like a 775 to 800 Ops guy. But saying he's as good or better than Santana is just false. There's no measurable or quantifiable statistic that shows he's better than Santana.
  14. Bucks got smoked by a team that is actively trying to lose games.
  15. Man, Jennings 2 rebounds shy of a triple double in his return?!? Who would have thought? Tied for the 7th seed but nobody is creating any separation at all. Still only 3 games out of the 3 seed. A good 4-5 game winning streak could still get them a home court series in the first round. Spurs struggling to even make the playoffs?! Wow.
  16. Davies 5.8 Anderson chacin 5.6 4-5 even if you think 5.2 is possible. (Suter woodruff or miley cuz guerra can't go past 4) 71.2 ip per bp arm with an 8 man pen. Jeffress Barnes Albers look like 60 ip guys Logan looks like a 40ip guy Knebel hader 2 long men average 87ip? Ouch. Knebel at 72... hader 2 longmen average 92.5? Ouch. The NL averaged 5.4 innings per start last year. That's just the reality of baseball right now, and probably going forward. Like someone else said, the bullpen won't be 8 guys. It's going to be 12-13 guys, or more, over the course of the season. I'd guess we will see 2 guys, tops hit 70 innings.
  17. I think what everyone has to remember is that this is not "2018 or bust". They had an opportunity to get two guys (Cain and Yelich) that they liked *right now* to add to the rebuilding process, and they will still have those guys when Nelson is back, and fully healthy next year, and perhaps they have a better opportunity to add to the rotation next off-season, or Burnes will have had some time to get up and acclimated to big league hitters.
  18. Black Mirror is great...if you can get through s1 ep1. Peaky Blinders on netflix is fantastic. A lot of the netflix/hulu/amazon original content is really good. Depe ds in your tastes. I got through 4 seasons of GoT and called it quits.
  19. Moustakas has had two seasons where he's been above 2 WAR. This is the first time he's hit for significant power, and he usually carries a very low on base percentage. The days of teams paying premium prices for power hitters who don't do much else are over. He's an average defender who doesn't hit for high average and doesn't draw walks. Before this season he had never hit more than 22 home runs in a full season. We should expect this to be the norm going forward
  20. Doesn't matter how close you are if you're over on the price. I'm going $1.
  21. Miguel Cabrera's contract is going to be as bad as the Pujols one. Maybe worse.
  22. A few weeks ago they were game out of the third seed. There really isn't much difference between the 4th seed on down and the rest of the Eastern Conference. There's Boston, Toronto, Cleveland, and then there's everybody else.
  23. Glad I'm not the only one that got that reference.
  24. Oh, I'm not inferring that a woman could pitch in MLB. Just thought it was funny. Also, the mound is closer, but the girls that hit are still facing fastballs at 75 mph from 37 feet away. They have less reaction time than MLB batters that face 100 mph heat. That's insane.
