I don't get what the Braves are doing. Either go for it or don't, don't make trades that might pan out in 4 years while having the rest of the team in or past their prime.
And this is based on what? The Cubs making him the fall guy instead of dealing with the atrocious play of Soriano? Chicago sports talk following Pinella's lead made Bradley the reason for the Cubs' problems two weeks into the season.
His K/bb ration in March/April .9, May 1.38, June 1.43. No he wasn't pitcing well and then got hurt. He had a lucky BABIP of .205 in May driving his ERA down. As he got less lucky his ERA came back up.
Why keep him around? He's not suddenly going to become a different pitcher. He has a 4.77 ERA as a reliever and a K/BB ration of 1.12. An OBP against of .365. That's bad.
McClung can't blow a fastball by anybody because he has no control. He stunk last year after basically being replacement level reliever the year before. His K/BB rate 1.03! His HR/9 was 1.60. He hasn't ever been good outside of 12 innings for Milwaukee in 2007.
He didn't play well at all. A .278/.346/.382 line stinks for a OFer. He was replacement level for a second straight year. Mix in bad defense and he's done.
Except as told before you'd be wrong. Tommy John's FIP was good due to him not giving up home runs. Olsen at best is a 5th starter. He had one good year.
