  1. Dunno, but if Broxton keeps it up... he could net a nice return.
  2. I completely agree with that state of mind. I think with the current talent we'll win about the same as last year, which is why I am advocating for adding a bat. The starting pitching is going to go through a rough patch at some point and we will fall out of contention quickly if we keep the same incredibly inconsistent offense. The thing is... that bat is currently at Biloxi, IMO. Hiura's bat looks ready. He fills the hole at second. Villar moves to short, gives a 150+ point boost to OPS out of that position. Use Miller at third until Shaw is healthy. When Shaw's OK, he takes third, Miller to short, Sogard cut.
  3. I agree. Put Shaw on the DL, call up Hiura, Miller to third, Villar at short.
  4. Well, Miller time! Three-run shot. Give him ABs at short...
  5. If Braun and Santana get going, and the crew calls up Hiura with Miller at short... The offense side is fixed.
  6. Let him get the reps in Milwaukee and boost the offense.
  7. Just gotta get Suter a couple runs if he keeps pitchin' like this...
  8. Sogard's problem is more bad luck than bad play. Braun's had a similar problem this year. At this point, it makes no sense to make a 40-man move, other than to add Hiura and bring him up. Some hard decisions may come then, but for now, the hope is for Sogard to rebound and get luckier.
  9. Miller can handle short. The Crew has a 40-man spot open for Hiura. Problem solved, short-term.
  10. I would not bat him leadoff. He'd be a decent upgrade but I would probably put him 6 or lower. Get our best hitters the most at bats. Harrison doesn't even check the box of a good OBP. I think Villar is basically as good as Harrison at this point other than striking out a bit more often so I'm not even sure I'd bother with it. But I'd rather, if Thames hits a home, he has a good chance of hitting it with someone on base. Harrison's a good fit for that slot. He has too much power to head off.
  11. One of the things to consider is this team still hasn't finished the "rebuild." There is still no young catcher or second baseman, and Braun is declining, but still productive. The rotation is arguably patchwork. When you think about it, 2017 was over-achieving in some ways (they hit on a couple of surprises, like Brent Suter, who has held down a spot in the rotation), and that is carrying over to 2018 (with Villar's partial rebound and Guerra's rebound).
  12. Given his situation, what is left after taxes of that $135K signing bonus gives him a nice nest egg.
  13. Braun can play third... I know that would be desperation, but that's an option...
  14. Brent Suter is pitching like a TOR starter!
  15. Well, Barnes and Woodruff seem to be lower on our depth chart. I like Drew Jackson as a solid SS who could put up a .750-.775 OPS at the position. Very good OBP skills and speed, some pop. Arcia's looking more and more like a but of a bust offensively, and maybe it's time to fetch what value the Crew can get for him while he still has control. Walker is a 3B/1B option who could be ready in a couple of years - his bat strikes me as a good OBP/power combination.
  16. With the Dodgers looking to shore up their bullpen, would it make sense for the Brewers to try and see if they can't deal a lower-level bullpen guy to the Dodgers to get a prospect or two? Dodgers get: RHP Brandon Woodruff RHP Jacob Barnes Brewers get: SS/2B Drew Jackson 3B/1B Jared Walker
  17. Would saving $2 million have been a bad thing?
  18. This signing does frost me, since the Crew did have Wei-Chung Wang on the 40-man, who could be doing as well as Logan, and was a lot younger and cheaper, to boot!
  19. But if you get 30 home runs from the guy, I think that offense matters, too. Maybe more.
  20. Like this start. Maybe he's gonna have a run. BTW, how many pickoffs does he have this year? I saw he got someone at first...
  21. Turang strikes me as an Alcides Escobar/Orlando Arcia with speed and OBP skills. If he goes back to his old swing, I could see a .280/.380/.345 line, a .725 OPS. Not the best, but if he can add 25-30 steals, that would be something I can live with at short. Then again, maybe he gets a power surge like JJ Hardy did. He's 18... plenty of time to develop.
  22. Which is what Colorado Springs is for.
