  1. Except that right now its really cheap to upgrade. Punto will cost very little and if Furcal comes available in July he won't block him. But the Dodgers might make a run in the west and Furcal won't go anywhere.
  2. Philly just gave Howard his deal. You think the Cubs braintrust is any smarter?
  3. Punto's ZiPS projection is .239 .324 .306 Betancourt's is .266 .292 .392 So while Punto is worse he really isn't that much worse because the 30 points of OBP is huge compared to the 86 points of slugging. Punto's UZR/150 over his career at SS is 18.3. Batancourt's is -8.3
  4. How would it be a disaster? Over the past 5 seasons Weeks was worth 56m in terms of WAR
  5. Bagwell gets screwed because some guys think he may have at some point possibly used steroids
  6. I've said it before, but I'm really going to miss Macha allowing Axford to go two innings.
  7. Probably because they think their 7 or so guys are better candidates and they need the rotation spots for them. Joakim should of course already have been traded.
  8. Its nearly irresponsible not to replace Betancourt at this point. You can add an extra expected win at the cost of less than $2m? And the marginal value of the win right now is around $7-8m? Unless the team thinks Cruz can handle the position its really poor planning.
  9. Its an overpay mostly because 2B don't tend to age well. Thats really not a concern with Weeks since he is considerably younger than Uggla.
  10. A month doesn't tell anyone anything. And after a month all the guys who don't have jobs now will have jobs. Punto could likely be had a 2 year/ $3m deal.
  11. If you don't believe he can make it until July yes. If Cleveland is trying to move Sizemore now its because they don't think he's ready now and will need time to get better anyway or that they don't trust him to stay healthy until June.
  12. Turnbow wasn't a flake. He was a marginal guy with a killer arm that put it together for one season. There are tons of those. Axford has a better pedigree in that his control while incredibly spotty was never at the Turnbow wild pitch level. But he could just lose his control in time as well.
  13. By trading away 2 players who weren't part of the farm system. Escobar has over a year of service time. Cain got over 150 PAs.
  14. Why are the Mets going to unload Reyes? Furcal, sure he's old and the Dodgers are in limbo. But Reyes is good, under 30 and the Mets have tons of money to pay him.
  15. Yeah they maybe at the age where they find Kirby "too babyish" while not old enough to really see the greatness of everything there. If you want to relive your childhood, NBA Jam is very good. As for Epic Mickey, the decision to go with no voice acting in a game with so much text is strange. Party games might be a good idea. Stick to the nintendo brand in general, though if you kids are boys they might really love Rabids Through Time.
  16. Super Mario Bros 2 and Kirby's Epic Yarn. The latter is great for young kids. You can look at Trauma Team but the themes maybe a bit too dark. The Wii also has what many consider the best baseball game franchise ever in Power Pros but it hasn't been released since 2008 in the US.
  17. Ozzie Guillen's son is, well, a lot like Ozzie Guillen http://sports.espn.go.com...lb/news/story?id=5966566
  18. So umm is your Segway in storage up here or something? Always nice to have guys who really like Milwaukee playing here
  19. Was he related to Nap Lajoie?
  20. Neither Saito or Braddock can likely go two days in a row. Hard for either to close.
  21. That was more a joke. Yea they can call up someone but they need a 4 inning guy in Milwaukee. The whole call someone up thing is nice until they pitched the day before and your forced to go with option #3. I like the bullpen but its got a lot of handle gently labels on it. Loe shouldn't face left handers, Saito, Hawkins and Braddock likely shouldn't pitch on consecutive days or for more than 1inning, Parra is best if limited to 1 to 2 innings at most.
  22. The pitcher may bat 7th on this team...
  23. Capuano was a hope because he has talent and likely won't get big money. But the Brewers still need a viable multi inning guy(3-4 inning) and emergency starter in Milwaukee. It shouldn't be Parra. Rogers really shouldn't be counted on ath this point. You need a guy who can fill in for 10 or so starts over a season. Jaimie Moyer?
  24. How about just signing a decent SS now? It would be just as valuable, won't cost any prospects and likely even cost less in salary.
  25. The guy hit .289 in August when given extended playing time coming off injury. And Dickerson cost a king's ransom compared to Boggs. And no one in CF should be hitting 2nd at this point.
