    How can anyone get over it when its his defining characteristic? Its why he is under contract for the next 2 years and then you either have to cut bait or pay even more to keep him around. So far Love seems like a poorman's Mayfield so the Packers are going to be looking for a new QB soon anyway. But if he turns it around late this season/next season then what? Franchise him to buy more time? Sign him to a Daniel Jones type contract?

    The issue is no one knows what Mitchell is. Can he come back? Even if he can, what is he? Brewerfan usually goes into fits about strikeouts. Well Mitchell's K-rate is 40%. His offense is all his .468 BABIP.

    Why would he agree? He has a $2m buyout. He likely can get a $8-10m one year deal easily. Why would he add a second year for basically free?

    Turang's actual defensive value is debatable. DRS likes him but both UZR and Statcast see him at just above average at 2B.

    People kept clamoring for a salary cap and well MLB got one. Amazing how it didn't solve anything but keeping salaries down but has lead to NFL/NBA style activities to avoid penalties.

    Well the Yankee hitters do suck. I mean you have Judge and Torres and then a bunch of hitters that would look at home on the Brewers.

    Not sure how Perkins and Mitchell are ahead of Wiemer anywhere. Perkins hits and defends worse than Wiemer. Mitchell has a serious injury that no one knows when he will fully be healthy. The answer here seems fairly simple. The Brewers offense stunk. To stop it from being so rancid, the Brewers traded for Canha and gave more playing time to a healthy Taylor ( the guy who is completely absent from the article) over Wiemer. Now why they kept Wiemer up in August for little use is a different issue.

    Turang's huge hot month of August was a wRC+ of 81. Tellez overall terrible season has a wRC+ of 81 but he has been hitting better lately and is just a better hitter.

    This thread is hilarious. If the Brewers did something similar the hosannas here about the genius of the Brewers front office would be deafening. The Angels are about to save millions in salary which normally causes people here to get really excited ("think of all the overseas singings this will pay for!") and will push them under the salary tax meaning they will improve their draft position significantly if they do lose Ohtani. Are the rules bad? Yeah, but that isn't the Angel's fault that MLB powers wanted there to be only one trade deadline and didn't think things through about the new waiver rules.

    There is no problem paying both of them at the same time. Chourio likely won't even be a full time player until at least 2026. Yelich is gone after 2028. You start the big dollars in the Chourio contract after 2028.

    I think people are really overstressing on Adames. He hasn't been good overall, but for July he has a wRC+ of 114. Now sure move him down as soon as you locate a better hitter in the lineup but yeah...

    I feel Gasser is much more a 3 here. He's already 24 and many places no longer consider 25 a prospect. The Brewers are planning on still having Burnes, Peralta, Woodruff, Ashby, and Houser back. Miley would easily be welcomed back in the same role he has this year I would think. Rea will still be around. Lauer is an unknown but could be in the mix. If Gasser can't beat out Tehran and Rea now, will next year be much different? Is he going to repeat AAA? Gasser looks to be an emergency option at this point. He's a solid prospect but I fell much more comfortable about finding a back end rotation piece (hey Miley!) cheaply than filling in other spots where the Brewers have highly valued prospects. Especially since the Brewers often limit the workload of back end starters though working only 2 times through the order and 6 man rotations.

    Toro is basically another version of Miller. If they have finally moved on from Winkler or replacing Turang, sure Toro is likely better. But he is not anything more than a solid utility player or lower level starter at 2B.

    Why? Because the 2025 rotation looks like junk? Well Gasser and Rodriguez likely don't make it that much better. Now I'm not saying just trade them, but chasing the 75th win in 2025 instead of the 87th now doesn't make much sense.

    Fangraphs has Vodnik as a FV 40. Jason Junk or so in terms of value but Vodnik is really a big fastball with hope to become a reliever. Gordon isn't even scouted,

    The Angels are back in it so unlikely to trade unless they collapse over the next few days. An approximate 15% chance to make the playoffs and hopefully convince Ohtani to stay is more valuable.

    A healthy Urias replacing Turang would be a huge upgrade.

    For Miller it likely is using this year as a basis. So like 1 to 1.5 wins. Now he likely won't reach that, but that aside that gives him like $4 million in excess value the rest of this year, $8 million next year if they deduct half a win, and like $1-3m in first year of arby. Now is that reasonable for Miller? Not really. But that is because valuation isn't really linear and breaks for bench players who receive less than $8 million per expected win.

    For prospects it comes from the FV score. You can see the value here: https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/farm-system-rankings So for Lara and Black that would mean they would be like FV 45+ which seems reasonable given where they were at season's beginning.

    McMahon just seems like a copy of a healthy Urias. Urias better offensively, McMahon better defensively.
