  1. Nomar was basically done after age 30. Yes it was due to injury but the Rockies are taking on all that risk. The point about Tulo's aav is that he isn't getting paid at the market rate and not at some discount.
  2. 1)-Why? Maybe he gets less expensive as his body breaks down. 2)-The Rockies aren't getting a home town discount 3)-Only if salary inflation picks up again and you're paying a huge premium to save a little bit of money. Tulo now has the highest average annual value of all short stops.
  3. Yep, it isn't the money its the timing. Why now?
  4. The current market just gave Juan Uribe 3 years at $7m per. The current market just gave a guy coming off a dismal year with a dying fastball $7m with a full NTC.
  5. Dunn had to settle for the Nats last time since they were the only ones who would even offer him 2 years at 8 figures. I don't know why his value is suddenly going to mean he'll get a 4-5 year deal.
  6. The biggest thing with Dunn is that Dunn would likely be willing to sign with the Brewers, something many other top flight FAs would not be.
  7. Now how the Marlins can afford him is what I don't get. Dump Uggla who would bring back picks to sign Vasquez who won't. Are they hoping that a team Vasquez would be willing to go to gets hot and they can then trade him at the deadline?
  8. If Jeffress is the future closer trade him now before anyone else realizes it.
  9. It could be-do you have any search bars on IE with branded search engines? If you get rid of Flash lots of sights will then use MS's Silverlight as a backup.
  10. Actually the first thing he said after his 50 home run season at age 23 is that his father never did that.
  11. Try uninstalling and reinstalling flash (if you have the ability to do so)
  12. Actually my guess is he'd love to go to Detroit and become more beloved there than his father ever was.
  13. I think I've mentioned it before, but look at where the Brewers were in 2008 at all levels and just how much really bad luck seemed to hit the team. That Hunstville lineup looked stacked and ready to be up in Milwaukee and destroying pitching by 2010.
  14. If Gomez is earning around $1m, hard to non-tender a guy who might put it together at AAA for the cost of a low 1st round singing bonus. I'm not optimistic about that happening but at this point it isn't a crazy thing to do.
  15. I think the biggest issue is that Jeter is treating 3years/$15m as a slap in the face. That's still a huge salary, one which few players cross.
  16. Part of that is moving prospects for pitchers. If we could have gotten something for Salome.....
  17. Gomez has an option left. He won't be cut as long as he can be sent down and is relatively cheap. If he gets a big contract he may get cut. If Hinske and Counsell sign, the bench likely is set. Dickerson can play CF is also fast and can actually hit. EDIT: Suppan was exactly the same crappy pitcher with the Cardinals he was with the Brewers.
  18. Howard would be lucky to be listed #7 on my Phillies MVP ballot.
  19. Pavano isn't Suppan. Here is his FIP that past 2 years: 4.00, 4.02. James projections has his FIP at 4.22 next year.
  20. Didn't mean to come down harsh, its just that it one of those things I've seen lots of places about how good Cabrera was in 2009 and how the Brewers should have definitely pulled the Cameron for Cabrera swap. About the only good that would have done is kept us from having Gomez on the team.
  21. I think the Yankees would jump at it to dump Burnett. $16.5m/ year for a 1.3 WAR pitcher? Woohoo. its the return of Soup! Obviously Burnett has more talent than Suppan and so has a chance to rebound but his velocity was down last year as was his K/9. At $16.5m over 3 years Burnett makes some sense for the Brewers, at $16.5m a year for 3 years he doesn't.
  22. He could easily be a 15 game winner. His season last year was derailed due to a HR/FB rate out of th enorm, a really low strand rate, and high BABIP. His xFIP the last 3 seasons: 4.57, 4.31, 4.48 which puts him about average. Put on teh right team an average pitcher ca get 15 wins. Heck on the Brewers Looper got 14 despite being below replacement level.
  23. Who would want Farris in the big leagues all year as a backup 2B?
  24. Who would want Farris in the big leagues all year as a backup 2B?
  25. Actually the only real fit is a team that has trouble selling but has money to spend. Which means: "Leading off for your Washington Nationals, Derek JETER!!!!!!!!"
